Q.M.I. Presents Derek Lamar's
January Quote of the Day 2006

January 31 Tuesday 2006
In the midst of a universe of swirling confusion one must realize that out of that chaos is a realization of order waiting to be discovered within. The confusion we perceive outside of ourselves is rooted in our own misunderstandings of ourself. Pause and accept the Truth that there is One Mind which is whole, complete and perfect... and that Mind is YOU. It is not you as much as you are it. Do not confuse that self of power as having anything to do with the ego self which holds you hostage to a world of duality. The ego self eminates from that state of mind which believes that it is separate from everything else and this is rooted in the consciousness of duality. Do not put faith in this thinking. The Truth of One Mind is the Absolute which has the answers which resolves and dissolve all problems. All problems are illusion. You cannot change your world, you can only change your awareness of it. When that is done, all is renewed in the twinkling of an eye. ~ Dr. Derek Lamar
With Allness come Infinity which leaves nothing out but illusion

As far as we can discern, the sole purpose of human existence is to kindle a light in the darkness of mere being.~ Carl Jung
There is always one moment in childhood when the door opens and lets the future in. ~ Deepak Chopra
Believe nothing, no matter where you read it, or who said it, no matter if I have said it, unless it agrees with your own reason and your own common sense. ~ Buddha
In the midst of movement and chaos, keep stillness inside of you. ~ Deepak Chopra
All that we see is but a dream within a dream. ~ Edgar Allan Poe
All that we are is made up of our thought. ~ Emma Curtis Hopkins
There will be a time when you believe everything is finished. That will be the beginning. ~ Louis L' Amour
Life is that combination of Light which unfolds Truth in all directions ~ D.L.

Happy Birthday to my beloved wife. What greater day could there be than her being born? If she hadn't been born I would not have someone to share the discoveries of Mind and Truth and Consciousness. If she hadn't been born I wouldn't have the opportunity of the mirror I use for my introspection and my growth. If she hadn't been born neither would I have been born because clearly we were meant for each other. It is not so much that we depend on each other as much as we discover more about ourselves as a result of our interaction on a Path which is so much the same it constantly reminds us that we are ONE. Nancy, I love you as life itself for you reveal life everyday to me as I look into your eyes. ~ Derek
If there was not Love, the universe would spin out of control and vanish

Realizing that our actions, feelings and behaviour are the result of our own images and beliefs gives us the level that psychology has always needed for changing personality. ~ Maxwell Maltz
It is as if there were in the human consciousness a sense of reality, a feeling of objective presence, a perception of what we may call "something there," more deep and more general than any of the special and particular "senses" by which the current psychology supposes existent realities to be originally revealed. ~ William James
All despotisms should be considered problems of mental hygiene, and all support of censorship should be considered as problems of abnormal psychology. Theodore Schroeder
In order to understand the mind one must understand the soul. And to understand the soul one must understand that in back of time, space and change there is a basic reality which echoes what is true despite our delusions to the contrary. This is the psychology of a new millennium. ~ Dr. Derek Lamar
But which psychology are we talking about?
January 27 Friday 2006
Much of what society, and the world as well, is going through, has to do with diverse states of consciousness which seem to polarize and reflect our sexuality with male and female having nothing to do with gender but inclinations of states of mind. As we get closer to becoming "One" which symbolizes androgyny and the coming together of both aspects of human duality we see the collective unconsciousness react and resist as it and the "ego" hold on for dear life and refusing to change. This results in extreme anxiety and anger and hostility and sensitivity on both sides and rather than coming together the connection tightens a little more. Eventually this will snap and there will be a coming together. Those who do this via their own inner work will do themselves a great favor and those who do not will feel the whip of the snap as the whiplash effect forces them to face themselves in a confused manner. ~ Dr. Derek Lamar
And in the beginning it was male and female just as it shall be in the end

What we do for ourselves dies with us. What we do for others and the world remains and is immortal. ~ Albert Pine
When it is dark enough, you can see the stars. ~ Charles A. Beard
In order to live forever, you must die many times. ~ Dr. Derek Lamar
Time passes only itself therefore Infinity reigns supreme
January 25 Wednesday 2006
The time is NOW when you could best help yourself and make the right decision. Your destiny is waiting for you to make the right choice NOW and then later in the NOW you will affirm that choice by realizing the intention which has brought you to that place. Know that you are YOU as the Being of Higher Knowing and that everything not only depends on you but all that IS, actually is a result of you and any change in you will change everything you know and perceive.
The Esoteric Now is INFINITY... Allness

I want to add the mystical spirit of the East to the scientific spirit of the West. The Oriental spirit is right, but only in its trends and general ideas. The Western spirit is right in its methods and techniques. Western methods alone are effective in history. I want to create a type of sage who will unite the spirit of the East with Western techniques. ~ G. I. Gurdjieff

Quantum Metaphysics has the spirit of the East with Western techniques

Only when we die to all ideas of who we are do we understand Mystical Science...the science of "what we are." ~ Emma Curtis Hopkins

"I AM" all there is... being

January 22 Sunday 2006

It has to be inferred that by 1914 the Seekers of Truth had succeeded in their quest, for in the autumn of that year Ouspensky records his first meeting with Gurdjieff. “I realised,” he writes, “that I had met with a completely new system of thought surpassing all I had known before. This system threw quite a new light on psychology and explained what I could not understand before in esoteric ideas.” From this time onwards, since among his pupils there was now one taking notes, Gurdjieff—though only in so far as he himself wished to be—was in the eye of history. For the first two years of the First World War he elaborated his teachings to groups in Petersburg and Moscow, but with the onset of revolution, flight was inevitable. His journey with his followers through Russia to the Caucasus, then to Constantinople and at last to the West has all the elements of a modern thriller. But it is given an epic quality and extra dimension by the fact that Gurdjieff used the hardships and dangers—always for him the true stuff of existence—to exemplify his teaching and required of his pupils that they should escape not merely with their lives but with their Life. It was not until 1922 that he succeeded in his aim of bringing to the West what he had found in the East by establishing his pilgrim band at the Château du Prieuré, near Fontainebleau, where he founded his Institute for the Harmonious Development of Man. ~ P. L. Travers (Gurdjieff.org)

Davolna! ... and think about it!

So much talk about UFO's. Vehicles which transport aliens from there to here. Aliens with superior knowledge and technology and Higher States of Consciousness. Vehicles represent communication. Aliens with superior knowledge represent "Strangers in a strange land", i.e., Moses, i.e., spiritual guides. But spiritual guides are there to help you change inside. Most people interested in UFO's do not want to change inside. They want someone from "out there" to make all things better. The desire to have things be "all better" is an indication that more and more people are approaching that "place"... that "state of consciousness" where they WILL soon be ready to meet a stranger in a strange land: themselves. ~ Dr. Derek Lamar
I looked up and... I opened my heart to the whole universe

January 20 Friday 2006

Horace P. Mann said: "Be ashamed to die until you have won some victory for humanity. "But in the spiritual sense it might be translated: "Be unsatisfied until you achieve personal breakthroughs in consciousness which allow your Real Self to be expressed" This is your Destiny. You might feel some special talent within you which will allow you to achieve that goal. You will understand it when you get to that point. And you must then continue to do your work to follow that Light within you to achieve that goal. Intention is something very similar. Intention is that energy which is pushing you like a great force of energy behind you and it is always directing you toward your better good. This "better good" is the knowing of Mind and your role in that. This is to achieve your Destiny. Destiny is that which is drawing you for the most part whereas Intention is that which is pushing you to get there. This whole process is one which is expressing the Oneness which Mind is and the Intention is the "out" of the male force and the Destiny is the "back" of the female force whereby their meeting achieves the Oneness of that which always is, was and will be. ~ Dr. Derek Lamar (Spiritual Psychology, 2006)

Intention and Destiny: The Process of Unfolding

January 19 Thursday 2006

What is a victim? You are being victimized whenever you find yourself out of control of your life. The key word is CONTROL. If you are not pulling the strings, then you are being manipulated by someone or something else. You can be victimized in an endless number of ways. A victim as described here is not "first of all" someone who is taken advantage of through criminal activity. You can be robbed or swindled in much more damaging ways when you give up your emotional and behavioral controls in the course of everyday life, through forces of habit. Victims are first of all people who run their lives according to the dictates of others. They find themselves doing things they really would rather not do, or being manipulated into activities loaded with unnecessary personal sacrifice that breeds hidden resentment. To be victimized, as I use the word here, means to be governed and checked by forces outside yourself; and while these forces are unquestionably ubiquitous in our culture, YOU CAN RARELY BE VICTIMIZED UNLESS YOU ALLOW IT TO HAPPEN. Yes, people victimize themselves in numerous ways, throughout the everyday business of running their lives. ~ Dr. Wayne Dyer (Pulling Your Own Strings, 1977)

No Noose Is Good Noose

January 18 Wednesday 2006
Life doesn't even begin until you begin to force yourself to deal with things which you would otherwise let go. Even if you think you are not making a difference to the world with your job, you can alter the Universe simply by changing inside. Work on it. ~ Dr. Derek Lamar
Move a grain of sand on the beach and change the shoreline forever
Move an obstacle within your consciousness and change all of humanity for Eternity... put everyone a step closer to knowing their Self.

January 17 Tuesday 2006

Life is never what you expect it to be. If it is, then there is definitely something you are refusing to look at. Creativity is the costume that Mind Unfolding wears all of the time. This is because there is always more to reality than what you have been seeing up to this point and more is ready to be revealed. Once you are open to this infinity of Mind and new door will open and a new journey will begin for you. That might be better than what you have at the moment or something altogether new. You won't be sorry. ~ Dr. Derek Lamar

Life is what you make it when you're busy making other plans. ~ John Lennon

Martin Luther King Day: The discovering of our humanity within another.
Like an unchecked cancer, hate corrodes the personality and eats away its vital unity. Hate destroys a man's sense of values and his objectivity. It causes him to describe the beautiful as ugly and the ugly as beautiful, and to confuse the true with the false and the false with the true. ~ Martin Luther King Jr.
Now, I say to you today my friends, even though we face the difficulties of today and tomorrow, I still have a dream. It is a dream deeply rooted in the American dream. I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: - 'We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal.' ~ Martin Luther King Jr.
...And I've looked over, and I've seen the promised land. I may not get there with you, but I want you to know tonight that we as a people will get to the promised land. So I'm happy tonight. I'm not worried about anything. I'm not fearing any man. ~ Martin Luther King Jr.
I submit to you that if a man hasn't discovered something he will die for, he isn't fit to live. ~ Martin Luther King Jr.

We can only realize the dream when we wake up from the nightmare ~ D.L.

High Flight
Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of earth
And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;
Sunward I've climbed, and joined the tumbling mirth
Of sun-split clouds - and done a hundred things
You have not dreamed of - wheeled and soared and swung
High in the sunlit silence. Hov'ring there
I've chased the shouting wind along, and flung
My eager craft through footless halls of air.
Up, up the long delirious, burning blue,
I've topped the windswept heights with easy grace
Where never lark, or even eagle flew -
And, while with silent lifting mind I've trod
The high unsurpassed sanctity of space,
Put out my hand and touched the face of God.
~ Pilot-Officer John Gillespie Magee, RCAF (September 3, 1941 while on flight duty in Digby, England. He was killed in an aircraft accident on December 11, 1941, only three months later at the age of 19.
Reach up high into yourself and touch the place of God

A Question of God
The question of whether or not there is a God is easy for both sides to answer but neither side thinks about the other side or about the side which doesn't exist yet to any great degree. To answer this question humanity must first decide for themselves a definition of God which is not defined by religion or by the general community of secular advocates. We attempt to define God through our own "human" thinking and then we paint a ficticious picture of God in an anthropomorphic way. Those who say there is no God invisions the meaning of God in an anthropomorphic way as does the religious community. We will never get anywhere doing this. We must begin to understand God as the abstract causeless cause, not the "First Cause" because there never was a "First Cause" in an abstract realm of consciousness which is defined by its own Infinity. If we begin to recognize that life itself is Infinite Intelligence which always was and always will be and this Mind is the Beingness which is the Ultimate Mathematical Reality which we have yet to comprehend, then we could possibly recognize that there is a "God". But we do not understand or agree on this definition and to believe in a cartoon version which requires nothing of us but to memorize a silly story or to agree to believe in nothing and continue our lives doing nothing, then we will get nowhere. ~ Dr. Derek Lamar
Raise your sites and know that what there is, is all there is
January 13 Friday 2006
Consciousness constantly unfolds more and more of its own glories, harmonies and truths. We should expect that Truth be continually better expressed or stated as time goes on. That which is said or written one day must not be accepted as final or the last word on Truth, inasmuch as Mind will continually unfold more and more understanding for there is no end to God or Mind nor to its unfoldment. Truth, in order to be known as Truth need not bear the stamp of any personality. Truth is its own authority whether it is uttered by this or by that individual. It is right and natural that we should be grateful and appreciative to everyone who sheds some light on our path, those who bring into our experience greater good, greater joy and a fuller sense of life. But we must get rid of the notion that there is any "authority" over us. Do not say or do or act in any particular way because of any certain one or ones "in authority." Look back over the records of those who have advanced themselves and helped humanity and you will note that they reasoned and acted independently and positively refused to consider any authority as ruling them other than the God within them, -- their highest, purest, holiest sense of right. Independent thinking and acting is the result of intelligence and is bound to bring forth greater good to the individual and greater good for humanity. ~ Lillian De Waters (The Perfect Vision, 1920)
Mind continues to unfold its Infinity

Abraham Lincoln once asked: "How many legs does a dog have if you call the tail a leg?" And before some of you pseudo-intellectuals start pushing your manila envelopes, it is clear that Abe was ahead of his time. Though we live in a world which rises to the call of the modern thinker who says that "whatever is, is" and those who rely on statements such as "It depends on what is, is" and that supposition that everything is relative and that everything is subjective but still it rules out true logic because it implies that there are no Absolutes and that there are no constants even though its own final conclusion which must cover all possible scenarios must, for the purpose of argument, be an Absolute. Thus Abraham Lincoln said of the legs of the dog: "Four; calling a tail a leg doesn't make it a leg." And this is why the Truth Seeker needs to continue their journey in order that the importance of meaning yet have meaning and that the world does not fall into the hands of those who would say that there is nothing to do but survive and yet in conclusion it would be for nothing. Because life would mean nothing except whatever you wanted it to mean. ~ Dr. Derek Lamar
A tale with a happy ending: "Always keep a leg up!"
January 11 Wednesday 2006
The human mind is not a wall but a building with many walls. It is amazing how much we can let in and how much we can keep out. So many windows to see so much and so many shadows to hide within. I once rode the elevator on the Bonaventure Hotel in Los Angeles. It is suspended along the outside of the building. It takes you right to the top and you can see everything, but it is scary because you are hanging out there, exposed and vulnerable. I felt myself gravitate toward the back wall as if that would help. Often when we can see so much it is then we feel so helpless and alone: just when we have it all in view. ~ Dr. Derek Lamar
Be the all you are

Skepticism about seeming mystical, paranormal, supernatural, metaphysical experiences is healthy up to a point. But when it goes beyond the ability to view all sides of a question all of the time in all of the areas then a bias has formed which prevents one from seeing beyond the tunnel vision they have accepted for themselves. Blindly being positive is better than blindly being negative. However, pursuing an objective viewpoint of the Self and Life and circumstances which arise is the most healthy journey one can dedicate themselves to. There has to be more to life than simply trying to survive. If one does nothing but survive they have actually become a casualty. ~ Dr. Derek Lamar
Strive to know more about what you do not know which pertains to who you really are

Fear is something we all experience but how often do we experience it without analyzing it. Do you realize that fear is not a conscious moment but rather a reaction based on subconscious beliefs. The truth is, we fear things based on false understanding. We believe that something is going to harm us and we choose to be afraid as if that reaction is one which will protect us. Remember the admonition, "what you fear, will befall you." This is to say that "you get what you put out." This means that your belief in the negative and its supposed outcome is what makes that possible. When you experience something which causes fear, do some research. Find out what it is about and find out what the truth, the Absolute Truth is about it. Go beyond the human relationship to his or her environment and begin to operate from the "I AM" perspective of your True Self. ~ Dr. Derek Lamar
"I AM" at peace and filled with the harmony of God

In the world to come, I shall not be asked, "Why were you not Moses?" I shall be asked, "Why were you not Zusya?" ~ Rabbi Zusya
If death is the doorway to another life, how odd it must be for the one crying on their death bed to die and suddenly discover themselves being slapped on the ass only to cry again and have their first deja vu. ~ Dr. Derek Lamar
Life long and prosper.

Art Bell's wife, Ramona Bell passes on...
UPDATE: For the very many of you who have asked where you may send cards and letters of condolence, they should be sent to: Art Bell, C/O Premiere Radio Networks, 15260 Ventura Blvd. Sherman Oaks, CA 91403. Please do not send flowers. The funeral will be private.
From Whitley Strieber: "While speaking to Art today, I made him aware of the beautiful and heartfelt outpouring of love and sympathy that has appeared in Unknowncountry's email. He was touched and, I believe, felt a sense of support in his grief. If you pray, do pray for Art to have strength and Ramona peace in this difficult period of separation for them."
Art Bell's beloved wife of fifteen years, Ramona, died unexpectedly early in the morning of Thursday, January 5 after an asthma attack. At present, the exact cause of Mrs. Bell's death has not been determined. It is known that death came during her sleep, and she did not suffer. Until her death, Art and Ramona Bell had not been apart a day since they were married. Mrs. Bell had suffered from asthma for years, and took her normal steps to control the attack, which occurred sometime last night (Jan. 5, 2006) in Laughlin, Nevada where the Bells were taking a brief vacation. Ramona Bell was 47 years old.
Life and Love is ongoing and separation is an illusion: I AM ONE

A considerable percentage of the people we meet on the street are people who are empty inside, that is, they are actually already dead. It is fortunate for us that we do not see and do not know it. If we knew what a number of people are actually dead and what a number of these dead people govern our lives, we should go mad with horror. ~ G. I. Gurdjieff
We must strive for freedom if we strive for self-knowledge. The task of self-knowledge and of further self-development is of such importance and seriousness, it demands such intensity of effort, that to attempt it any old way and amongst other things is impossible. The person who undertakes this task must put it first in his life, which is not so long that he can afford to squander it on trifles. ~ G. I. Gurdjieff
Without struggle, no progress and no result. Every breaking of habit produces a change in the machine. ~ G. I. Gurdjieff
When I give students insight into himself and his patterns, how often do they say, "Really?" and how often do they say, "No, that's not so." Even if you do not believe what you are being told by your Teacher, be willing to look inside and expose yourself to the possibility in order to achieve change. ~ Derek Lamar
Be willing to see the error in order that Truth rise to the occasion
January 5 Thursday 2006
What could be better than the dismantling of a myth which has held one hostage. Even if you cannot see the light at the end of the tunnel, removing the mask which has blinded you, will allow you to breath better. Then when you approach the light, you will be better prepared to recognize it. ~ Dr. Derek Lamar
Marching through Hell for a Heavenly cause
January 4 Wednesday 2006
Nothing could be more evident today that even an innocently misstated word can often hurt many people. Sometimes there is no one to blame and sometimes it is simply the eagerness of the ego to be the first to tell good news and somehow get credit for it rather than paying attention and being more concerned about being accurate. This is true in almost any situation. When you realize that there are no accidents in the universe however you can begin to view life's many unfoldments with a researcher eye. My prediction is that this mine will not only be closed down, but it will never open again. This whole incident has caused the world to focus on this mining operation and their many safety violations. ~ Dr. Derek Lamar
Peace be to the families and friends of the miners
January 3 Tuesday 2006
The remarkable thing is that we really love our neighbor as ourselves: we do unto others as we do unto ourselves. We hate others when we hate ourselves. We are tolerant toward others when we tolerate ourselves. We forgive others when we forgive ourselves. We are prone to sacrifice others when we are ready to sacrifice ourselves. ~ Eric Hoffer
To err is human, to forgive divine
January 2 Monday 2006

The dogmas of the quiet past are inadequate to the stormy present. The occasion is piled high with difficulty, and we must rise with the occasion. As our case is new, so we must think anew and act anew. ~ Abraham Lincoln

It takes a lot of courage to release the familiar and seemingly secure, to embrace the new. But there is no real security in what is no longer meaningful. There is more security in the adventurous and exciting, for in movement there is life, and in change there is power. ~ Alan Cohen

We do not grow absolutely, chronologically. We grow sometimes in one dimension, and not in another; unevenly. We grow partially. We are relative. We are mature in one realm, childish in another. The past, present, and future mingle and pull us backward, forward, or fix us in the present. We are made up of layers, cells, constellations. ~ Anais Nin

A new world is upon us, change is the key which will open our door to the future ~ D.L.

January 1 Sunday 2006

We are not born all at once, but by bits. The body first, and the spirit later; and the birth and growth of the spirit, in those who are attentive to their own inner life, are slow and exceedingly painful. Our mothers are racked with the pains of our physical birth; we ourselves suffer the longer pains of our spiritual growth. ~ Mary Antin, 1912
