Q.M.I. Presents Derek Lamar's
August 2006 Quote of the Day

August 31 ~ Thursday 2006
We pride ourselves on our ability to interpret the face of reality in sophisticated and intuitive ways but still this does not mean that one has discovered the Truth. Learning the "facts" can often be stepping stones to uncovering what you need for your journey but your journey is still moving onward to discover the Truth. ~ Dr. Derek Lamar
A journey is the floating about toward one's self
August 30 ~ Wednesday 2006
Open yourself up to free flow fantasy. Visualize in your mind anything you wish. Let your thoughts unfold like a dream. You can structure here and there but let it be loose and flowing and observe what takes place. It might seem like a dream. It might feel very intuitive. It might be very pleasant and even sensual. It might be disturbing. Whatever your experience come to terms with the fact that this is your subconscious at work and you can observe your consciousness in this manner to get a better idea of what you are going through at any given time. ~ Dr. Derek Lamar
The mind is all you've got... use it
August 29 ~ Tuesday 2006
Discovering oneself on a "Path" requires several paths at the same time. It is very much a matter of multi-tasking. You need to deal with the psychological aspects. You must begin to understand the spiritual realm. You need to view body language and many avenues of self-observation. This sounds complex but we are doing it already. The main thing is if you begin to operate on this path consciously you will discover that your work and your results will accelerate. Welcome home. ~ Dr. Derek Lamar
If pursuing spirituality was fast, you would have to believe in time.
August 28 ~ Monday 2006
The purpose of friends is not to avoid lonliness. The purpose is to understand forgiveness of others and of your self. ~ Dr. Derek Lamar
Let go of guilt and anger and you will discover peace and harmony
August 27 ~ Sunday 2006
Everyday that you begin to think about your world as an unfoldment of your consciousness, the closer to your "I AM" you will become. ~ Dr. Derek Lamar
If pursuing who you really are were the goal... hey, that is the goal
August 26 ~ Saturday 2006
What does it mean to be a good person? How does one know when they are doing the right thing. If you do right things are you good, or simply attempting to appear good. Sometimes doing the right thing makes people unhappy. Are you then not good? How does one let God or Truth have its way with them when their human mind does not understand what Truth is? What does it mean to have God speak to you? What does it mean to you when you contemplate these questions and feel that you do not yet have an answer? Do you pursue the work required to find these things out? Or do you simply go back to living life as usual? Now you know what being good is. ~ Dr. Derek Lamar
If pursuing spirituality was always fun more people would do it
August 25 ~ Friday 2006
All wisdom can be stated in two lines: What is done for you - allow it to be done. What you must do yourself - make sure you do it. ~ Khawwas (Essential Sufism)
Turn your face to the sun and the shadows fall behind you. ~
Maori proverb
The light is all there is, revel in it
August 24 ~ Thursday 2006
Clearly I was continuing my journey but with more clarity and conviction. I now had put in my time and paid my dues, to a certain extent, but there would be more to follow. However, I now realized that there was a new perception that might be termed spiritual forensics. A mental science that, like DNA, could decipher the unseen forces that seem to conduct the orchestra that plays the soundtrack for planet earth. It was the discovery of a holographic reality that is sewn together with that same golden thread and whose codes for revealing the principle in back of our existence is the same information we need to know about the entire universe and ourselves. Albert Pike once said: “What we have done for ourselves alone dies with us; what we have done for others and the world remains and is immortal.” But it is also necessary to know that what you do to free your self is a spiritual breakthrough that is connected to all of life and that is eternal also. ~ Dr. Derek Lamar (Mystical Journey... I Don't Want To Be A Baseball Star - NEW)
New Consciousness Reveals Destiny
August 23 ~ Wednesday 2006
If you look inside yourself, you may see that you, also, are longing for spiritual partnerships. Millions of people are beginning to feel this longing. Soon, millions more will feel it, too. The new female and the new male create spiritual partnerships naturally. Sometimes they create them like marriages --- they share a house together and have children. Sometimes they create them as businesses, or schools, or basketball teams. However they do it, they do it as equals for the purpose of spiritual growth. They become aware of what they are feeling. They learn how to make responsible choices. They strive for harmony, cooperation, sharing, and reverence for Life. Then they naturally look for spiritual partners to co-create with. ~ Gary Zukav (Soul Stories, 2000)
New thoughts create new worlds
August 22 ~ Tuesday 2006
The purpose of prayer is not to ask God for something. Its purpose is for a dialogue which will produce the results of interaction that bring one to better know God and thus better know themselves. In doing this one does receive changes which most likely resolve blocked energy that has been preventing the needs from being manifested. ~ Dr. Derek Lamar
I said to Self, "Self?"
August 21 ~ Monday 2006
Monday is often seen as a disappointing day because you have to go to work or do things you would rather not do. Why do you do that? You must first learn to enjoy doing things you would rather not do by using them to further your own growth within yourself. Everyone you meet is another look at yourself. Every problem you face is something new to resolve which has become a pattern and is begging to be released. Every boring moment is screaming at you to open your mind and allow it to entertain you by viewing it and all of its creativity. Every person who annoys you is praying that you find that same annoyance within yourself and let it go freeing not only yourself but those around you. Have a great day and discover a whole week of enlightenment. ~ Dr. Derek Lamar
Oh yeah, I guess that should be on my to do list...
August 20 ~ Sunday 2006
Gurdjieff's ability to read men and to play any part that he deemed necessary was of great service to him in the past. When in 1917 he and his followers escaped from Russia they had to pass through a countryside in a state of chaos. Detachments of the rival Red and White armies were hopelessly intermingled, so that it was impossible to foretell which party was in the ascendant in any given district. The only hope of getting through was to be on good terms with both, and this Gurdjieff achieved. By posing as a geologist who had discovered rich deposits of gold in the Caucasus he obtained a loan of two lorries from the Bolsheviks and by equally clever acting he secured permits to carry arms from both the Bolsheviks and from General Denikin's staff.
All that it is possible to do is to give the impressions which Gurdjieff created in me and these can be summed up in the generalization that for me he represented the outcome of the work. By this I mean that he had achieved greater consciousness, control and unity than those possessed by other men. It is true that the consciousness of another person cannot be measured objectively but the greater a man's consciousness, the more control he is able to exercise over his various functions. Everything Gurdjieff did seemed to originate from within. When he became angry, as he sometimes did, his anger had the appearance of being deliberate and it was laid on one side as soon as it had served its purpose. The dark eyes would then regain their twinkle, the stern olive-coloured face would relax and the conversation would be resumed at the point at which it had been suddenly broken off. He never fumbled in his thoughts or his movements. The latter were always purposeful and made with the strictest economy of effort, like those of a cat, and his immense capacity for work was due to this ability of his never to waste energy. ~ Kenneth Walker (Venture With Ideas, 1951)
It is the Teaching which is important, but the Teacher propels the word
August 19 ~ Saturday 2006
Inevitably a master represents authority. J. Krishnamurti wrote, "Authority in its very nature prevents the full awareness of oneself and therefore ultimately destroys freedom. In freedom alone can there be creativeness. There can be creativeness only through self-knowledge." There is a paradox here. The master imparts inspiration and at the same time thwarts it. He provides ideas and inhibits new ones. The student mostly learns from his or her own observations. Krishnamurti again: "I have to observe and see the fact, the actual, the what is. If I approach it with an idea, with an opinion - such as I must not or I must, which are the responses of memory - then the movement of what is hindered, is blocked; and therefore, there is no learning." ~ Basil Gala, Ph.D. (The GOD Connection, 2002)
Truth is that which is so, that which is not so is not Truth...
August 18 ~ Friday 2006
The sense of earth opening and flowering upwards in the sense of God, and the sense of God rooted and nourished from below in the sense of earth. The transcendent personal God and the universe in evolution, no longer forming two antagonistic poles of attraction, but entering into a hierarchic conjunction to uplift the human mass in a single tide. Such is the notable transformation which the idea of the spiritual evolution of the universe implies in theory and which is beginning to come about in practice in a growing number of minds, free-thinkers as well as believers. The very transformation we are seeking. ~ Pierre Teilhard De Chardin (Building The Earth, 1965)
The coming together is the realization of the Oneness which already is
August 17 ~ Thursday 2006
It is clear that many people in the so-called New Age movement do not understand the differences between being a part of God and being One with God. The difference is similar to owning a $100 of stock in the phone company and owning the phone company outright. You decide. You cannot be part of God. If you added all of humanity together the some total of beings operating as consciousness would still be one. We are not separate to begin with therefore if you add us together it will still equal the one that we are. There is ONE MIND. Simply because you think you are separate from others does not make it so. ~ Dr. Derek Lamar
Speak to yourself within your mind and discover what it is like to be God
August 16 ~ Wednesday 2006
Have you ever observed what is hurt when you are insulted? It is certainly not your body. Nor your intellect; your mental capacities remain intact. Your knowledge, sense of humor, charm, talents, and professional capabilities are untouched. What then suffers from the words or implications of another? It is your self-image. But this self-image would not be vulnerable if it were not, at its very core, false. ~ John McAfee (The Fabric of Self: Meditations on Vanity and Love, 2001)
Discover your real self and never be hurt again
August 15 ~ Tuesday 2006
How sweet is the taste of change when the mind is renewed and it feels as if it has always been that way and the memories of how it was seem like dreams which are way far off and echo only faintly on the keys of a song which is no longer performed. ~ Dr. Derek Lamar
Change is something we are more willing to envy than to work for
August 14 ~ Monday 2006
Ponder the following, remembering that Wealth is not a "thing" to be earned, but It is That-Which-I-Be; It is Being-in-Action, inclusive of all things. The I-that-I-Am never can be more, and never can have less because I-Am-Undimensional-Wealth, Unlimited-Awareness, Unbounded-Conscious-Intelligence here and now. Behold Myself-as-I-Am is the sole key to Infinite Supply, for Awareness is Substance Itself. ~ Alfred Aiken (Supply, 1957)
Wealth has less to do with work than it does in valuing oneself
August 13 ~ Sunday 2006
"What is that to thee?" Answer. "What is that to thee?" "Follow thou ME" and you will immediately take the inner route to the "It is consummated" state of consciousness. What seemed to be a problem has become nothing but an appearance and is thereby a passing, changing thing of human thought and emotion. ~ Walter C. Lanyon (Without The Smell of Fire, revised by Lanyon before his death in 1967)
Be not moved by appearances but by Eternal Truth
August 12 ~ Saturday 2006
The seemingly independent action of man is his erroneous belief that thought can and does do something. All the wisdom derived from thinking is foolishness in the eyes of God. Nothing except belief is changed by thought. All the thought in the world cannot act upon a thing and change it or its nature. Hence all the knowing and thinking in the world at one time did not make the earth flat, even though the majority of people accepted the belief. However, one glimmer of light and the entire working basis of their lives was swept away. In reality nothing was changed. "Who by taking thought can add one cubit to his stature?" If not this, then why try other and more difficult things? Awake, thou that sleepest, and Christ (consciousness) shall give thee light. ~ Walter C. Lanyon (Without The Smell of Fire, revised by Lanyon before his death in 1967)
The thought of man is a dream
August 11 ~ Friday 2006
Your body is the body of God --- all living manifestation is the body of God --- the place where the invisible comes through into expression. Without a body there would be no God visible. Without an automobile the principle of locomotion in that respect would be invisible --- nothing --- yet would it be there always. Your body is the body of God. Do you hear? Does that mean anything to you? Contemplate this --- "be still and know that I AM God" and see if anything filters through into your relative place of thought. Gradually you will understand not only why you are sick, but also why it is impossible that you ever should be sick. You will again approximate the Consciousness of being "created in the image and likeness of God" --- and see how this slight adjustment through "Believe" causes you to be "every whit whole." ~ Walter C. Lanyon (Without The Smell of Fire, revised by Lanyon before his death in 1967)
The mind of God is the body of infinity
August 10 ~ Thursday 2006
You can detach from your body, observe it going through the motions of tedium, and refuse to identify with it. You are then in the position of watching yourself without identifying with the body that is laboring away. This process of observation immediately takes the judgment out of the activity and puts you in a state of bliss. ~ Dr. Wayne W. Dyer (Your Sacred Self, 1995)
Being in the world and not of it
August 9 ~ Wednesday 2006
Even now, with the limited knowledge at our command, we can control circumstances to the point of making the world without an expression of our own world within, where the real thoughts, the real power, resides. Through this world within you can find the solution of every problem, the cause for every effect. Discover it --- and all power, all possession is within your control. ~ Robert Collier (The Book of Life, Vol. 2, 1925)
Yours is the world and everything that's in it
August 8 ~ Tuesday 2006
People always know what it is that they want to know even if they don't know that they do. When you internally represent a "Teaching" which deals with Truth in an esoteric manner people will invariably ask you about it or bring it up in some manner or find out what it is you do or are into or what you write or study if they are prepared to take the next step. Others, on the other hand, will walk about any introduction of that information like they are avoiding a snake on the path through a forest. Interesting. ~ Dr. Derek Lamar
Striking a match in a dark room
August 7 ~ Monday 2006
Practice observing the people that you meet, the things that you see, and the places where you go. Ask yourself questions about the things that you have seen and done during the day. Give yourself an extensive test. Try to sit in your living room and see every item in the kitchen and the color of each item. Ask yourself questions about the dashboard of your automobile and the location of the various gauges on it. Question yourself regarding the design and pattern in clothes that others have worn or the things in your own closet. This teaches you to observe more carefully. ~ O. W. "Bill" Hayes (Your Memory: Speedway To Success in Earning, Learning and Living.
Reflection... the viewing of oneself
August 6 ~ Sunday 2006
A few persons get a glimpse of the power of the Supraconscious and the "collective unconscious" from time to time, through what we commonly call intuition, telepathy, clairvoyance, clairaudience or some such other extrasensory perception which is the commonplace of the Supraconscious and the "to-be-marveled-at phenomenon" of the conscious. ~Walter M. Germain (The Magic Power of Your Mind, 1956)
Which mind should I use, or is there only One Mind?
August 5 ~ Saturday 2006
Conscious evolution calls upon humanistic, transpersonal, and spiritual psychologies to move us from the early phase of personal growth and self-empowerment to the later stages of self-realization and self-transcendence as cocreators. Evolutionary psychology is needed to help us nurture within ourselves our higher qualities, to become mature, sovereign, cocreative humans attuning to the patterns of creation. ~ Barbara Marx Hubbard (Conscious Evolution, 1998)
"Who am I?" God says: "Shut up! I asked you that!"
August 4 ~ Friday 2006
Is the Quantum Leap so hard to understand? Can we never perceive that one must actually "go out on a limb" without their being a tree to climb down from? Must there always be bread crumbs to help us go back even though we were told "You can never go home again"? Why do we refuse to believe in the false mask we wear when if we did we would instantly come face to face with the God which is our True Self? ~ Dr. Derek Lamar
Who are you? Have we met before?
August 3 ~ Thursday 2006
Waking up is the discovery of oneself. Ultimately this must continue to encompass the realization of the One Self. This is the same thing as discovering God and the fullness thereof. Another way of putting this is the entering into the Kingdom of God. In the Bible the Kingdom of Heaven and the Kingdom of God are the same thing. Tradition caused Matthew, a Jewish scribe and originator of a previous Gospel of Matthew, to avoid using God's name. The custom was that God's name was so holy that it was unspeakable. So heaven is used in place of God but the meaning is the same in either case. ~ Dr. Derek Lamar (Gurdjieff, Fourth Way and Esoteric Teaching)
Wake up from thy dream and discover a vision of reality
August 2 ~ Wednesday 2006
I am myself. I am an independent individual operating in my own orbit, vibrating in my own orbit, vibrating from my own soul Center, demonstrating my own Divinity. I am up-standing in my Divinity. I claim all that is mine. Nothing can keep me from manifesting the God-Self that I am. I let the God-Self that I am come forth in all its fullness. No power in earth, in heaven, or in hell can keep me from being that which I was created to be. I am what I was created to be. For in reality there is nothing else for me to have or to express. Anything less than the Truth of my Being expressed is a subterfuge. I develop my own words and say them in my own way. I listen to this God-Self within for my leadings and I follow the promptings of my own soul. The Christ within is my ideal, and I bring that ideal into form. I am myself. ~ Frances Wade Gott (Statement of Being, 1923)
For that which I AM nothing against it shall prevail
August 1 ~ Tuesday 2006
Consciousness cannot be confined to egocentric self-concepts. Existential identity is practical in terms of coping with the ordinary tasks of living in the world, just as Newtonian physics is practical for building bridges. However, exclusive identification with the existential self as an independent entity makes no sense in view of states of consciousness that transcend ordinary space/time limitations and operate in a reality that is more aptly described in the language of subatomic physics. ~ Frances Vaughan, The Inward Arc (The Holotropic Mind by Stanislav Grof, M.D.)
Science which is discovered with the mind, should be understood as the discovery of mind and not of matter
