Q.M.I. Presents Derek Lamar's
September Quote of the Day 2007

September 30 ~ Sunday 2007
The facts of the world's situations matter very little in today's political climate. People believe what they choose to believe based on what they want to believe and what they need to believe. It makes it even more imperative to seek a spiritual understanding of "Absolute Truth" which unlocks the door to "Mind" itself and sets us free from division. ~ Dr. Derek Lamar
And Truth is marching on... glory, glory Hal and Beulah
September 29 ~ Saturday 2007

There is not one simple answer which when one is whispered it they suddenly "know" and are illumined. It is a process. Like the saying that "life is not a destination, it is a journey", so too is the sojourn one takes to discover their self. If one desires to know these secrets, they will desire what it takes to get there. This does not mean their will not be frustration and anxiety and impatience, but one will endure that to learn all along the way. ~ Dr. Derek Lamar (founder and director of Q.M.I.)
Always a choice in these matters... choose to know
September 28 ~ Friday 2007

Practice observing the people that you meet, the things that you see, and the places where you go. Ask yourself questions about the things that you have seen and done during the day. Give yourself an extensive test. Try to sit in your living room and see every item in the kitchen and the color of each item. Ask yourself questions about the dashboard of your automobile and the location of the various gauges on it. Question yourself regarding the design and pattern in clothes that others have worn or the things in your own closet. This teaches you to observe more carefully. ~ O.W. "Bill" Hayes (Your Memory: Speedway To Success In Earning, Learning and Living, 1958) my Mind there are many levels... take a tour
September 27 ~ Thursday 2007

We can of course throw ourselves, our God-given faculties and powers, into personal efforts, and accomplish given and desired results. But unless we are truly working in perfect tune with the Infinite and doing that which is our present best and that which best meets the needs of our own soul we shall not be wholly satisfied even though we gain that which we set out to attain. ~ Myrtle Fillmore (Letters of Myrtle Fillmore, 1936)
...and to do "Work" for the children yet unborn
September 26 ~ Wednesday 2007

This is one more instance in which the Ozzie and Harriet family fails to emerge from the pages of Scripture. But Scripture was never intended to extol the Ozzie and Harriet family. The stories we hear are real stories, about real --- and fallible --- people. They're meant to tell us something enormously important about God. Over and over again God chooses the younger over the older, the weak over the strong. God chooses flawed people. God turns things upside down. ~ M. R. Ritley (God of Our Mothers: Face to Face with Powerful Women of the Old Testament, 2006
Mind unfolds within principle for the purpose of revelation... always seeking Truth
September 25 ~ Tuesday 2007

If the body is but the vehicle for the soul or self of us and is, as we have seen an extension of the real you or me, then there is reasonableness to the concept. If the soul of man transcends the body, if the self of you and me existed before this life experience and exists beyond it, then it is not difficult to conceive of a pattern or pathway that could incorporate the idea of reincarnation. ~ Robert P. Sikking (A Matter of Life & Death, 1978)
If life be Eternal, we are forever passing through one door and out another

As the writer Alice A. Bailey has said: "Intuition is the ability to arrive at knowledge through the activity of some innate sense, apart from the reasoning or logical process. It comes into activity when the resources of the lower mind have been used, explored and exhausted. Then, and only then, the true intuition begins to function. It is the sense of synthesis, the ability to think in wholes and to touch the world of causes." ~ John K. Williams (The Wisdom of Your Subconscious Mind, 1964)
One must exhaust all erroneous feelings if they are to truly let go of error
September 23 ~ Sunday 2007

Because a created Universe exists, that which produced it must have been operative prior to and during its appearance. That same force must be operative in order that creation be sustained. If this were not true, creation would vanish. I am not a product of the world but of the same operative principle that produced the world. Therefore that force which sustains the Universe, sustains me. I am sustained, supported, and supplied by a self-operative process that sustains and supports the entire Universal system. God, who is the sum total of all the visible and invisible Universe (I am that I am and beside me there is no other) is both the Creator and the Created. I am, then, part of God and actually live, move, and have my being in Him. My Creator and Sustainer is in me, through me, and around me. He is the Life of my life, the Mind of my mind, and the Substance of my flesh. He is my immediate supply and in Him I find the complete support of my entire being. My supply is at hand. It fills me, surrounds me and is poured out upon me from everywhere. Supply flows to me wherever I am and in whatever I do. My supply is constant and exhaustless and I am richly endowed with all things in Heaven and earth. I receive my invisible and visible supply constantly and I am increasingly rich within and without. ~ E. V. Ingraham (Wells of Abundance, 1938)
Abundance expresses the Infinity that God is, and what God is, I AM

Because no one wants to be told what to do we hate discipline. And yet it is only through discipline that we might be set free. Free, meaning existence without discipline? No, free meaning controlled only by the Self, our True Identity. ~ Dr. Derek Lamar
No one is ever told what to do by someone else, there is only the "I"
September 21 ~ Friday 2007

The utterly basic foundation of impersonal love which comes from a trust in something larger than ourselves --- which need not be called God --- definitely supports a sense of who we are and how we can be with each other. "A spiritual life of some kind is absolutely necessary for psychological health", writes Thomas Moore in Care of the Soul. "At the same time", he warns, "excessive or ungrounded spirituality can also be dangerous, leading to all kinds of compulsive and even violent behaviour." ~ Stephanie Dowrick (Forgiveness & Other Acts of Love, 1997)
Do you think?

He went on to talk about Heisenberg's uncertainty principle: In the late 1800's, Werner Heisenberg, a German scientist, had developed a mathematical model that showed that we could only know either the position or the momentum of an electron, but never both, because to know one factor destroyed both our capability to know the other factor and its existence. Although it described subatomic phenomena, it applied equally well to so-called real-world events. For instance, if we know how fast a train is moving, we cannot say with certainty where it is, because it is, in fact, moving. In order to determine the precise position of the train, we must destroy its momentum, its forward speed. At the moment we fix its position, its speed can no longer be known with certainty. As soon as we try to determine its speed again, our certain knowledge of its position evaporates. ~ Stephen Lewis and Evan Slawson (Sanctuary: The Path To Consciousness,1998)
And as to that I am certain, I think... therefore... I am

I stand and turn and am wrapped in the arms of the ABSOLUTE. And as I turn, I stand in space above the earth and above the heavens and in the stars. There is a great silence, only silence, only my own life force is rushing in my ears and my being is dilating out into the universe further and further . Before the I Am I, I Am... I am the silence, the stars, the space and time, the infinitude of GOD. And as I pass through the center of my soul the fires gather within my being rising higher and higher, further and deeper into space, taking me beyond all time, beyond all silence, beyond all infinitude. I burst through the top of GOD'S head and life stands still. And in my arms is my child and for the first time I see the face of GOD... and GOD Whispers I will be with thee forever and ever for today thee has brought forth in LOVE. ~ Suzanne Deakins, H.W., M., Ph.D (When God Whispers)

I ran out of the cathedral. The music was just too loud. I couldn't think. My heart was breaking and my mind was ready to explode. It was that person across the aisle who looked at me and smiled. They didn't know why I went to confession today. I felt so dirty when I looked in their eyes... so clean, so soft, so pure. Suddenly as I remembered their eyes I could see them again and I was unable to turn away for just that one moment. I knew it was love that they felt... not for me particularly... well, yes for me because they actually saw in me what I saw in them... they had seen a light and heard the whisper of God. ~ Derek Lamar, Msc. D., Ph.D. (When God Whispers)
That still small voice is yelling but we are so, so busy

Just as the colors in this carpet are brought out by light but light is not the color, so is the world caused by you but you are not the world. That which creates and sustains the world, you may call it God or providence, but ultimately you are the proof that God exists, not the other way round. For before any question about God can be put, you musty be there to put it. ~ Nisargadatta Maharaj (I Am That)
I am a result of myself and back again
September 17 ~ Monday 2007

Though Hegel meant the "state" to be the politically organized ethical life of the community rather than any bureaucratic power, it is easy to see how his communitarian bias might be used to justify coercion. Other communitarian thinkers have substituted "church" or "Reason" or "social blueprint" for the "state," but all agree there is some best truth or most fulfilling way to live toward which we all should aspire if we are to realize ourselves. To a great many of us, this kind of thinking raises very obvious danger signals. As Isaiah Berlin says, this "freedom" to do what others think best is "no better than a specious disguise for brutal tyranny": .. to manipulate men, to propel them towards goals which you --- the social reformer --- see, but they may not, is to deny their human essence, to treat them as objects without wills of their own, and therefore to degrade them. ~ Danah Zohar and Ian Marshall (The Quantum Society, 1994)
Freedom is spiritual, not political
September 16 ~ Sunday 2007

Life is simple. If you give your house away to a person who seems nice and says things you agree with and he promises you all sorts of benefits to your house if you simply sign it over to him, what do you do when he changes his mind and suddenly decides to do things you don't want? You have already given him your house. There is nothing you can do. This is why we believe in Democracy. This is why we have a constitution. This is why we should think twice before giving our country away through questionable laws to be judged by people we do not know, people we did not elect. Democracy is our way of retaining personal choice. This is a spiritual realization. If we give up our personal choice to other human beings, we become slaves. That is a way of losing our spirituality and returning to the bottom rung of reality. ~ Dr. Derek Lamar, Msc. D., Ph. D.
Think straight, walk tall, learn to see, stay free
September 15 ~ Saturday 2007

Life is a process of taking control and letting go and knowing when to do either. Too many people aggressively insist on doing it their own way and their ego drags them into one self-destructive incident after another and too often never let go but come up with another plan of action which will also work against them. Others will be pulled this way and that and settle for whatever comes their way and pretend that this passive approach is spiritual when in reality they are simply a cork being pulled down the rapids through the white water of life. One must learn to utilize both approaches but also involve themselves in soul searching and making the necessary changes in consciousness which will direct them where to go and take them where they need to be to properly express and fulfill themselves appropriately. ~ Dr. Derek Lamar
Good luck and have fun
September 14 ~ Friday 2007

"Know thyself"... what does this mean? It means you must do years of work to pay attention, study, self-observe and dedicate yourself to a life which will bring fulfillment to the quest you have chosen. It does not mean you must give up life, but it does mean that your focus on change must be greater than your desire to stay the same. ~ Dr. Derek Lamar
Ch... Ch... Ch... Changes... look out you rock and rollers
September 13 ~ Thursday 2007

The connections we make in life are always in the realm of "meaning" but we do not always know what that meaning is. We must assume that it is "consciousness" and that all that we perceive is our consciousness and being that reality is the principle of "out and back" based on the Truth of Oneness, then "you get back what you put out" and thus... all connections are linked in one's state of being as a reflection of their consciousness just as those who are connected to you are experiencing an outpicturing of their own consciousness. Blessings on all those you meet and may you be a blessing to them as they should be to you. ~ Dr. Derek Lamar
To walk toward the Light is to receive yourself... you are out and back
September 12 ~ Wednesday 2007

This is not the end of the world which is upon us, but rather it is the beginning. This does not mean it will not be a bumpy night but when the dust clears and the light emerges we will all realize reality from the same point of view. This will not be a doctrine of mediocrity but an understanding of the Infinity of the "I AM" which is the ongoing Self which always emerges in the name of "God" whenever there is the spark of illumination that replaces the shadows of not knowing. ~ Dr. Derek Lamar
To walk toward the Light is to leave the darkness behind as you discover your Self

Our inheritance has passed to aliens, our homes to barbarians. ~ Lamentations 5:2
I am a stranger in a strange land. ~ Exodus 18:3
To be an alien is to not know who you are

To be or not to be, that is the question. ~ Wm Shakespeare
Always ask the right question. Begin with "Who am I?"
September 9 ~ Sunday 2007

Love is that divine thing that connects all the universe into one whole, as a magnificent operating reality of all that there is. It is an unconditional force that flows from the heart as a connecting point to God. One of the key lessons needed to connect with, and evolve into, higher states of consciousness is the lesson of love, as learned through the heart, and the heart chakra. Love, being the binding force for you to become one with your higher consciousness. This transpires through the process of wholeness, which is one with the process of love, making you one with all that there is, which is God. ~ Dr. James Thomas (I AM that I AM, 1984) founder of the Thomas Institute of Metaphysics in Los Angeles and International Association of Metaphysics (IAM) in Lake Helen, Florida. Thought transmission is little different from radio transmission. The Supraconscious acts in much the same manner as a radio transmitter. In order to transmit messages --- or "broadcast" --- the modulation frequency of radio must be increased to the pitch of sound waves in the ether. And in order to have these message audible to the human ear at the receiving end, they must be reduced again to a lower frequency. What happens in mental thought transmission is identical. The rate of thought vibration is increased to be transmittable. ~ Walter M. Germain (The Magic Power of Your Mind, 1956)
Thoughts have wings! ~ The Rosicrucians

If I handed you a map which could lead you to a place where you would find a wooden box that was hidden behind a rock about fifty feet off the side of the road in a wooded area less than ten miles away and in this wooden box was a gold ring, a cloth bag of precious and semi-precious stones and some old currency from the Civil War you would go there right away and take a chance on perhaps discovering something of value. But if I told you I had information which could change your life, reveal secrets hidden for millennia, teach you how to heal yourself or discover who you really are or send you on a journey of self-discovery which would bring you joy and satisfaction kings and queens couldn't pay for... and I wouldn't even ask you to travel someplace by yourself but would simply say: "Follow me," most would turn and walk away. Isn't life strange? ~ Derek Lamar
Someone once came to me and said they were tempted to know God... huh?
September 6 ~ Thursday 2007

I remember when, I remember, I remember when I lost my mind
There was something so pleasant about that place.
Even your emotions have an echo
In so much space
And when you're out there
Without care,
Yeah, I was out of touch
But it wasn't because I didn't know enough
I just knew too much
Does that make me crazy?
Does that make me crazy?
Does that make me crazy?
Probably [Possibly (radio version)]
And I hope that you are having the time of your life
But think twice, that's my only advice
Come on now, who do you, who do you, who do you, who do you think you are,
Ha ha ha bless your soul
You really think you're in control
Well, I think you're crazy
I think you're crazy
I think you're crazy
Just like me
My heroes had the heart to lose their lives out on a limb
And all I remember is thinking, I wanna be like them
Ever since I was little, ever since I was little it looked like fun
And it's no coincidence I've come
And I can die when I'm done
But Maybe I'm crazy
Maybe you're crazy
Maybe we're crazy
Uh, uh
Gnarls Barkley ("Crazy", song lyrics 2006)
We are all crazy working our way to discovering the sanity within

The truth of the matter is that we are already witnessing the inevitable breakdown of the ancient traditional divisions between the East and the West. And this process is a good sign! It is a sign that Man, incarnated as the men and women of the generations now living and about to be born, is moving out of the ancient traditional mode of self-division and of cultural exclusivism. ~ Da Free John (Scientific Proof of the Existence of God Will Soon Be Announced by the White House, 1980)
When two see One rather than one seeing two...

Philosophers, being able to comprehend the internal electrical Light that shines within them, find their heart's love flowing energetically toward the Light that relieves them of all causes of excitation, cools down their system to a normal state, and, invigorating their vital powers, makes them perfectly healthy, both in body and in mind. They then accept this Light as their Divinity or Savior. ~ Swami Sri Yukteswar (The Holy Science, 1949)
When one sees the Light, they are looking deep into their own Soul
September 3 ~ Monday 2007
Since everything is "MIND", then everything is "CONSCIOUSNESS". This being the case, all labor is within consciousness. How you feel about it, think about it, act about it will have tremendous affect upon your life, your creativity and what the outcome of your projection of your thoughts regarding how you "employ" yourself. Expression is the key here. Labor is the "work" you engage in as you "employ yourself". ~ Dr. Derek Lamar
As a man thinketh, so does he employ himself
September 2 ~ Sunday 2007
Problems do not continue to exist in adults merely because of childhood traumas. They continue to exist because they are actively sustained in the present. And no part of psychotherapy is more important than making the client aware of the actions by which he keeps his problems alive and flourishing. ~ Nathaniel Branden (The Disowned Self, 1972)
Reality is always in the NOW... so is illusion
September 1 ~ Saturday 2007
Thus the question of the existence of God can be neither asked nor answered. If asked, it is a question about that which by its very nature is above existence, and therefore the answer --- whether negative or affirmative --- implicitly denies the nature of God. It is as atheistic to affirm the existence of God as it is to deny it. God is being-itself, not a being. ~ Paul Tillich
Life is existence and existence is being... Cogito Ergo Sum
