Q.M.I. Presents Derek Lamar's Quote of the Day
October 2006

October 31 ~ Tuesday 2006
If you would demonstrate, attain, manifest, greater good in your mind, body, and affairs, take time to speak aloud the word of Truth. Speak the word of wisdom, wholeness, harmony. Speak it aloud in the privacy of your own room or home until the air vibrates with the divine ideas contained within it! If it is greater wisdom and understanding you desire, declare aloud, in a firm but gentle and confident manner: "Let there be light. Let the clear light of God's day shine through my mind!" If you are in need of healing, decree: "Every cell of my body is indelibly stamped with a clear picture of radiant life. It now manifests that life!" If you seem to lack any good thing, affirm, "God is my unfailing, enduring, exhaustless supply." ~ Mary L. Kupferle (God Never Fails, 1958 Unity)
There is a knowing in speaking the word which connects one to the Higher Source
October 30 ~ Monday 2006
It often seems that life is spiraling out of control but is that not always the case just before things begin to fall together? We are moving toward sanity just as precisely as we appear to be moving into insanity. The reason for either is interconnected. The introduction of a spirit of "sanity" can cause insanity among human beings who are not prepared for the changes necessary within consciousness to adapt to such a shift in thinking. This is why it is necessary that people begin to take the path of self discovery seriously and educate themselves not only in consciousness but in ways that they can make changes in consciousness. We are on the threshold of a dream. ~ Dr. Derek Lamar
There is a new world bubbling under the surface and you are the masters of tomorrow
October 29 ~ Sunday 2006
There is a time to to make a spiritual end-run beyond the appearances of one's base desires and focus on the goal of one's destiny. Those who achieve great things almost always leave out a large portion of the frivolous youthful escapades and choose to pursue what is driving them toward greatness. Greatness is not what supports one's ego but rather what places humanity more firmly into its spiritual identity. ~ Dr. Derek Lamar
There is nothing one can do for greatness which does not rub off on one's own soul
October 28 ~ Saturday 2006
There are no obstacles in Divine Mind, therefore, there is nothing to obstruct my good. All obstacles now vanish from my pathway. Doors fly open, gates are lifted and I enter the Kingdom of fulfillment, under grace. ~ Florence Scovel Shinn (The Wisdom of Florence Scovel Shinn, 1989
There is nothing real which stands between you and your desires
October 27 ~ Friday 2006
Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle. ~ Man...is a tame or civilized animal; never the less, he requires proper instruction and a fortunate nature, and then of all animals he becomes the most divine and most civilized; but if he be insufficiently or ill- educated he is the most savage of earthly creatures. ~ Never discourage anyone... who continually makes progress, no matter how slow. ~ Astronomy compels the soul to look upwards and leads us from this world to another. ~ Everything that deceives may be said to enchant. ~ The soul of man is immortal and imperishable. ~ above quotes, Plato

We can easily forgive a child who is afraid of the dark; the real tragedy of life is when men are afraid of the light. - Plato [427 B.C. - 345 B.C.] (from The Cave)
To be afraid of the light is to be in darkness
October 25 ~ Wednesday 2006
"There are two things you must do. Stay alive. And keep moving. If you can do just these two things, you will come to another oasis." ~ M. R. Ritley
Around each corner you are liable to bump into God
October 24 ~ Tuesday 2006
What is wisdom? Doing the right thing in the right moment. (What a concept.) I wonder how many of us are truly wise? How many of us can say or do the right thing in the right moment? When we do, it can change the world. ~ Geri Larkin (Stumbling Toward Enlightenment, 1997)
Doing the right thing is to follow a voice within your consciousness which you know to be your I AM Self
October 23 ~ Monday 2006
In the film, American Beauty, the character Lester Burnham (Kevin Spacey): [narrating] "I had always heard your entire life flashes in front of your eyes the second before you die. First of all, that one second isn't a second at all, it stretches on forever, like an ocean of time... For me, it was lying on my back at Boy Scout camp, watching falling stars... And yellow leaves, from the maple trees, that lined my street... Or my grandmother's hands, and the way her skin seemed like paper... And the first time I saw my cousin Tony's brand new Firebird... And Janie... And Janie... And... Carolyn. I guess I could be pretty pissed off about what happened to me... but it's hard to stay mad, when there's so much beauty in the world. Sometimes I feel like I'm seeing it all at once, and it's too much, my heart fills up like a balloon that's about to burst... And then I remember to relax, and stop trying to hold on to it, and then it flows through me like rain and I can't feel anything but gratitude for every single moment of my stupid little life... You have no idea what I'm talking about, I'm sure. But don't worry... you will someday. ”
When one sees this in their life, they have discovered Destiny
October 22 ~ Sunday 2006
In the film, American Beauty, the character Ricky, describes an event that he filmed. There is this empty white plastic grocery bag being tossed to and fro by the wind in a haphazard seemingly random manner as it rises upward is pulled this way and that often shooting across the screen while the leaves on the ground move in a collective group as they ebb and flow in the ocean like current exhibiting an alien force: He says: “It was one of those days when its a minute away from snowing. And there’s this electricity in the air, you can almost hear it. And this bag was just…dancing with me. Like a little kid begging me to play with it. That’s the day I realized that there was this entire life behind things, and this incredible benevolent force that wanted me to know that there was no reason for me to be afraid. Ever.”
When one sees this in their life, they have discovered Intention
October 21 ~ Saturday 2006
Although I don't know what I expected a spiritual teacher to be like, I do know that Sunim would not have been my guess. I hear the same thing from other stumblers --- that the teachers they happen upon are never quite what they expected. I think we all want a combination of Santa Claus and Mother Mary, and instead we get an army drill sergeant, sometimes in drag. ~ Geri Larkin (Stumbling Toward Enlightenment, 1997, Celestial Arts)
When the student is ready... they are still never ready...
October 20 ~ Friday 2006
You can forgive anything. And you need to. Not forget --- forgive. Forgiveness creates the space in your heart that can then be filled with the divine. ~ Geri Larkin (Stumbling Toward Enlightenment, 1997, Celestial Arts)
Give for a new awareness and release the divine blessing of love
October 19 ~ Thursday 2006
If we ask Plato what the magic of both these men (Zamolxis & Zoroaster) was, he will reply, in his Alcibiades, that the magic of Zoroaster was none other than the science of the Divine in which the kings of the Persians instructed their songs, to the end that they might be taught to rule their own commonwealth by the example of the commonwealth of the world. ~ The Renaissance of Philosophy of Man (Pico on the Dignity of Man) edited by Cassirer, Kristeller and Randall.
Magic is the misunderstanding of the pure Truth revealed before you
October 18 ~ Wednesday 2006
There is in fact no reason why Esther's identity as a Jew would have been a problem. It would not have been, at the royal Persian court, which had been accustomed to having Jews around for several generations. The Persians were a cosmopolitan people who were used to seeing people of different religions necessary for the purpose of building tension in the story; it is a surprise that will be sprung later. ~ M.R. Ritley (God Of Our Mothers, 2006)
Even in facts are the revealing of Truth
October 17 ~ Tuesday 2006
How used the ancients to honor the Way? Didn't they say that the seeker may find it, and that sinners who find are forgiven? So did they lift up the Way and its Virtue above everything else in the world. ~ Lao Tzu (The Way of Life, translated by R. B. Blakney, 1955)
Forgiveness is the Love which is at the source of all things
October 16 ~ Monday 2006
If while this recurring change and death of the physical self is going on we do not seek to realize our great Atman, we fail to fulfill the purpose of life. We cannot be happy unless we realize our immortal Self, unless we free ourselves from the cycle of death and birth, thus becoming devoid of all our imperfections. ~ Swami Rama (Life Here and Hereafter, 1976)
Our immortal Self seeks discovery and enjoys knowing itself always
October 15 ~ Sunday 2006
We are accustomed in religious literature to a certain large solemnity of utterance. God is sublime; therefore the words we use about God should also be sublime. So runs the unexpressed argument in favor of the grand style. In practice, however, it happens not infrequently that sublimity of utterance is carried to self-satisfying lengths. ~ Aldous Huxley (Huxley and God Essays: Notes on Zen, 1992)
Discover the peace that is the Self within the Word
October 14 ~ Saturday 2006
Aladdin and His Wonderful Lamp is the outpicturing of the Word. Aladdin rubbed the lamp and all his desires came to pass. Your word is your lamp. Words and thoughts are a form of radio activity and do not return void. A scientist has said that words are clothed in light. You are continually the fruits of your words. ~ Florence Scovel Shinn (The Wisdom of Florence Scovel Shinn, 1989)
Speak the Word because You are the Word
October 13 ~ Friday 2006

Peace is knowing the harmony of the Oneness of Being ~ D.L.
October 12 ~ Thursday 2006

To be yourself is to be God in Mind's infinite variety
October 10 ~ Tuesday 2006
In some metaphysical teachings you get to thinking that everything is error and illusion and when you are finished seeing through the maya of it all you will be left alone with nothing to interact with except memories you have already deleted. But the Truth is that your interpretation of reality is all that is changed and the new view you will discover will be one which expresses the infinite variety of the Truth that you are and have always been. ~ Dr. Derek Lamar
Life is the unfoldment of harmony, perfection and completeness
October 9 ~ Monday 2006
Not a good day for me. I was forced to discover my ability at jumping to conclusions and then have to face lifelong fears of personal failure all in one breath of disappointment. My final realization brought all of it out of the illusion that it was and when I realized that I had created a negative situation out of thin air, I was left with only myself to blame. Where everything was resolved I could breath again knowing that it had brought me to a Higher understanding of myself and of true reality. ~ Dr. Derek Lamar
Life unfolds what we believe giving us the opportunity to allow the unfoldment of Truth
October 8 ~ Sunday 2006
The meaning of life and death reveals the truth about reality. The meaning to life is life itself and the meaning to death revolves around how much life means to us. Even in studying the symbology of death we discover it expresses the doorway to the next life. Nowhere does death really have meaning as existence. Death is the cessation of existence which is not possible. Nothingness does not exist because if nothingness existed, it would mean that it was something.
Life is the ongoing revelation of Infinity
October 7 ~ Saturday 2006
Forgiveness is the act of erasing an emotional debt. As you move from compassion to forgiveness, your heart is already open, and you engage in a conscious and deliberate release of resentment. Perceiving past actions as mistakes implies guilt and blame, and it is not possible to learn anything meaningful while you are engaged in blaming. ~ Cherie Carter-Scott, Ph.D. (If Life Is a Game, These Are The Rules, 1998)
Forgiveness is to give up past beliefs for a new awareness

Time without inner change is limbo
October 5 ~ Thursday 2006
Search much and do not linger. Set forth knowing that what you discover will become information that leads you to the door of yourself. Knowledge for the sake of knowledge is pointless but if it aids in self realization then you have achieved much. Always pursue that path. ~ Dr. Derek Lamar
A day is a journey into forever
October 4 ~ Wednesday 2006
There is no clock which is the Absolute of time. We all march to a different beat which is marking off the seconds of what will become lost hours. But within these lost hours are the opportunities to discover the infinity of timeless being. Go there. ~ Dr. Derek Lamar
Being is perfect harmony waiting to be known and experienced

To reach out to others is satisfying but it can never take the place of one's own work. This is the greatest pitfall for teachers. They get caught up in helping others and their ego convinces them that this is more important than anything else. ~ Dr. Derek Lamar
God within seeks only to know the Self
October 2 ~ Monday 2006
It does get easier to make changes in time. But there is always a threshold which must be crossed. That threshold can sometimes seem like a mountain or simply a hill to cross over. The journey is an echo of what has gone before
