Q.M.I. Presents Derek Lamar's October 2005
Quote of the Day

October 31 ~ Monday 2005
Hide yourselves behind the power that you desire. Make yourselves look strong hiding how weak you truly feel. Pretend to be what you think you are not as you are revealing your inner fears just like wearing piercings and tattoos. You wear your hate on your sleeve and your atheism on your soul. Boo! Mumbo jumbo, mumbo jumbo. ~ Rama L. Kered, A.S.a.P.

ooooooooooOOOOOOOOoooooooooo Happy Halloween

Get that... it's "halloween" not "holloween"
October 30 ~ Sunday 2005
In a psychological sense we can understand the need to view ourselves in forms that represent repressed emotions. And thus we don the uniforms of menacing forces that seem to rise up within us that symbolize the unknown, unseen and unconfronted elements within our psyche which haunt us on our journey of discovering ourselves. But the celebration of costumes goes way beyond the simple warding off of evil spirits. It is the recognition that not only are we not whom we appear to be but that we can be whomever we choose. And beyond that, ultimately, we can become who we really are. ~ Dr. Derek Lamar
In the playground of the gods we come across a mirror here ... and there
October 29 ~ Saturday 2005
Death is something we fear because of the worry that we are losing our self. But in many ways it is a process of finding our self. Change is the one constant we understand which is always happening in our universe. When change occurs there is a stopping point and then something else happens. This is like death. There is a stopping point and then something new... something new happens... or is born. The metaphysical interpretation of death is that of change. When one moves up an octave on those ideas they discover that there is no change. Then they must come to understand what exactly is change about. They come to realize that change is having the unfoldment of that which always was be known. All that we perceive as time, space and change (movement) is an expression of unfoldment. In truth we have no beginning and we have no end therefore all unfoldment is allowing us to perceive the infinite variety of the allness that is reality. Life never ends, there is no death, and ultimately there is no change but the infinity of reality parallels the ongoingness that the universe is. ~ Dr. Derek Lamar
I AM Always and Forever
October 28 ~ Friday 2005
The maintenance of secrets is like a psychic poison, which alienates their possessor from the community. ~ Carl Jung
Secrets require lying and lying requires remembering ...remembering what one would rather forget. ~ Dr. Derek Lamar
You are not a human being having a spiritual experience; you are a spiritual being having a human experience. ~ Wayne Dyer
Remember what is true and your mind will set you free
October 27 ~ Thursday 2005
If you wait until the moon is full in order to see better by the light, you might be casting a greater shadow at the wrong time. If you hurry to catch the bus to get to that special appointment, you might get there too early and miss the person you were supposed to meet on the following bus. If you make believe you are someone other than who you really are you might not be someone who will recognize you when you really show up. ~ Dr. Derek Lamar
Time is a bitch but illusion is a whore
October 26 ~ Wednesday 2005
I kept thinking about my mother and my grandparents, and how strong they were. I knew there was a possibility of being mistreated, but an opportunity was being given to me to do what I had asked of others. ~ Rosa Parks
In this way Rosa Parks does the Fourth Way admonition of doing "Work" for the children yet unborn. One must do "Work" on the self, then do "Work" for the school and then do "Work" for children yet unborn. This not only allows one to extend themselves but to reach out and touch eternity. ~ Dr. Derek Lamar
Stop and think about... feel about... be about it

Rosa Parks (1913 ~ 2005)
October 25 ~ Tuesday 2005
Memories of our lives, of our works and our deeds will continue in others. ~ Rosa Parks
It was we, the people; not we, the white male citizens; nor yet we, the male citizens; but we, the whole people, who formed the Union... Men, their rights and nothing more; women, their rights and nothing less. ~ Susan B. Anthony
Let me listen to me and not to them. ~ Gertride Stein
Everyone will be famous for 15 minutes. ~ Andy Warhol
Rosa Parks will be famous as long as people desire freedom. ~ Dr. Derek Lamar
The Chimes of Freedom Shall Ring In Our Hearts
Rosa Parks (1913 ~ 2005)

Another New Age writer, Ezra Pound, said, "Orage's impersonality was his greatness, and the breadth of his mind was apparent in the speed with which he threw over a cumbrous lot of superstitions, and a certain number of fairly good ideas, for a new set of better ones."
Orage first met the teaching through Ouspensky, who arrived in London in September 1921. Orage, after years of study of Theosophy, and now hungry for a practical means of self-transformation, immediately accepted Ouspensky as his teacher. However, the following February after hearing Gurdjieff for the first time, Orage afterward declared: "I knew that Gurdjieff was the teacher. Ouspensky for me represented knowledge-great knowledge; Gurdjieff, understanding-though of course Gurdjieff had all the knowledge, too." ~ Paul Beekman Taylor
When I said, "I'm too old to begin this work - it's too late," Gurdjieff replied, "Never too late, but now it is twice as hard." ~ Solita Solano
Without self knowledge, without understanding the working and functions of his machine, man cannot be free, he cannot govern himself and he will always remain a slave. ~ G. I. Gurdjieff
You must want to change more than wanting things outside of you to change ~ Derek Lamar
October 23 ~ Sunday 2005
Anger is the frustration which emerges from the trapped pain which is not able to communicate and resolve the seemingly endless discomfort of heartbreak. ~ Dr. Derek Lamar
Feel the feeling and observe it like a leaf floating upon the water ~ D.L.

Is there life on Mars? ~ David Bowie (Is There Life On Mars?)
Is there life on earth? Is there death or is it a dream? Wake up!
October 21 ~ Friday 2005
Androgyny is not merely having the characteristics of both "male and female" but it is the Oneness of reality which is expressing its ongoingness as "out and back" which reveals itself as male and female. It is the giving and the receiving. It is the left and the right. It is the thinking and the feeling. It is the question and the answer. Duality is something else altogether. Duality is separateness which expresses error rather than Truth. ~ Dr. Derek Lamar
She walked like a woman and talked like a man. Oh my Lola - Ray Davies
October 20 ~ Thursday 2005
Despite the fears of some and the appetites of others, there is truth to the concept that enlightenment requires a realization of God as the androgyne. Not necessarily by that term, but by the understanding that both the male and the female attributes, by which we divide ourselves as a race of people, must come together as one force which exemplifies the Oneness that is God and the Wholeness that is a principle as real as any scientific law and as necessary as is the air we now breathe. This has nothing to do with sexuality in the human sense, but it does have everything to do with the sensuality that is of Divine dedication to the principle of Love being the lost partner in the pursuit of ultimate intellectual freedom and emotional release. ~ Dr. Derek Lamar
Excuse me while I kiss the sky ~ Jimi Hendrix
October 19 ~ Wednesday 2005
Some people have found it strange that the teaching on this website is Fourth Way and metaphysical and ontological. It really is not that strange. Basically what Gurdjieff taught was metaphysical though some think of it more as philosophical. The truth is, what Gurdjieff taught was what he called Esoteric Christianity which is what Jesus actually taught but people turned it into religion rather than a way to discover themselves. Christianity was even called "The Way" before it was called Christianity. Ontology is the science of being and being can be taken directly to the "I AM" concept which again, brings us to the esoteric knowing of our Self, our Being, our Reality. These teachings are not foreign to each other and in fact compliment each other. There is a meaning to this madness which can bring about sanity. Go for it. ~ Dr. Derek Lamar
Life is real only then when I AM ~ Gurdjieff
October 18 ~ Tuesday 2005
Traditional psychiatric therapy just doesn't appeal to the public at large. They don't like the stigma of feeling that they have mental problems. Whereas spiritual counseling opens up a whole new territory. It is entirely different to realize that there is a you who is okay, better than okay... divine. Your "I AM" self is the same self which is the Mind of Christ. The shadows of confusion do not damage who you really are. You simply must begin to see you are unfolding a perfect reality which is the True World which has been but a dream up to this point. This new state of consciousness is enlightenment. To wake up and begin to realize what the Universe is as Infinite Mind and you are One with that Mind is incredible. ~ Dr. Derek Lamar
A Magic Carpet Ride

October 17 Monday 2005

In recent years there have been many reports of a growing impatience with psychiatry, with its seeming foreverness, its high cost, its debatable results, and its vague, esoteric terms. To many people it is like a blind man in a dark room looking for a black cat that isn't there. The magazines and mental-health associations say psychiatric treatment is a good thing, but what it is or what it accomplishes has not been made clear. Although hundreds of thousands of words about psychiatry are consumed by the public yearly, there has been little convincing data to help a person in need of treatment overcome the cartoon image of psychiatrists and their mystical couches. ~ Thomas A. Harris, M.D. (I'm OK -- You're OK, 1967)
Here kitty, kitty, kitty...
October 16 Sunday 2005
Thinking from the standpoint that you are the presence or being of the only I or Ego, God, finite conceptions fade out. Life, Truth, Love are abstractions until given entity; and Life, Truth, Love are meaningless to you really until you can say, "I am Life, Truth, Love --- manifest." In thus eliminating the human, limiting viewpoint, you no longer have a human being to deal with. Divine man is revealed instead, in all the glory of Divinity. Don't hesitate to recognize and accept the fact that this is you and always was you, and that it is the I Am of what appears to be your patient. ~ John Booker (The Magic of Knowing, 1955)
Cogito Ergo Sum ~ I Think Therefore I AM ~ Je Pense Donc Je Suis
October 15 ~ Saturday 2005
I can think of no other time when it has been more important to consider the needs of the human soul. The twentieth century has been dominated by a worldview that glorifies a mechanistic, rationalistic focus at the expense of the inner life. The ravages that have been wreaked on the planet as a result of this dissociation from the essential self have reached crisis proportions. Yes, just as the individual unconscious knows when a person's survival is threatened, I believe the collective unconscious knows when group survival is in danger. Beyond the level of the rational mind is an awareness that without our souls, we are without our power, and without our power, we will die. ~ Marianne Williamson (Handbook For The Soul by Richard Carlson and Benjamin Shield, 1995)
How many of you are willing to recover your soul?
October 14 ~ Friday 2005
The Law of Assumption is a principle by which what you believe in comes to pass. The Law of Assumption works because you create a vacuum for change as you believe and visualize within your consciousness a manifestation of activities or things or events or changes. Assume a virtue and you will have one happens based on this Law as you create the possibility for success in that which you desire. As the Bible says: As a man thinks in his heart so is he. It is consciousness and thinking which brings things about in life. ~ Dr. Derek Lamar
Think about it!
October 13 ~ Thursday 2005
Don't reach for the stars without going outside and looking up. ~ Dr. Derek Lamar
On earth as it is in heaven
October 12 ~ Wednesday 2005
The search for God is a road which travels downhill before it ever lifts one up. First you fall down and eventually you must stand before God and if you are lucky you can walk with God and he with you. The world is dripping with ego when it comes to God. "My God is the right one", we think. How arrogant are we? How do we know that our God is right. That doesn't depend on our God. That merely depends on our belief that that is true. We want to believe our God and our religion is the right one so we can be right and someone else is wrong. We don't want to be wrong because we learned as children that when we were wrong we were punished, but worse... much worse... we learned we were no longer one with those around us. Because now we were inferior. So we believe in our religion and in our God though we've never been formally introduced and to prove it we will destroy the world. First there is a mountain then there is no mountain then there is. First there is a God, then there is no God, then there is. ~ Dr. Derek Lamar
Look upon my garden gate... a snail, that's what it 'tis. ~ Donovan Leitch
October 11 ~ Tuesday 2005
The search for God, or Truth or Reality is an ageless, timeless, motivating action which has prompted humankind to reach for the stars long after they reached for the apple. To divine reality merely through observation without pursuing the art of thinking would be a futile task. This is because what we observe is a result of our thinking process. To think about things would be just as futile if it weren't for the Quantum Leap which is available to those who reach beyond the apple and toward the stars. To grasp infinity even as a concept releases a thinking within one's being that transports one into a place where there is no space or time and from there we wrestle to know that which is already within us to know. ~ Dr. Derek Lamar
And life flows on within you and without you ~ George Harrison
October 10 ~ Monday 2005
Physical concepts are free creations of the human mind, and are not, however it may seem, uniquely determined by the external world. In our endeavour to understand reality we are somewhat like a man trying to understand the mechanism of a closed watch. He sees the face and the moving hands, even hears it ticking, but he has no way of opening the case. If he is ingenious he may form some picture of the mechanism which could be responsible for all the things he observes, but he may never be quite sure his picture is the only one which could explain his observations. He will never be able to compare his picture with the real mechanism and he cannot even imagine the possibility of the meaning of such a comparison. ~ Albert Einstein
We're so sorry... Uncle Albert
October 9 ~ Sunday 2005
There is way too much time spent on trying to get "Science" to validate the paranormal and situations in life which need to be understood as consciousness rather than events in the physical realm. We would do better to understand Consciousness in the way of a Mind Science so that our physical sciences could better adapt to the Universe as Mind and not matter. Then the sciences actually could begin to operate in a rational manner as it pertains to manifestations of mind in whatever form, be it intuition, psychic moments, ghosts, astral travel, telepathy, psychometry, et al. Think about it! That would be the model... think about it! ~ Dr. Derek Lamar
Think about it... Mind is all there is!
October 8 ~ Saturday 2005
The I am I of existence is the ontology of our being. For us to have choice and free will we must exist as consciousness. That which is not conscious can't make a choice. That which is not conscious does not have free will and can't exercise the power of choice.
The first choice is a choice of consciousness. A choice to understand this moment of NOW and that I Am I...I exist as consciousness aware of itself as consciousness. ~ C. Suzanne Deakins, Ph.D. (Choice and Free Will from We The Unspoken, 2005)
And to be is to do and to do is forever
October 7 ~ Friday 2005
The first commitment any of us must make is to consciousness. The commitment to accepting our existence as consciousness (I AM I), comes before any choice or exercise of free will is accomplished. When we commit to consciousness we are saying that we exist, that our consciousness is the causer and our life the effect of our consciousness. ...For us to free ourselves from the dreams and attachments of the ego we must make a commitment to staying present in the moment of NOW. The ego and the dream state are like 2+2=5 they have no existence in reality. When we stay present and recognize the reality, TRUTH, or that which is so, the ego, like 2+2=5, no longer has any existence. ....Choice and freewill demand lucidity in the midst of our dreams. To have choice and free will we must be willing to commit our being, our consciousness, to that which is so: TRUTH and reality. With each breath commit your being to TRUTH and consciousness. Each time you exhale allow your dream state to dissipate. ~ C. Suzanne Deakins, Ph.D. (Choice and Free Will from We The Unspoken, 2005)
And allow Reality to become clear, within and without
October 6 ~ Thursday 2005
You found your emotions erupting as if a distant trumpet had sounded, calling you to the lava at sunset. And there you are, barefoot, in tears with everything welling up inside. It may have started when you first stepped off the plane in Kona. Or the feeling may have caught you off-guard when you saw the hula, even though you may have seen it many times before. Perhaps it was a simple Hawaiian song amid the tropical beauty and, all of a sudden, there was a lump in your throat. If so, this is the beginning of your "call home" --- not necessarily to the island outside, but to the Paradise within you. To you dear one, Aloha. ~ Pila of Hawaii
To you sweetheart, Aloha, Aloha from the bottom of my heart
October 5 ~ Wednesday 2005
Reach out beyond yourself and you will discover who you are. You are just on the other side of that wall you call your reality. That reality that you live in day to day is but a shadow of the True Reality which is the source of who you are. You are divine and you are the Mind which dreamed all of this up. You must wake up to who you are by first realizing that you are asleep. Then you must realize that who you are is always Awake. You are knowing. You are Love. You are Joy. You are Mind. You are today and forever. You are the perfection of everything which allows you to glimpse into Eternity. You are One. ~ Dr. Derek Lamar
And as they looked upon each other they realized they were One
October 4 ~ Tuesday 2005
Everything in life is symbolic. Everything has a meaning. Everything communicates something abstract which has meaning for everyone but also specific for you perhaps in a special way. The world is made up of ideas and it is consciousness. What you perceive is thought in everything you see and all thought has an esoteric side to it. Example: A tree stands in the shade. Trees represent knowledge and can symbolize ideas or wisdom or even family ancestors, i.e., family tree. Most trees stand so that represents that they are committed to what they represent. Just as you might take a stand for something. The shade represents the blocking of light which could mean hiding or deprived of information. But probably the shade or shadow represents the esoteric or hidden part of life or consciousness as we see it in mystical circles. Perhaps hidden as in the subconscious mind. A tree standing in the shade might very well represent the wealth of knowledge available to you on the mystical side of Reality which is waiting for you to commit to. But you would know this better as you discover it for yourself. Metaphysics has its own CSI operating within its science: Conscious Spiritual Investigation. Welcome aboard! ~ Dr. Derek Lamar

"Mind is the Master Power that moulds and makes
And Man is Mind, and evermore he takes
The Tool of thought, and shaping what he wills,
Brings forth a thousand joys, a thousand ills;
He thinks in secret and it comes to pass;
Environment is but his looking glass.
- James Allen (As A Man Thinketh)
Thoughts are things and things are thoughts, mind you
October 2 ~ Sunday 2005
It is natural to care about other people because there are no other people. There is only you. You are all there is. That being the case, everyone you know about is actually your consciousness and thus they are you. When you care about others you are actually caring about yourself. And when you do not care about others you are not caring about yourself. To do no harm to others is not enough. It is imperative that you care about others since it is the active realization of the Self knowing Self. To "do unto others as you would have them do unto you" is often overlooked in its implications. It goes way beyond simply not actively hurting someone. Sometimes it is doing to someone what you would know to be right to be done to you. This means that sometimes telling someone the truth about something, though on the surface might seem like causing pain, is actually doing them a favor. But the implications of this goes to motive, intention and self awareness. Nothing is simple but often requires great thought and introspection. What else do we have to do... really? ~ Dr. Derek Lamar
Reach out and love yourself through the knowing of the Universe
October 1 ~ Saturday 2005
"As Kimball (metaphysician) put it, when confronted with sickness, do you have to heal a body? Certainly not, since the whole thing is mental, having nothing to do with matter as such. After all, what you are confronted with is a picture in mind. And whose mind? he asks. 'In the mind, so called, of the practitioner,' he answers. The very first step is for the practitioner to recognize that what he calls a patient is a mental picture, disease and all, which can only be met mentally. His work really has nothing to do with matter -- or -- with his patient, as far as that is concerned. He must first of all clear his own mentality. This is not only the first thing, but the last thing, for when he has done this he will find that this is all he has to do, all that he ever can do. Following this line of thought, in 1936 Bicknell Young said: 'Treat yourself; always start with yourself, and your patient is healed." ~ Arthur Corey (The Magic of Knowing by Richard Booker)
