Quote of the Day

Nobody sees the heart and soul of the seeker after truth; but his tongue speaks truly: "I AM the Truth." For the wise man evil and good are both exceeding good. No evil ever comes from God; whenever you think to see evil proceeding from him, you were better to look on it as good. I'm afraid that on the way of faith, you are like a squinter seeing double, or a fool quarreling with the shape of a camel. Evil can never arise from him: how should evil co-exist with him? Only the foolish and ignorant work evil, --- never the beneficent friend. If he gives you poison, deem it honey; and if he shows you anger, deem it mercy. ~ Hakim Sanai (The Walled Garden of Truth)

Truth is all there is ~ Good is all there is ~ God is all there is

The emotional center becomes capable of real feeling only when a stable presence, relatively independent of the surrounding circumstances, has been developed. This presence is built up around a feeling of self which animates it and gives to its life at every moment a sense of being what it is. Schematically, we may say that emotions belong to personality and feeling to the real being -- I. The feeling of self which accompanies awakening to oneself is the first real feeling that a man can have; further evolution of the emotional center, going hand in hand with the attainment of a real I, approaches progressively the level of refinement of the higher emotional center, makes contact with it and finally merges with it. Not until this level is reached do the great "objective" feelings of Faith, Hope and Love become possible for man. ~ Jean Vaysse (Toward Awakening: An Approach To The Teaching Left By Gurdjieff)

All feelings on the lower level have their counterparts in one's Higher Center:

Love is the connecting cohesive FORCE which reveals the Oneness of Reality

"Programming by identity" is a phrase to describe this other kind of role-playing. When introducing this idea, I usually say something like this: "Imagine that I am the director of a television series. Knowing that you are an actor that plays tennis, I ask if you would like to do a bit part as a top-flight tennis player. I assure you that you needn't worry about hitting the ball out or into the net because the camera will only be focused on you and will not follow the ball. What I'm mainly interested in is that you adapt professional mannerism, and that you swing your racket with supreme self-assurance. Above all, your face must express no self-doubt. You should look as if you are hitting every ball exactly where you want to. Really get into the role, hit as hard as you like and ignore where the ball is actually going." When a player succeeds in forgetting himself and really acts out his assumed role, remarkable changes in his game often take place; if you don't mind puns, you might even say that he changes are dramatic. As long as he is able to stay in this role he experiences a style that he may not have known was in his repertoire. There is an important distinction between this kind of role-playing and what is normally called positive thinking. In the latter, you are telling yourself that you are as good as Ken Rosewall, while in the former you are not trying to convince yourself that you are any better than you believe you are. You are quite consciously playing a role, but in the process, you may become more aware of the range of your true capabilities. ~ W. Timothy Gallwey (The Inner Game of Tennis, )

Step outside of what you believe, and let unfold what you really know

How can our world not be alive? The world is in our consciousness. Is not our consciousness alive? For in Truth all of the Universe is Consciousness and it is alive and it is infinite. It is the new kind of thinking which is essential and which will provide the continuance of the race. The order of the Universe can be found throughout the Milky Way and in a drop of water. This Oneness is what Love is and proves that the love of the Infinite Self is the Cosmic Compassion which is the cohesive factor that heals the Universe in the blink of an eye. Knowing this provides one with a sense of personal satisfaction which goes beyond the moment and into the Eternal Now. This brings us to understand that the bigger problems of our world reflect the bigger problems of our life. In this way we must do our "work" of looking at the Self and allowing the Truth of who we really are emerge. ~ Dr. Derek Lamar

As on High, so on Low... and so on, and so on, and so on...

As soon as we allow ourselves to think of the world as alive, we recognize that a part of us knew this all along. It is like emerging from winter into spring. ~ Rupert Sheldrake (biochemist and author)
A new type of thinking is essential if humankind is to survive. ~ Albert Einstein (1879 - 1955)
1921 Nobel Prize in Physics
At the deepest level of ecological... is an understanding of being imbedded in a larger whole, a cosmic whole, of belonging to the universe. ~ Fritjof Capra (renowned physicist and author of The Tao of Physics)
Until he extends the circle of his compassion to all living things, man will not himself find peace. ~ Albert Schweitzer
The ecological crisis is doing what no other crisis in history has ever done -- challenging us to a realization of a new humanity. ~ Dr. Jean Houston

The relationship of humankind kind to their world will forever be a haphazard endeavor until they realize that their stewardship of the world within must be made a daily event if they are ever to realize the Oneness of the Reality without. ~ Dr. Derek Lamar
There is nothing on earth which causes the Universe to blink

...That whoever kills a single soul for other than a soul (killed) or for corruption in the earth, it is as though he had killed all of humanity together, and whoever saves the life of a single soul, it is as though he had saved the life of all of humanity together... Quran Surah al-Ma'ida ayah 32

If the People of the Book (Koran) accept the true faith and keep from evil, We will pardon them their sins and admit them to the gardens of delight. If they observe the Torah (Old Testament) and the Gospel (New Testament) and what is revealed to them from Allah, they shall be given abundance from above and from beneath. (as above so below). Quran Surah al-Ma'ida ayah 65-66

There is but One God ~ Quran

My Teacher used to say: "Bend me oh Lord, and if I break, so what!" What is mercy? Holding back punishment? We put ourselves through pain to the point necessary to "make us or break us." It is our own refusal to wake up that denies our own mercy. It is always our choice. Some people think "The Path" is difficult, but from this vantage point the other road is strewn with victims so deep it's hard to step across the bodies to help pull anyone out who extends his hand. I KNOW all tears are personal, but sometimes you view the marching flesh that is so damaged from inner turmoil and anguish that your own pain seems like it's from a million years ago. Five million years to earth, jumping and bouncing to survive. People are drawn toward pain today with self-destroying sado-masochistic tendencies because pain is the only thing they feel... the only thing that makes them feel alive. A new philosophy is being developed within man's psyche: "I hurt therefore I am." ~ Dr. Derek Lamar (Gurdjieff, Fourth Way and Esoteric Teaching)

Feeling reveals existence, existence leads to Being

The Rope (group) had a table in the Café Flore, our assembly point where we often met, an hour or so before the trek to Gurdjieff's apartment, to discuss the exercise performed in the privacy of our rooms, what we thought we had observed going on within ourselves as we had striven to achieve even the first step of them --- to "make all quiet inside" --- and to rehearse the reports to be made to the master, which at first were mainly confessions of chaos within. Associations were the thieves, vandals and wreckers of our efforts toward total concentration. Gurdjieff had told us not to try to shut them off. "You can never stop association," he had said. "As long as you breathe, there are associations. These are automatic. Therefore, in this task, you must not try to stop them; let associations flow but not be active. With the other part of your mind you work at this new task, and this is active. Pretty soon you find you have the beginnings of a new kind of brain --- a new one for this kind of mentation. And then, that other one becomes entirely passive. Very important that you know the body as a whole, for this work, very important..." ~ Kathryn Hulme (Undiscovered Country) author of The Nun's Story

Observe... then let go. Watch... and release. See... and Be.

No... it is never to awaken to one's own spiritual self. Is it better to begin when you are young? Perhaps. But the important factor to always remember with regards to the awakening of oneself is the divine concept of the "NOW" and how that relates to even the human realm and the human self and the human life. There is no better time than now, as they say. When the student is ready, the Teacher appears. When the student is ready, they are always ready in the "now." Often when one is young they are often less inhibited. They are often more open to new ideas. They haven't formed concepts and put them in concrete yet. But also, they sometimes have fleeting curiosity. They often seek approval rather than having a desire to learn. Often the hormones draw them to groups where they might like to mingle and then move on. Often young people are so sensitive their feelings are hurt easily and they flee to safer abodes. Often young people have not experience everyday life enough to understand and appreciate the hardships of the role of human in order to be more prepared to receive a "Higher Way." The important thing is that you are drawn to know and it will all unfold for you beyond your wildest dreams. Truth is only waiting for you because you have been waiting for it. It is time to stop waiting. ~ Derek Lamar

Go Now ~ Do not waste time ~ Run toward thyself

When it is time to move along and you are stuck in life, you will find that your world will shake you up somehow. Nothing stays the same when it is time to move along. Better to be awake to the process of change and go with the flow than to allow one's own resistance to cause their world to fall apart. If you are conscious of the need for change you can proceed through the rubble around you unscathed, but if you sit in a fixed position, you may find that you will snap like a twig under the pressure. Be flexible and bend with the moment. ~ Derek Lamar

I feel the earth move under my feet ~ Carole King

I speak with many voices, --- with the voice of all human emotions, passions and desires. I speak with Nature's voice, with the voice of Experience, even with the voice of human knowledge. Yes, these are all My Voice, which I use Impersonally to express to you the one fact, that I AM in All and that I AM All. What this Voice says, in Its thousand ways, is that you, too, are part of this All, and that I AM in you, waiting for your recognition of Me and your conscious cooperation in the expression of My Idea of Impersonal Perfection on earth, even as It is expressing in Heaven. When this recognition comes, and then only, are you ready to meet and know a real Master. Then and then only will you realize why I, your own Impersonal Self can be and AM the only possible Master of your human personality. ~ Joseph S. Benner (The Impersonal Life, 1914)

The impersonal life is to see through the eyes of God

Sunday, September 19, 2004

What is not true of God, Mind, Intelligence, Truth, is not true of the I-that-I-am --- is not true of this I-Identity, this Individual Conscious Life. This Life I am aware of is the Life that is God --- the Consciousness, the Awareness, the Identity is God. There can be no other. A personal sense of being an educated mortal, a man, a fear-laden member of the human race, is spurious. It is not God. It is not the I-that-I-Am. It is not Real, not Truth being Infinitely Individual. In Fact, the entire assumption vanishes, including all the limitation that goes with it, as I behold the Single I. In this Light of Mind, illusion dissipates, even as darkness leaves no evidence or trace in sunshine. Not that darkness goes anywhere, or that anything is lost, altered, changed, improved --- darkness or evil simply is never genuine, actual, substantive. ~ Alfred Aiken (NOW)

What is not, can never be, embrace that reality... knowing Truth is all

If you examine your thoughts honestly, you will discover that the reason for your approach, at least your first or earliest approach, to a metaphysical or spiritual work was the desire for the improvement of human conditions, and nothing more nor less than that. It was a way to achieve better health, better supply, or better companionship, and now to your surprise or dismay you are faced with the fact that just the opposite may take place. You may lose some of your companions, some of your friendships. In the same way, in seeking health, sometimes when you are hoping to get rid of one undesirable condition, you may discover that you have three or four others along with that one. They have been latent in your body or mind, and now this stirs them up, and all of a sudden you discover ailments you never knew you had. At first you might think that your spiritual study brought this on. No, your spiritual study did not bring it on, but it did bring to the surface whatever was latent in mind or body, and the right attitude is to be grateful, because otherwise it would lie dormant there until it got ready to strike; whereas now at least it has come to the surface, and through your study and work you will have the opportunity to make a transition from a material sense of health to the spiritual consciousness of wholeness. ~ Joel S. Goldsmith (The Mystical I)

The Truth about our illusion often litters our highway to enlightenment

Being "at One" with animals is often more than simply psychic communication with dogs and cats. The seeming Truth of the matter is that we realize our own ONENESS as our I AM and this SELF which is ONE with all of Reality is thus also ONE with all animals. Thus when we communicate to our pets on this level we reach down inside of us which reaches up into our Higher link with our True Identity which is also the True Identity of ALL that is and thus the True Identity ultimately of also our pet. Remember when Jesus prayed: "May they be One in me as I AM in you, Father." So it is. When you wish to really communicate with your animals, you must enter into that secret place and speak to them in that still small voice and declare: I AM THAT I AM. ~ Dr. Derek Lamar

God is spelled backwards for a reason: Dog is man's best friend

There is only One Universal Creative Mind. Each one of us individualizes this for his own use. He is doing this whether he is aware of it or not. Since the Universal Creative Mind is without volition of Its own, it must receive the impress of our thoughts and act upon them. Our own individual subjective minds, containing, as they must, the sum-total of all our thought patterns, are always projecting these thought pictures into the Universal Creative Mind. This causes It to react toward us in such a way as to produce in our physical bodies and in our environment, the physical likeness of these thought patterns. In this way, our own thought patterns, subjectively accepted and held, become our medium between the Absolute and the relative. ~ Ernest Holmes (Lessons In Spiritual Mind Healing, 1943)

"...and she's buying a stairway to heaven."

Now that you have willed to have a quiet time of prayer and to take your problem to God within, and have affirmed that you will look to God for guidance and help, go about doing what is at hand to do, and at some time a prophet will arise among your "thought people." That is to say, a strong thought will come to you or arise into your field of consciousness. A prophet always represents an intuitive feeling that suddenly comes to mind. It will say in one way or another, "Don't be afraid of this seemingly impossible problem! It is going to be solved in a perfect way, a way that is beyond your human ability." ~ Charles Roth (MIND: The Master Power)

That which is beyond your human ability is the self whom you really are

God reaches us in the silence. We have been told there is no power in the storm, the lightning, or the thunder but only in the "still small voice." That is where the power of God is, in the "still small voice" uttered within us when we are still and listening, peaceful, quiet, and assured. The kingdom of God is within us, and It utters Itself. It may utter Itself in speech; It may utter Itself as a light; It may utter Itself merely as an inner glow. But when It does, something happens. When we enter meditation, we have only one obligation, and that is to forget anybody and everybody in this world, to turn within and realize the kingdom of God is within us. In the quietness and confidence of meditation, nobody or nobody's problem enters our mind. All the Father has will be released through the "still small voice." ~ Joel S. Goldsmith (Awakening Mystical Consciousness)

Be Still and Know That I AM God

Enlightened Consciousness is spiritual Consciousness. Spiritual Consciousness sees the things of Spirit. The illusion called a mortal consciousness sees its own illusion. Being an illusion itself, it can see only the substances, forms, and activities of its own delusions. We know that a delusion must be a delusion about something. There can be no illusion about nothing. So the illusory picture of darkness, density, matter, is an illusion about Spirit, Light, Consciousness, Intelligence, Life. There is no darkness or solidity existing as Spirit, Light, Consciousness, Intelligence, Life. Yet these aspects of Existence comprise Substance. The illusory substance that appears to be solid dark matter is but an illusion about the genuine Substance which is comprised of Spirit, Light, Life, Mind, Consciousness. ~ Marie S. Watts (You Are The Splendor, 1963)

Truth is Light, and Light is All Knowing

Sunday, September 12, 2004

To speak the Truth has its effect if knowing accompanies the spoken words. It is in the "knowing" which transforms one's reality by realizing the Truth as opposed to the obscured and illusory outpicturing which has nothing to do with "Reality". To speak the Truth is to create a vacuum through which Reality can be seen. It is like pulling back the blinds to look out the window. It is light walking in the dark and suddenly turning on the light. It is like asking the question and receiving the answer. It is like loving and receiving love.

~ Dr. Derek Lamar, Metaphysicist

Love is the answer, you've got to let it go ~ John Lennon

Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature: for by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: and he is before all things, and by him all things consist. ~ Colossians 1:15-17 (KJV)

He is the image of the unseen God and the first-born of all creation, for in him were created all things in heaven and on earth: everything visible and everything invisible, Thrones, Dominations, Sovereignties, Powers -- all things were created through him and for him. Before anything was created, he existed, and he holds all things in unity. ~ Colossians 1:15-17 (Jerusalem Bible)

Christ Consciousness represents the understanding and knowing of the ONE MIND which is all there is, the first and the last out of which all things, all thoughts are revealed giving birth in thought to their existence whether they be known or unknown, seen or unseen, such as spiritual cycles and patterns, powers and observances all of which symbolize the Allness that MIND is in knowing and expressing itself infinitely out and back to itself.

What Jesus represented, he said of himself: "Of myself I am nothing." This should be accepted. It is not that false human humility where a person feigns unimportance in hopes everyone will say: "No, no.... you are an important person." It is in the mystical tradition of knowing that the human costume one wears is not their True Identity but rather the "I AM" which is the "I AM THAT I AM" which is "the Father". Which is to say: "I am nothing, but it is the Father within me which does the works."

This Father must be understood mathematically, as in infinite, and it must be understood and known as the ALLNESS of that which is Truth. This Truth therefore becomes the reality to which all things emerge and what appears that does not conform to this ALLNESS is illusion until the Truth in back of that illusion is revealed, understood and known.

Since you have been brought back to true life with Christ, you must look for the things that are in heaven, where Christ is, sitting at God's right hand. Let your thoughts be on heavenly things, not on the things that are on the earth, because you have died, and now the life you have is hidden with Christ in God. But when Christ is revealed -- and he is your life -- you too will be revealed in all your glory with him. ~ Colossians 3:1-4 (Jerusalem Bible)

Having this Christ Consciousness revealed within, your true life revealed, you will perceive reality mathematically, infinitely, as is the holographic nature of the Universe, and this Consciousness, this MIND of GOD becomes an axiomatic process of Being. Your Consciousness is One with the Above, not what appears on the Below, since you no longer live in a state of duality and now Oneness is revealed as you as this Christ Consciousness. The revealing of this Consciousness in you is the recognition of God being made manifest as the All in All.

~ Dr. Derek Lamar, Metaphysicist

Divinity is the Wholeness of God

"...I would say that I believe that everyone always tells the truth. Even when I know they are lying, I believe they are telling the truth. If this seems like a contradictory or paradoxical statement, I would point out that "believing" and "knowing" are two different things and should not be confused. The ensuing struggle --- the conflict between belief and knowledge --- within oneself becomes a means to an end which somehow produces an open mind and a path to "understanding" which lies somewhere between belief and knowledge. The value in it, for me, is that in the conflict I am forced to evaluate not only another person, but, inevitably, myself. Thanks to just this process, I am involved in life, in other people." ~ Fritz Peters (Gurdjieff Remembered)

Observation is the beginning of enlightenment

There is a lot of discussion about "aliens". What does this really mean to those on a spiritual path. The alien symbolizes the "stranger in a strange land" and comes from the "heavens" therefore the symbology reflects a Higher State of Consciousness as we aspire to. There are some, also, who believe that some of these aliens actually emerge from the depths of the earth or its oceans rather than from the "heavens". From this perspective one must realize the reflection of that "self" which is to be found in the deepest depths of one's consciousness. In achieving a Higher State of Consciousness it is necessarily to descend into the depths of one's deep recesses of their mind in order to discover the doorway to the Higher Consciousness therefore it is appropriate that there should be a manifestation, of sorts, of our selves, upon the earth in that manner at this important time of humankind's development. ~ Dr. Derek Lamar, metaphysicist

"And when she talks poverty, she's talking a lie, isn't she?"
"Yes. I guess that's why I get so angry at her," Angela acknowledged.
"Angela, wherever there is evil, there's a lie around," I remarked. "Evil always has something to do with lies. What makes this ritual interaction between you and your mother evil is that it's based on a lie. Not your lie. Your mother's lie."
"But my mother's not evil," Angela exclaimed.
"Why do you say that?"
"Because she just... she just isn't, that's why. I mean, she's my mother; I know she's sick, but she can't be evil."
We had returned to the issue. "What's the difference between sick and evil?" I asked.
"I'm not sure," Angela answered, looking not the least bit happy.
"I'm not sure either, Angela," I said. "In fact, I think that evil probably is a kind of sickness. But it's a particular kind of sickness. And calling it a sickness doesn't make it not evil. ~ M. Scott Peck, M.D. (People of the Lie)

Consciousness creates form. It is not the other way around. All personalities are not physical. It is only because you are so busily concerned with daily matters that you do not realize that there is a portion of you who knows that its own powers are far superior to those shown by the ordinary self. ~ Jane Roberts (Seth Speaks)

This question is no longer a matter of idle speculation. Soon, humanity may face an existential shock as the current list of a dozen Jupiter-sized extra-solar planets swells to hundreds of earth-sized planets, almost identical twins of our celestial homeland. This may usher in a new era in our relationship with the universe: we will never see the night sky in the same way ever again, realizing that scientists may eventually compile an encyclopedia identifying the precise co-ordinates of perhaps hundreds of earth-like planets.
For example, a Type I civilization is a truly planetary one, which has mastered most forms of planetary energy. Their energy output may be on the order of thousands to millions of times our current planetary output. Mark Twain once said, "Everyone complains about the weather, but no one does anything about it." This may change with a Type I civilization, which has enough energy to modify the weather. They also have enough energy to alter the course of earthquakes, volcanoes, and build cities on their oceans.
Currently, our energy output qualifies us for Type 0 status. We derive our energy not from harnessing global forces, but by burning dead plants (e.g. oil and coal). But already, we can see the seeds of a Type I civilization. We see the beginning of a planetary language (English), a planetary communication system (the Internet), a planetary economy (the forging of the European Union), and even the beginnings of a planetary culture (via mass media, TV, rock music, and Hollywood films).
By definition, an advanced civilization must grow faster than the frequency of life-threatening catastrophes. Since large meteor and comet impacts take place once every few thousand years, a Type I civilization must master space travel to deflect space debris within that time frame, which should not be much of a problem. Ice ages may take place on a time scale of tens of thousands of years, so a Type I civilization must learn to modify the weather within that time frame. ~ Michio Kaku, co-founder of String theory (Dr. Michio Kaku on the greatest scientific genius since Isaac Newton - Albert Einstein.)

Dealing with the Cosmos requires Cosmic Consciousness

In my youth I had heard he orators of Rome and Athens and Alexandria. the young Nazarene was unlike them all. They assembled their words with an art to enthrall the ear, but when you heard Him your heart would leave you and go wandering into regions not yet visited. He would tell a story or relate a parable, and the like of His stories and parables had never been heard in Syria. He seemed to spin them out of the seasons, even as time spins the years and the generations. ....The Greek and the Roman orators spoke to their listeners of life as it seemed to the mind. The Nazarene spoke of a longing that lodged in the heart. they saw life with eyes only a little clearer than yours and mine. He saw life in the light of God. ~ Kahlil Gibran (Jesus: Assaph, Called the Orator of Tyre)

For a short period in the late spring I was again assigned to work on the lawns, not mowing them this time, but straightening and trimming the edges and borders. To my surprise, I was even given a helper, which made me feel like a dependable, experienced "old hand". I was even more surprised when I found that my helper was to be an American lady who, up to this time, had only made occasional weekend visits to the Prieuré. This time, as she told me, she was going to be there for two whole weeks, during which time she wanted to be a part of the "tremendously valuable experience" of working at what she called the "real thing". Whatever thoughts I may have had about all of this and about her, the lady left after about two weeks, and seemed to feel herself "immeasurably enriched". Was it possible, after all, that she was right? If it had done nothing else, her visit had served to increase my need to re-examine the Prieuré and the reasons for its existence. ~ Fritz Peters (My Journey With A Mystic)

Look again, you will see something new... in your self

Be as honest with yourself as possible. I know you think you are, but you're not. You can definitely do more. But this is the first step. Be as honest as you can about yourself to yourself. Then look at all of your deficiencies and work with them. Know all of the time that you are not that person but rather a Divine Being who is One with God. But you will not be able to realize that without first being honest. The first things we believe are lies we are told by others. The second thing we believe are the lies we tell ourselves. The last thing we believe is the real Truth about our Self because of all of that other stuff we believe. It is a step by step process but only works in combination with the painful experience of being honest. ~ Dr. Derek Lamar

The Truth will make you free whether you like it or not!

Instead of a complete pattern of animal-type instincts to provide survival responses to life situations, the young child uses ego mechanisms backed by hair-trigger emotions to develop security, sensation, and power magnification of the moment-to-moment sensory inputs. Our personal development into fulfilling, happy lives (as well as the progression of civilization beyond the dangerous power consciousness) depends on our getting free of our ego-backed, subject-object, me-them, security-sensation-power hang-ups. ~ Ken Keys, Jr. (Handbook to Higher Consciousness)

You know the world is going crazy when the best rapper is a white guy, the best golfer is a black guy, the tallest guy in the NBA is Chinese, the Swiss hold the America's Cup, France is accusing the U.S. of arrogance, Germany doesn't want to go to war, and the three most powerful men in America are named 'Bush', 'Dick', and 'Colon'." ~ Chris Rock

The best wrapping is done at Christmas, the best golfer is also Chinese, Yao Ming works with a Mac, Swiss cheese is best on a pastrami sandwich at Cantor's in L.A., Germany never wanted to go to war, they simply expected everyone to surrender when they stepped inside the gate... da da. ~ Derek Lamar
