Q.M.I. Presents Derek Lamar's
February Quote of the Day 2006

February 28 Tuesday 2006
W. Hugh Missildine, M.D. writes: “Feelings that seem undesirable and unreasonable keep recurring throughout our adult lives. We may blush if someone admires our clothes or compliments us. We may feel embittered toward those who love us. We may suspect without one iota of evidence that a storekeeper has shortchanged us or that a neighbor gossips about us. We may feel deeply annoyed by a child's casual acceptance of a gift which we have put much thought. (Your Inner Child of the Past)
The car doesn't work we want to find out why. The computer is not functioning properly and we quickly want to see the problem corrected. Our bank statement doesn't balance and we are impatient to discover the answer. But look at ourselves and take the time to discover what is amiss... forget it. Let's just live our life like a roulette wheel where the game is rigged and we are in such a hurry to return to our own little private hell. Or do you desire more than this? ~ Dr. Derek Lamar
Putting the puzzle together can be fun, exciting and rewarding
February 27 Monday 2006
The reason that there is “truth” to the reflection approach is because the ultimate Absolute Reality is that there is ONE MIND.  This Mind is infinitely expressing itself out and back to itself. This establishes the reality on all levels since there really is only one level. It doesn’t matter what you believe or what confused illusory state of consciousness you are operating within, the truth of reality is still what is being expressed in back of time, space and change. If Mind is expressing itself out and back to itself then you are expressing yourself out and back to yourself because you are Mind. ~ Dr. Derek Lamar (Spiritual Psychology, 2006)
Mind is expressing itself to itself: God, Self, I AM, Spirit, Beingness
February 26 Sunday 2006
Science and religion are coming together as ideas because they are not philosophical enemies. If there are spiritual truths it is only obvious that eventually science will not only confirm them to be true but also spirituality will begin to reveal abstract concepts which form a grid of scientific ideas and make sense out of what has been a philosophical art rather than a real science. The concept of “Intelligent Design” might seem to some to be a veiled attempt at opening the door to religious ideas in a secular community but we need to step back and consider the actual meaning to those words and how they might further 21st century science. In beginning to understand the holographic nature of our universe we can see the Intelligence and the Design as we began to really perceive life as thoughts and ideas within a Super Intelligence that is the actual Intention within us all. This Intelligence is “Mind knowing itself” and equally stated it would be “I AM”. The full understanding of that is “I AM that I AM” or “I am the result of myself” being the formula for ultimate existence and can be touched by nothing but the love that it represents. This love is the power of knowing the Oneness of the Self that heals and affirms Reality. It is Consciousness conscious of Consciousness. ~ Dr. Derek Lamar (Spiritual Psychology)
I AM that I AM = I AM the result of myself = Consciousness conscious of Consciousness

“As with many UFO contactees, Moi-ra and Ra-Ja Dove are convinced that the Aquarian Age is heralding in a new religion. Even the word religion will not be used anymore. For the main crux of the matter will have a much deeper sense of reality. The person will evolve out of believing in something into becoming something. The person will know what the religions of the ancient age have always tried to demonstrate: to be still and know that you are god! Indeed, this is the great new religion! Each and every person will know that he is god.” ~ Brad Steiger (The Fellowship)
Look up for thy redemption draweth nigh...

So often what becomes people's consciousness, their personality, as it were, is the accumulation of all that they believe about themselves which is not true. They become completely filled with who they are not, until there is no room for who they really are. What results from this is a depression which evolves out of the true manifestation of perceived emptiness as to what they hold onto as their illusory personality. It is not true, but they believe it is true even if they are not consciously aware of this. They carry this emptiness with them their whole lives until even what they carry is so heavy that they give up and end up functioning and feeling like they have nothing at all. Then this manifests in the things we hold onto... possessions, weight, emotions, patterns, habits. Our emotional stress resulting from the emptiness we originally felt forms constructs which satisfy the emptiness of the moment but then they become permanent states of consciousness which no longer serve any purpose other than to reflect negative feelings about ourselves which we do not let go of or resolve. ~ Dr. Derek Lamar
Think about what you think about
February 23 Thursday 2006
God is Infinite Mind, and that Mind is ever seeking for more and for new expression. "For such the Father seeketh to worship Him." Now, because you are a human being, you are intended to be a new point of expression for God -- a focal point in Infinite Mind, in fact, somewhat as an electric lamp may be regarded as a focal point for the manifestation of the electric current in the circuit. A focal point for the Divine Self-expression -- that is what you are intended to be; and if you are willing to become that, then you will be fulfilling your destiny, and you will experience absolutely perfect and unalloyed happiness and harmony, and eternal and unrestricted development. ~ Emmet Fox (Power Through Constructive Thinking)
To express Divine Self-expression is to be who you are
February 22 - Wednesday 2006
The first lesson in Truth is the word "God." Have you ever heard that there is a marvelous power in every word? It contains its own potentiality. You can see that if every word contains its own potentiality, then that word which all the world agrees contains the greatest power must be the greatest word. Plotinus (A.D.250) lost himself seven times in a trance of ecstasy by thinking over the word "God" in his mind. God was the beginning of all. God is the presence of all. The use of the word by Plotinus, Porphyr and Spinoza did not solve the mystery of existence for them, however. They yielded to death and feebleness, even falling into sickness sometimes, like other men and women. There was something lacking in their teaching, something lacking in their understanding of God, for the ideal of God is told as, "My words are life unto those that find them and health to all their flesh." ~ Emma Curtis Hopkins (Scientific Christian Mental Practice)
A picture is worth a thousand words, a word is worth a thousand pictures ~ Dr. Derek Lamar
February 21 - Tuesday 2006
Sometimes tearing apart the image of one's Teacher is necessary in order to let the spirit fly free. Like the saying, "If you meet the Buddha along the road, kill him", the meaning is that you must recognize that it is but an imposter which resides in the flesh of man and that the divinity of God is not to be found at home at the address of human form. But if you discover that God is living inside of you, wait upon him hand and foot. You will both be blessed. ~ Dr. Derek Lamar
Discover all that you can and then push for one more
February 20 - Monday 2006
Spontaneity is not simply the random exercise of doing whatever you want at a given moment. That is usually a pattern of escapism which is anything but spontaneous. A creative moment in time which emerges out of that which is timeless, is the free form of spirit expressing the abstract beingness which is life itself in a manner which also conforms to Absolute Order and harmony. When one has experienced this he or she will step back in awe of that moment and marvel at the wonder of what just occurred. It cannot be recaptured in an exact manner but it can be duplicated to enjoy the beauty of the original ideas which came together like the birth of continuity from an esoteric region of consciousness. That composition, whether it be music or painting or acting or dance or any creative expression will forever represent that original moment, but it will never be the original moment for that has passed into the infinite memories of an infinite mind. ~ Dr. Derek Lamar
What again?February 20 - Monday 2006

If you could believe the Truth about your Self, everything else would disappear. ~ Dr. Derek Lamar
What you can't achieve, can never happen

The personal life deeply lived always expands into truths beyond itself. ~ Anais Nin
People living deeply have no fear of death. ~ Anais Nin
The possession of knowledge does not kill the sense of wonder and mystery. There is always more mystery. ~ Anais Nin
Live life, not on the surface, but as it is in back of time, space and change
February 17 Friday 2006
Consciousness constantly unfolds more and more of its own glories, harmonies and truths. We should expect that Truth be continually better expressed or stated as time goes on. That which is said or written one day must not be accepted as final or the last word on Truth, inasmuch as Mind will continually unfold more and more understanding for there is no end to God or Mind nor to its unfoldment. Truth, in order to be known as Truth need not bear the stamp of any personality. Truth is its own authority whether it is uttered by this or by that individual. It is right and natural that we should be grateful and appreciative to everyone who sheds some light on our path, those who bring into our experience greater good, greater joy and a fuller sense of life. But we must get rid of the notion that there is any "authority" over us. Do not say or do or act in any particular way because of any certain one or ones "in authority." Look back over the records of those who have advanced themselves and helped humanity and you will note that they reasoned and acted independently and positively refused to consider any authority as ruling them other than the God within them, -- their highest, purest, holiest sense of right. Independent thinking and acting is the result of intelligence and is bound to bring forth greater good to the individual and greater good for humanity. ~ Lillian De Waters (The Perfect Vision)
The authority within you is the "I AM" that you are
February 16 Thursday 2006
Most of us think of our mind as our brain. And beyond that, we also think of our mind as our memories because we say that is what is in our mind. What else is in our mind? Well, it isn't what is in our mind but rather what our mind is. And what MIND is. Mind is the ability to create and govern thought. We might deal with what is in our mind, our consciousness, but we are MIND. We are the ability to produce and govern thought. But the thoughts themselves are not what we are, otherwise we would have to say that we were forever incomplete and this is not true. ~ Carl Jung
I think therefore I AM thinking; I AM thinking therefore I AM MIND
February 15 Wednesday 2006
Today in our neighborhood it is trash day. You ask: "What possible use is information like that to provide food for thought?" And yet, on a spiritual path, one finds themselves dealing with a lot of trash. We must, if we are to move forward and raise our consciousness, rid ourselves of a lot of baggage, and ultimately let go of that which is no longer any use to us. How much stuff do we hold onto which weights us down? How much debris which had a purpose once no longer serves a purpose and yet it clogs our pathways and crowds us out of our own opportunity to move about and express ourselves. This is what ideas and feelings become when they are not kept fresh and useful. Pretty soon we become lost amidst a plethora of junk. We find that our lives become filled with junk TV, non-nourishing food, gifts we never wanted, broken appliances we can't get rid of and so on. Break free of the burdens in your life and give yourself some breathing room. It is not just about giving yourself some space... but giving yourself some space to grow. ~ Dr. Derek Lamar
Open up and let go
February 14 Tuesday 2006
The heart is the personal organ we all possess upon which we can play the music of love. If you cannot love yourself, you will not be able to love someone else. And you can only love someone else as much as you can love yourself. Loving oneself is not a narcissistic pasttime. It is the state of knowing oneself and experiencing the joy of being at one. When you discover who you really are you will be able to accept others... and that truly is love. ~ Dr. Derek Lamar
Words of the heart beat to attunement
February 13 Monday 2006
As you work to know yourself you do the will of God. As you work to know yourself you begin to know God. As you begin to know God you will discover that only that closeness which is perceived in the state of love does one realize that Oneness is an option and an ultimate reality. ~ Dr. Derek Lamar (Spiritual Psychology, 2006)
That which happens is but our own inability to perceive the whole Truth
February 12 Sunday 2006
One must say to themselves that “I AM” Mind which is whole, complete and perfect therefore any condition “I AM” is whole, complete and perfect.” This is not structuring or pre-determining an outcome, but rather recognizing the Reality which is, was and always shall be. Never is the appearance of “illness” true therefore it could never be the will of God or Mind or Principle or Truth or Being. Understanding the “Oneness” which is Reality begins a process by which mathematics takes control and infinity begins to operate and eats away at our belief in limitations, boundaries, time, quantities of any kind whether it be the appearances of physicality or matters of the mind or heart. ~ Dr. Derek Lamar (Spiritual Psychology, 2006)
That which happens is but our own inability to perceive the whole Truth

Deepak Chopra known for his metaphysical references through his work as a writer and speaker has critics in the scientific community because of his discussions of quantum physics and healing because these people feel that general confusion as to new science is being perpetuated by "New Agers" and the inclusion of ideas such as decoherence, quantum measurement and the Heisenberg uncertainty principle. But these researchers and critics do not understan the metaphysical side to the question. They also do not really understand Quantum Theory either because it isn't a totally resolved issue so there isn't any one way to look at it. I do feel that the two will come together, however, and by understanding the metaphysical you are more likely to understand new science than the other way around. ~ Dr. Derek Lamar
Shifts Happen
February 10 Friday 2006
The microcosm and the macrocosm of life and the world is the revealing of the reflective nature of the universe. We can discover the holographic nature of reality as we perceive the absolute reality in the largest and the smallest of all existence. We can discover in our self and in a small part of ourself the DNA which is consistent throughout our being just as the universe and reality is expressed as Consciousness and always agrees with itself and in all things as thoughts perpetuate the infinite in its attributes of Truth, God, Reality, Existence, Beingness, Spirit, I AM. ~ Dr. Derek Lamar
As you listen you will hear the words you first spoke... let there be

You are a child of the Universe, no less than the moon and the stars; you have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the Universe is unfolding as it should. ~ Max Ehrmann
Often ordinary people do extraordinary things. I am an ordinary person, as such, today I will do something extraordinary. ~ Madeleine E. Belliard
A loving person lives in a loving world. A hostile person lives in a hostile world. Everyone you meet is your mirror. ~ Ken Keys Jr.
God comforts the disturbed and disturbs the comfortable. ~ Unknown author
If you would learn the secret of right relations look only for the divine in people and things, and leave all the rest to God. ~ J. Allen Boone
Listen to your heart and think about it

One of the great thinkers of this period, Sir Arthur Eddington, has said that ‘Mind is the first and most direct thing in our experience, all else is remote inference.’ Is it reasonable to assume that consciousness ---
The eye with which the Universe, Beholds itself and knows itself ---
...is simply a thing among other things to be placed alongside the river or the stone? In another connection Eddington expresses his conviction that ‘The Mind has the power to affect groups of atoms and even tamper with the odds of atomic behavior, and that even the course of the world is not predetermined by physical laws but may be altered by the uncaused volition of human beings.’
“The basic question is, can mind illumine its own path, select the direction in which it will go, or is man a helpless puppet in the hands of his own body? It is to mind, or consciousness, that we must look for the key to life's meaning. As Milton said, ‘The mind is its own place and in itself can make a heaven of hell --- a hell of heaven.’
“There is a passage in Bhagavad-Gita (The Song of the Blessed) which reads, ‘Man is made by his belief. As he believes, so he is.’” ~ John K. Williams (The Wisdom of Your Subconscious Mind, 1964)
As A Man Thinketh, So Is He
February 7 Tuesday 2006
What comes to mind in the midst of all of this is the time in America where certain Christians were offended when people would use the word "XMAS" instead of Christmas. They would rant and rave about how the secular society has taken "Christ" out of Christmas. Of course the "X" had long been a symbol for Christ amongst educated Christians and was a cross and the first letter for Christ as well and the second letter for "Fish" in Greek which symbolized Christianity. Now "Christmas" is being removed from the "Holiday Season" even though "Holiday" means "Holy Day" but many people don't even know that. It used to be "beauty is in the eye of the beholder" or more closely to this "one man's trash is another man's treasure" which brings to mind that famous American Philosopher who said: "Can't we all just get along!" ~ Rodney King... But I say keep freedom of the press going because at least we will immediately know, no matter how offensive, what people are actually thinking in their mind's and feeling in their hearts. In this way, as Michael Corleone said in the Godfather: "There are many things my father taught me here in this room. He taught me: keep your friends close, but your enemies closer." So you can keep your eye on them, of course. And hey, if you are not allowed to create the image of Mohammed, how does anyone know what he looked like. And if they don't know what he looked like, how do they know that is him in those cartoons. The point in not creating an image of Mohammed is so that people won't worship him. So what do they do? They worship him anyway. Say goodnight Gracie! Long live Rumi!!! ~ Rama L. Kered
"In the 13th Century Mohammed gave his followers a bit of advice that it would be well for us to follow today. He said, 'If thou has two loaves of bread, sell one and buy white hyacinths for thy soul.' By this he meant that as the physical body needs food to sustain it, so also does the soul need spiritual nourishment for its sustenance. This food which the soul requires is sweetness, purity, fragrance, and beauty. Unless your soul is fed as well as your physical body, your body cannot compensate for the loss that comes from this soul starvation. No amount of material supply will recompense you for the loss of soul-satisfaction." ~ Robert W. Caswell
Man lives not by bread alone but on every word which proceeds from the mouth of God. ~ Yeshua Hama Shiach

A major problem for all forms of psychotherapy is to motivate the patient to do what needs to be done. He must return to "unfinished business" which he left unfinished in the past because it was so painful that he had to flee. Now, if he is encouraged to go back and finish it, it is still painful; it reactivates his misery, and from the short-run view, it is still to be avoided. How can he be kept at the task --- ultimately, how can he keep himself at the task --- when there is such a quantity of unpleasantness to live through? ~ Frederick Perls, M.D., Ph. D. (Gestalt Therapy
The patient, specifically the Truth Seeker, or student of metaphysics, must recognize that the help they need must be of their own choosing and that in order to raise their consciousness it is necessary to undergo change. This change requires the self observation necessary to look at oneself and to let go of that which no longer serves you and accept the Truth in its place and recognize one's divinity and the divinity reflected in everything in their world. ~ Dr. Derek Lamar
Seek the Light Within By Waking Up To The Shadows
February 5 Sunday 2006
Gurdjieff talked about conscious suffering.  This is to become aware of the self, the human self, and all of its pains and subconscious discomforts emotionally which control  the self, but to observe this from your awake "I AM"  self. This is the beginning. To view the faults but not to let  the earthquake shake you. To use self-observation but not to identify with the person your subconscious thinks it is. In this  manner you can begin to awaken. You do this by realizing that  this is not your real self, because what you are is mind, consciousness, which is not even connected to the appearances of what you might  perceive, what you might observe. ~ Dr. Derek Lamar

Often there are those searching ancient manuscripts to find some "lost truth" here or there in hopes of discovering a clue in the journey to find a formula, or a code, or a principle with which to decipher the meaning of LIFE and they have all concluded that what is in the Bible is only what the "Church" allowed to be there. The fact is the "Truth" can be found within the words of Jesus and much of the New Testament as well as the old testament but often the case is you need to know what it is you are looking for and how it appears in communication in order to begin to recognize it. In other words, you need to understand much of the mystery in order to discover the secret messages which are already there. Much like the "Catch 22" of the Screen Actors Guild: You have to get work to be in the union but you have to be in the union to get work. All "mysteries" which are attributed to Jesus (or Yeshua) are those which relate to the Consciousness of "I AM". Thus anyone recognizing their own divinity is coming to a realization of "I AM". Just as Moses when he came to know God as "I AM that I AM" which relates his own awareness of himself. This is the Great Mystery of the YHWH. But the New Testament is filled with verbal references which reflect a divine mathematical understanding. Not sacred geometry or some alchemical formula but the simplistic understanding which reveals the Allness and Oneness of Reality as mathematical and as Infinitely expressed. Just as we know that mathematics is "the same yesterday, today and forever" we also can read this of the "I AM" as represented by Jesus. When Jesus is asked of praying he replied, "Believe that you have it already." And when you add 2 + 2 and come to 4 you must understand and know that it was 4 even before you added the numbers together: any numbers. And even before you add 2 + 2 together the answer is already 4. "I AM the first and the last, the alpha and the omega" thus INFINITY. ~ Dr. Derek Lamar
Be still and know that "I AM"
February 2 Thursday 2006
As Viktor Frankl observed from within the concentration camp: "I became disgusted with the state of affairs which compelled me, daily and hourly, to think of only such trivial things. I forced my thoughts to turn to another subject. Suddenly I saw myself standing on the platform of a well-lit, warm and pleasant lecture room. In front of me sat an attentive audience on comfortable upholstered seats. I was giving a lecture on the psychology of the concentration camp! All that oppressed me at that moment became objective, seen and described from the remote viewpoint of science. By this method I succeeded somehow in rising above the situation, above the sufferings of the moment, and I observed them as if they were already of the past. Both I and my troubles became the object of an interesting psychoscientific study undertaken by myself. What does Spinoza say in his Ethics? 'Emotion, which is suffering, ceases to be suffering as soon as we form a clear and precise picture of it.'" ~ Viktor E. Frankl
Be still and know that "I AM" God

One way of "reading" another's thoughts is simply to observe these very slight muscular reactions to ideas that course through the person's mind. Every thought, theoretically, has its counterpart in some muscular change in the body; and if one can read these expressions --- which are very simple in the matter of smiling and frowning --- he has developed a capacity very useful in the understanding of other people's characters. There are many signs by which one can observe nervousness during the interview, such as the counselee's crossing and recrossing of his legs, or grasping the arms of the chair tightly, or holding himself taut in any way. In such cases we ask ourselves, why does this individual have to be nervous; what, in other words, is he hiding or inwardly struggling with? And the answer to these questions will lead us into his personality problem. ~ Rollo May (The Art of Counseling)
One communicates their thoughts and their feelings. And with regards to their thoughts, they usually have feelings about them. And their thoughts about their feelings are usually based on other feelings. So communication is probably 80% emotional and 20% intellectual. ~ Dr. Derek Lamar
To be conscious is to be awake but for the most part humans are asleep
