As for the Way, the Way that can be spoken of is not the constant Way; as for names, the name that can be named is not the constant name. The nameless is the beginning of the ten thousand things; the named is the mother of the ten thousand things. Therefore, those constantly without desires, by this means will perceive its subtlety. Those constantly with desires, by this means will see only that which they yearn for and seek. These two together emerge; they have different names yet they're called the same; that which is even more profound than the pro-found -- the gateway of all subtleties. ~ Lao Tzu (Te-Tao Ching)

To desire is not in error though it may appear so. To desire and not be fulfilled is the error. A desire is a feeling, a longing for something. This expresses the supply and demand which is the Cosmic Principle of Male/Female and Out & Back of Oneness which is Consciousness, Mind, God, I AM, Higher Self, Beingness. Mind desires itself and it receives that back; it is one. Mind says: "let there be light" and "there is light". Mind desires that "light be" and "so it is". Only in a consciousness of separateness resulting from "duality" does it appear that this simultaneous expression is thwarted. Thus usually the concept of one's desire is left with the belief that there is emptiness. But also it is often this desire which provokes inner change which results in spiritual realization thus it serves a purpose. To rid oneself of this "desire" is to work to have it fulfilled by realizing that it already is. ~ Derek Lamar
To desire is to feel the needs of the self

Spirituality is natural goodness. God is not a person; God is a Presence personified in us. Spirituality is not a thing; It is the atmosphere of God's Presence, goodness, truth and beauty. Religion is a life, a living. If we could forget that philosophy is profound, that religion is spiritual and life serious -- all of which may be true -- but if we could forget all these things, and approach Reality as normally as we go about our daily affairs, we would be better off. ~ Ernest Holmes (The Science of Mind, 1938)
Science is the process of knowing the Self

You must always remember that as consciousness, you are everything that is. ~ Derek Lamar

"If you observe your Self, not who you think you are, but who you really are, you will discover the infinite Divinity with which is your Reality and you will discover real joy and happiness. If on the other hand you continue to blindly stumble through life believing that everything is separate and apart from you, your life will be one of perpetual slavery." ~ Derek Lamar

"One who meditates upon the Self and realizes the Self sees the Self everywhere, and rejoices in the Self. Such a one lives in freedom and is at home wherever he goes. But those who pursue the finite are blind to the Self and live in bondage." ~ The Upanishads

"As you develop an understanding of the I AM you will realize that all is ONE." ~ Derek Lamar

"One who meditates upon and realizes the Self discovers that everything in the cosmos -- energy and space, fire and water, name and form, birth and death, mind and will, word and deed, mantram and meditation -- all come from the Self." ~ The Upanishads

"When one is in control of their self it is because they are at One with their Self. The result of this is a manifestation, which actually is but a realization, of the Absolutes as they pertain to all of reality so too they pertain to you." ~ Derek Lamar

"Control the senses and purify the mind. In a pure mind there is constant awareness of the Self. Where there is constant awareness of the Self, freedom ends bondage and joy ends sorrow." ~ The Upanishads

"Though there appears to be many, understand this to be the Infinite variety that you are. Not only is life infinite but all that one perceives must also align itself to this reality. Thus finite becomes infinite, lack becomes abundance, dis-ease becomes harmony, and so on." ~ Derek Lamar

"The Self is one, though it appears to be many. Those who meditate upon the Self and realize the Self go beyond decay and death, beyond separateness and sorrow. They see the Self in everyone and obtain all things." ~ The Upanishads

"To touch one must be touched. This is the reality of the Oneness with which is the operating formula of the Universe. The male and the female are one in all things. Androgyny is the nature of the Universe." ~ Derek Lamar

"No one can understand the sounds of a drum without understanding both drum and drummer; nor the sounds of a conch without understanding both the conch and its blower; nor the sounds of a vina without understanding both vina and musician." ~ The Upanishads

"All is thought. All is Mind. Reach out and touch yourself for you are all there is." ~ Derek Lamar

"As there can be no water without the sea, no touch without the skin, no smell without the nose, no taste without the tongue, no form without the eye, no sound without the ear, no thought without the mind, no wisdom without the heart, no work without hands, no walking without feet, no scriptures without the word, so there can be nothing without the Self." ~ The Upanishads

"When the student is ready, whether he or she know it or not, one will come into your life and you must recognize this on some level and follow through on this great opportunity. Your world is just beginning for you." ~ Derek Lamar

"Action prompted by pleasure or profit cannot help anyone to cross this sea. Seek a teacher who has realized the Self. To a student whose heart is full of love, who has conquered his senses and passions, the teacher will reveal the Lord of Love." ~ The Upanishads

"I AM ALL THAT I AM." ~ Derek Lamar

"In the heart of all things, of whatever there is in the universe, dwells the Lord." ~ The Upanishads

Sometimes it seems harder to find things than other times. Why do things get lost? Nothing gets lost. You simply choose not to connect. You build a wall between yourself and your thoughts for whatever reason. That reason you must find out. That is your journey. It becomes a stepping stone and eventually will lead you to the mirror which shines the light which is already in you but you have turned your back on it. Open your eyes and live. ~ Derek Lamar

Mele Kalikimaka a Hau'oli Makahiki Hou

(Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year... with aloha!!!)

It is the birth of Christ within. What else would be the point? This is the time to give to others because there are no others. Giving freely is based on never really giving anything away because you can only give to yourself anyway. And in that state of knowingness, all will come back to you because it already does. But knowing it is to recognize it and to recognize it is to have it made manifest in your life. ~ Derek Lamar
Each of us is a Christmas package and we all need the outer wrapping removed to enjoy what's inside

Wednesday, December 24, 2003

To you it's Christmas eve, but to me it's the day I married my beautiful wife. I used to tell myself I loved "truth" and then my wife but now my wife is "truth" to me and I love her more than anything else. I love her because on many levels she is the only person in the world who understands what I know and I too what she knows. Also she helps me in my ongoing quest to discover myself because she won't take my crap. But she sees the God in me and I see the God in her. We didn't just meet this time around and we shall continue at least for forever. Happy Anniversary my sweet jewel in the crown of my heart. ~ Derek Lamar
If my soul were a mirror and I looked deep into it I would still see only her and in her eyes I might catch a glimpse of me ~ D.L.

We met in 1971 and got together in 1975 moving us to get married in 1980 and now it is 2003 and we have been together longer than we have been apart. It is smooth sailing from here on out.

My parents got married 64 years ago today. I benefit from their acquaintance, sort of, but still I wonder why in hell would they have ever done such a thing. I am sure they were different when they were young. Why do people let that happen to them. By the time they are old they are too weak to put on a happy face or pretend anymore. But that doesn't mean that you become real. It just means that you don't waste time being nice. Sad really. When people give up all of their phoniness, sometimes there just isn't anything left. ~ Richard Kula (Under The Mexican Moon)
If the soul was enlarged to the size of an apple, some people would ask for a grape

Peep-in-the-World held out a timid hand, and the dwarf took it so gladly and humbly that she could not help feeling touched. "Yes," he said eagerly, and the gladness in his voice quite changed it, "she will be my friend; I know it." Nice'ums looked amused. "My funny old Knut," she said, "how can you tell so soon?" The dwarf tapped his forehead meaningly. "The sign! She has the sign here." Peep-in-the-World rubbed her smooth forehead in bewilderment. What could he mean? Knut nodded at her. "You have the star -- the faint little star I see on the brows of those who will one day be my friends." ~ F.E. Crichton (Peep-in-the-World, 1925)
If the earth were enlarged to the size of the sun... we'd bump into the moon

St. Thomas Aquinas says: "Roundness can never be taken from the circle..." It is an axiom of reason that truth demands perfection of being: a circle is a perfect circle, a square is a perfect square. Whatever is, is perfectly what it is. However, when one begins to apply the idea of square or circle by means of pencil to paper, the hand wavers or the pencil slips, or the paper is rough, and perfection seems lost. But "circle" itself is never lost or disturbed; circle itself is always perfectly round, even though it may not seem so on paper. Roundness is what ought to be to the circle, and this perfection is preserved in the idea, the intellectual form of circle. This perfection of all being is preserved in the intellectual form of what ought to be, so that even on paper the form and the being correspond. ~ Genevieve Burnell (The Golden Thread of Reality: The Search For Truth And The Emergence Of The Universal Pattern)
If the earth were shrunk to the size of a golf ball, it would be smoother and more round

The teacher transmits to the pupil the baraka he himself receives from his own master. This baraka works on the pupil according to the time, place and need and the circumstances in which he finds himself. --- The baraka seeps in, often despite you, rather than being forced to wait upon the doorstep until your "intellect" permits it to filter through in an attenuated form. ~ Rafael Lefort (The Teachers of Gurdjieff: Ataullah Qarmani)
And she touched the hem of his garment and was changed.

Wherever we are at this moment is holy ground. In this awareness, we can relax and let the Father reveal Its plan for us. God, the Father, is infinite, and that infinity manifests itself through us as our activity, whether it be that of a minister, physician, lawyer, nurse, teacher, healer, housewife, businessman, or mechanic. The work assigned to us today may not be of our choosing; but if, instead of kicking against the pricks [to resist incontestable facts or authority], we remember that God is working out Its plan on earth, and that we are here only to show forth the glory of the Father, there will be nothing limited, confined or finite about our life or our activity. ~ Joel S. Goldsmith (The Art of Meditation)
The place where you stand is holy ground. ~ Exodus 3:5

Let us rise up and be thankful, for if we didn't learn a lot today, at least we learned a little, and if we didn't learn a little, at least we didn't get sick, and if we got sick, at least we didn't die; so, let us all be thankful. ~ Buddha (568-488 B.C.)
What we think, we become. ~ Buddha
Do not overrate what you have received, nor envy others. He who envies others does not obtain peace of mind. ~ Buddha
An insincere and evil friend is more to be feared than a wild beast; a wild beast may wound your body, but an evil friend will wound your mind. ~ Buddha
Neither fire nor wind, birth nor death can erase our good deeds. ~ Buddha
To be idle is a short road to death and to be diligent is a way of life; foolish people are idle, wise people are diligent. ~ Buddha
Words have the power to both destroy and heal. When words are both true and kind, they can change our world. ~ Buddha
Anger will never disappear so long as thoughts of resentment are cherished in the mind. Anger will disappear just as soon as thoughts of resentment are forgotten. ~ Buddha
Do not dwell in the past, do not dream of the future, concentrate the mind on the present moment. ~ Buddha
Holding on to anger is like grasping a hot coal with the intent of throwing it at someone else; you are the one getting burned. ~ Buddha

David Bohm: Because ending and beginning are no special time. In fact they can be any time or no time. Krishnamurti: No time. Then what takes place? What is happening? Not to me, not to my brain. What is happening? We have said that when we deny time there is nothing. After this long talk, nothing means everything. Everything is energy. And we have stopped there. But that isn't the end. ~ J. Carrie Dinsmore introduced the Thelemites to the Rev. Wayne Walker [aka Kenneth Walker, aka Thane Walker, aka Thane of Hawaii], a New Thought lecturer and metaphysician. Walker, the founder of "The Voice of Healing" in Huntington Beach, claimed to be one of the seven priests of the Order of Melchizedek, and had been recently promoted to the office of "Prince Iole Eloi Sun, Kulkuthma Ray." His occult mission was to take charge of all inner activity destined to bring about world peace. With this grand aim in view, Mrs. Dinsmore thought he would be an asset to the Thelemites. Smith [Wilfred T. Smith] tried his best to interest Walker in Agape Lodge and the teachings of the O.T.O., which would have held some parallels to Walker's thought. He held a special celebration of the Gnostic Catholic Mass on February 15, 1936, for Walker and a group of his disciples, including Walker's childhood friend, Armine von Tempski Ball (1892-1943), authoress of novels on Hawaiian life, and her husband. ~ Martin P. The discovery of freedom is the realization that nothing can harm you in reality. In recognizing the Truth of "I AM that I AM" one begins to formulate a sphere of protection around themselves as they continue to reveal the LIGHT which is all there is. ~ Derek Lamar

The perception of "God speaking within" has always been a point counter point exercise in insanity for observers, especially those who do not have conversations with God. It doesn't matter if you call it Mind, Divine Mind, I AM THAT I AM, Higher Self, Lord, Allah, Infinite Mind, Spirit... you still must face the fact that your own consciousness will act as a filtering system and what you receive is only as good as the receiver. The "sender" is perfect. But your ability or inability at interpreting Higher Mind will be at issue. As one does more and more "Work" on themselves and clearing debris from their subconscious mind, the less obscured will be the information one receives and the more reliable one's interpretations will be. Ultimately you ARE speaking with Yourself... but how well do you know this person?
God is here... can I take your coat and hat?

Joan of Arcadia ~ Friday 8:00 pm

In order that one recognize a spiritual realm: "It is scientific to abide in conscious harmony, in health-giving, deathless Truth and Love. To do this, mortals must first open their eyes to all the illusive forms, methods, and subtlety of error, in order that the illusion, error, may be destroyed; if this is not done, mortals will become the victims of error." ~ Marry Baker Eddy (Unity of Good, 1887)
The implicate order is the spiritual realm, the explicate is illusion (holographic manifestation)

Until the person is able to abstract and define rationally the idea of good, and unless he can run the gauntlet of all objections, and is ready to disprove them, not by appeals to opinion, but to absolute truth, never faltering at any step of the argument -- unless he can do all this, you would say that he knows neither the idea of good nor any other good; he apprehends only a shadow, if anything at all. ~ Plato (The New Republic)

In every man there is an eye of the soul which is more precious by far than ten thousand bodily eyes, for by it alone is truth seen. ~ Plato (The New Republic)

The train was rumbling off in the distance. At first I thought it was thunder. But then I knew it couldn't be thunder because there hadn't been lightning. But then again when there is thunder I pull the covers up over my head. How will I ever know when it is safe? ~ Richard Kula

Whenever you want to know something and your mind hunts for it and it "remembers" it for you... always say thank you... to yourself... but inside acknowledge that your "self" does "work" for you and you appreciate it. You need to have a loving relationship within yourself as well as outwardly to others. ~ Derek Lamar

Mankind must put an end to war or war will put an end to mankind. ~ John F. Kennedy

And by putting an end to war it will not happen through protest, but by ridding our own inner selves of the need to control others simply because we cannot control ourselves. ~ Derek Lamar
We cannot end war simply by being afraid of it.

I went to the store the other day and I was in there for only about 5 minutes. When I came out there was a motorcycle cop writing a parking ticket. So I went up to him and said "Come on buddy, how about giving me a break?" He ignored me and continued writing the ticket. So I called him a pencil-necked Nazi. He glared at me and started writing another ticket for worn tires! So I called him a piece of horse s**t. He finished the second ticket and put it on the windshield with the first. Then he started writing a third ticket! This went on for about 20 minutes ... the more I abused him, the more tickets he wrote. I didn't care. My car was parked around the corner. I try to have a little fun each day. It's important.
I don't know... it made me laugh.

Close your eyes and forget your material surroundings. Place yourself in a comfortable position and "let go" of your body, to relieve it of all tension. When you are fully relaxed, with your eyes closed, you will be able to find the substance of Ideas within your consciousness. Do not think of your consciousness as the human brain. Think of your consciousness as the Divine Mind, filling all place. ~ Alexander Keene (3 Steps To Heaven, 1940)

If the body is in the mind, is not everything else?

We are so divided politically, it is clear that we are so divided internally. Everyone is so positive that they are right and everyone else is so wrong. It is clear that most people are more concerned about thinking that they are right, than actually being right. It is time to look inside and discover what is wrong and create a vacuum for that part of us which is not yet known to emerge. ~ Derek Lamar

It is no accident that you read these words, for it was another part of you which has brought you here. And this place is filled with many new ideas, some ancient as well, and they all are one. One isn't the loneliest number, One is the only number. You are ONE. Be thou made whole.
Welcome to a place which reaches out to touch the future... which is here now
