- Q.M.I. Presents Derek Lamar's
- June Quote of the Day 2008
- June 30 ~ Monday 2008
It is known that there are an infinte number of worlds, simply because there is an infinite amount of space for them to be in. However, not every one of them is inhabited. Any finite number divided by infinity is as near nothing as makes no odds, so the average population of all the planets in the Universe can be said to be zero. From this it follows that the population of the whole Universe is also zero, and that any people you may meet from time to time are merely products of a deranged imagination. ~ Douglas Adams (British comic Writer, 1952-2001)
There is a fifth dimension, beyond that which is known to man. It is a dimension as vast as space and as timeless as infinity. It is the middle ground between light and shadow, between science and superstition. ~ Rod Sterling (American Producer, Host and Writer, for The Twilight Zone, 1924-1975)
The self-confidence of the warrior is not the self-confidence of the average man. The average man seeks certainty in the eyes of the onlooker and calls that self-confidence. The warrior seeks impeccability in his own eyes and calls that humbleness. The average man is hooked to his fellow men, while the warrior is hooked only to infinity. ~ Carlos Castaneda (Peruvian born American best-selling Author and Writer, 1925-1998)
Infinity is permanently filled with itself ~ D.L.
June 29 ~ Sunday 2008
You must take notice of your life as to where it appears to be going and look back where you came from if you are to have the awareness necessary to make personal changes that will truly benefit your life. Living in the "now" without regard to the past and the future is foolish because the spiritual "NOW" includes both the past and the future. ~ Dr. Derek Lamar
There's a fog upon L.A. And my friends have lost their way. ~ G.H.
June 28 ~ Saturday 2008
As a child I was taught self-hatred and felt very lost, unloved, and abandoned. With my limited "religious" experiences, I concluded that God made people wear hair shirts and then threw them to the lions, so I certainly did not want to become a Christian. When I learned many years later that I was not a bad person or a "sinner," my whole outlook on life changed. I learned that I was lovable and could even love myself. It was then that I began to develop a trusting relationship with the Universe. I discovered that God was not an angry old man sitting on a cloud taking note of all my sins, but rather a Universal Force and Power that had only good in store for me. All I had to do was learn to cooperate with the Laws of Life. Learning the Laws of Life, learning how they work, and using them has changed me and my life to such a wonderful degree that I hardly remember my difficult childhood. ~ Louise Hay
Principles of the Universe operate within us and can reveal a World of good things
June 27 ~ Friday 2008
When I pray, I give thanks for all the blessings I've received in life, because I think I'm very lucky. I'll remind myself of a variety of things, varying from time to time, such as wanting to be of help to others, or of the importance of using the talents I have to help to others, or of the importance of using the talents I have to help increase knowledge, or of how much suffering there is in the world and my hope that I can do at least a little something to lessen it. And then I usually either pray specifically for somebody else's health or welfare or to be guided in stubborn, but I pray that I'll be subtly guided to do my best and even do some good. Depending on my mood, I'll pray to different beings. If I'm in a Buddhist frame of mind, I'll think I'm praying to some Bodhisattva. Sometimes I'll pray to God; sometimes I'll think of praying to the Highest, whatever that is. I don't really know what or who I pray to, except that it's something or someone much vaster and wiser than I am. ~ Charles Tart
Always focus on the Highest Reality to achieve success within your Being
June 26 ~ Thursday 2008
The Principle involved in this process can be understood. The Beingness which we are talking about in terms of consciousness, being, personality, the Universe, time, space and change is all made of the same stuff. It is all Beingness... it is all Consciousness on the highest level. But this consciousness is the same consciousness we discover within ourselves. If we look at this Infinite Mind and the formulas through which everything throughout the Universe operates we can see our part in this process and how it can work for us. Understanding this process exists now. You can change your life. You can change your consciousness. You can alter the projected reality of what we call the world. You are not simply atoms from billion year old stardust... you are connected to the same Consciousness which has always existed and which always will. You are billions of years old despite the appearances we perceive in this holographic reality we call "our world". ~ Dr. Derek Lamar
We are stardust, we are golden, we are billion year old carbon...
Got to get ourselves back to the garden. ~ Joni Mitchell
June 25 ~ Wednesday 2008
We gaze up at the same stars, the sky covers us all, the same universe encompasses us. What does it matter what practical system we adopt in our search for the truth? Not by one avenue alone can we arrive at so tremendous a secret. ~ Symachus
Knock and the door will open, seek and you shall find
June 24 ~ Tuesday 2008
"Handicapped" is a word we use freely. However, those of us more fortunate admire our own generosity and charity as it is reflected in our compassion. In contemplating the performance to take place today, I began preparing myself psychologically as well as organizing what songs I would perform that would be appropriate... appropriate for a "handicapped" audience. I realized the real word is "crippled". Those of us who are "physically fit" cringe at the mention of... "cripple". Somehow charity and compassion aren't at our disposal when we are confronted with our fears. We are all afraid of being crippled. We identify with it so strongly we invent new words to block it out. We are ALL crippled it seems. Being crippled is the helplessness we all experience in whatever form. It is almost cliche to ask "who is really crippled?" This very liberal approach is overshadowed by those who can say... "I am crippled." Some of us hide our helplessness more easily than others but we are all in the same predicament. As soon as we all realize this, then we can all move on and fight for the wholeness and completeness that our struggle demands. We each do this in our own way. My way is music. ~ Derek Lamar (performing a concert at United Cerebral Palsy, July 22, 1979).
Rise and be healed, be healed and realize your Reality: I AM
June 23 ~ Monday 2008
No matter what you are experiencing in life, it is your life and it is your consciousness of it. If you want to change your life and the world you live in you must change your consciousness. Everything is made up of thought, simply change your mind and your experience will change as well. ~ Dr. Derek Lamar
Ch... ch... ch... changes... look out you rock and rollers ~ David Bowie
June 22 ~ Sunday 2008
In what seems to be madness in the world is the makings of something on a higher level which will reflect the changes in consciousness which are unfolding even as you read this. The 21st Century is the era in which these great predictions shall occur. The Chinese curse of "living in interesting times" is upon us. ~ Dr. Derek Lamar
As Mind changes so does the world around us
June 21 ~ Saturday 2008
In a class where esoteric material is presented in a spiritual manner there is a change in consciousness which occurs. This occurs within the individual minds during the experience and the room of the event becomes a sacred holy place while that Teaching is transmitted. This is why when one experiences a class of that type feels changed within even if they cannot pinpoint what in their consciousness was changed. More often than not "enlightenment" occurs bit by bit like the chipping away of stone during the creation of a statue. ~ Derek Lamar
Matter doesn't matter and Beingness is the most substantial Reality there is
June 20 ~ Friday 2008
It's a youth in Asia, killing off the old for a brand new world. It is just Fantasia, stoned and lonely with a different girl. Don't say nothing... do you know what I mean? Keep the movie rolling. You don't want to have to scream. It's a Roman Holiday, freedom on the run, nothing left to say. It is just a matinee but the line is long and you don't wanna pay. You don't look back and you don't ask why. You don't give a damn, you believe the lies. There's nothing left that you can trade. You close your eyes and you hope it'll go away. ~ Derek Lamar (Youth In Asia)
All the world's his geisha, blind to the rope tied around her neck...
June 19 ~ Thursday 2008
Behind dark glasses and pink passe', you are a mirror coming my way. I have to say... it kinda brings me down. Your New York City's not my kinda town. You praise the wild side, that's your kind of game. But it's just a movie from Warhol fame. Like Delesandro, and Ultra too, Ondine and Viva, and the blonde chanteuse. ~ Derek Lamar (Behind Dark Glasses)
You buried your anger like a clown on fire...
- June 18 ~ Wednesday 2008
Palm trees in paradise, the wind is blowing a fragrance... so nice. Pua Melia, lokelani, kukunaokala, Pakalana, Maunaloa, Pua Melia. ~ Derek Lamar (Palm Trees In Paradise from Imprints LP)
Paradise is the realization of Heaven within
June 17 ~ Tuesday 2008
The man who abides in the will of God wills nothing else than what God is, and what He wills. If he were ill he would not wish to be well. If he really abides in God's will, all pain is to him a joy, all complication, simple: yea, even the pains of hell would be a joy to him. He is free and gone out from himself, and from all that he receives, he must be free. If my eye is to discern colour, it must itself be free from all colour. The eye with which I see God is the same with which God sees me. My eye and God's eye is one eye, and one sight, and one knowledge, and one love. ~ Meister Eckhart
Eye Am that Eye Am...
June 16 ~ Monday 2008
The mystics who declare that to God there is no distinction in the value of things, and that only our human prejudice makes us prefer a rose to an oyster, or a lion to a monkey, have, of course, a reason for what they say. If we could strip ourselves of our human nature, we should undoubtedly find ourselves incapable of making these distinctions, as well as of thinking, perceiving, or willing in any way which is now possible to us. ~ George Santayana
To everything there is a season...
June 15 ~ Sunday 2008
You must look inside to understand what is going on around you. And as you look at what is going on around you, you will discover what is happening inside. ~ Dr. Derek Lamar, metaphysicist
One way or another you are on your way to the Allness of Oneness...
June 14 ~ Saturday 2008
We could say that meditation doesn't have a reason or doesn't have a purpose. In this respect it's unlike almost all other things we do except perhaps making music and dancing. When we make music we don't do it in order to reach a certain point, such as the end of the composition. If that were the purpose of music then obviously the fastest players would be the best. Also, when we are dancing we are not aiming to arrive at a particular place on the floor as in a journey. When we dance, the journey itself is the point, as when we play music the playing itself is the point. And exactly the same thing is true in meditation. Meditation is the discovery that the point of life is always arrived at in the immediate moment. ~ Alan Watts
In the immediate moment of life is the time to want to know the Self
June 13 ~ Friday 2008
Do not spend your life trying to figure out where you went wrong when you are only feeling that way based on the belief that it is your problem when it might simply be a reflection, not of the reality, but of your ongoing belief about yourself. Sometimes we must look at ourselves in order to confront our shortcomings in a psychological sense but other times we must know we are using those shortcomings simply because we belief a false idea about who we really are, not just in the Spiritual sense, but in an everyday human way as well. Often this comes from our childhood and things we learned and we adapted to a behavior which confirmed that false idea. Parents say things with the best of intentions in order that we strive to be better while those of us more sensitive begin to think we need to be better because there is something wrong with us as we are. Face yourself and how you feel about yourself and then step aside from that belief and know who you really are, who you are in terms of the vastness of Consciousness and the perfection you really are in your Divine Self which you must awaken to. ~ Dr. Derek Lamar
In the Nowness of Infinity is who we really are
June 12 ~ Thursday 2008
Do not dwell in the past, do not dream of the future, concentrate the mind on the present moment. ~ Buddha
In the Nowness of Infinity is the realm of all time: Eternity
June 11 ~ Wednesday 2008
Holding on to anger is like grasping a hot coal with the intent of throwing it at someone else; you are the one getting burned. ~ Buddha
Let it go and the healing begins
June 10 ~ Tuesday 2008
Wholeness is flowing movement. With the hologram, the movement of interference patterns of coherent light enfolds a subtle range of structures and orders. In a similar, but unthinkably vaster, way, the whole movement or "holomovement" of the universe carries the implicate order and allows us to see and experience our four-dimensional space-time world. ~ Briggs and Peat (Looking Glass Universe)
Our world is like a carousel and where one gets off they always get off in a different place and at the same place at the same time. This is because you are always here and everywhere else at the same time. The same yesterday, today and forever. ~ Dr. Derek Lamar
Truth is infinite and never stagnant therefore it is ongoing expressing infinite variety now
June 9 ~ Monday 2008
I would love to recommend someone for the White House but sadly I just hear the echo and no words. Until we begin to see and understand that it isn't about "left wing" or "right wing" but rather an androgynous political perspective where the extremes are realized in their innate state we will forever be trapped by the slavery of duality forever one side fighting the other until we scream: "I am sick and tired and I'm not going to take it anymore." ~ Dr. Derek Lamar
All is equal in Reality and nothing is equal in duality
June 8 ~ Sunday 2008
When you feel trapped and confused and sense that things are not right and everything around you seems to be going wrong, you have entered into that "zone" where you are facing an opportunity to find your Self and set your Self free by realizing that all of the ideas you have accepted about yourself and your world have been all wrong. But there is an answer. That answer is available always within you. Most of the time the Truth is just the opposite of what the world has told you is the way things are. Not always that blatantly obvious and the world isn't usually trying to fool you because the world believes in all of this illusion. But it is an indication that it is your time to "Wake Up". Waking up to the Truth that Reality is based on Infinity, not finiteness, thus life and not death, health and not disease, love and not hate, peace and not war. ~ Dr. Derek Lamar
All is Eternal and this Reality never ends and it never changes
June 7 ~ Saturday 2008
We can easily forgive a child who is afraid of the dark; the real tragedy of life is when men are afraid of the light.
All is Light for Light is Absolute Knowledge: the only Reality
June 6 ~ Friday 2008
In ordinary life, we are not aware of the unity of all things, but divide the world into separate objects and events. This division is useful and necessary to cope with our everyday environment, but it is not a fundamental feature of reality. It is an abstraction devised by our discriminating and categorising intellect. To believe that our abstract concepts of separate ‘things’ and ‘events’ are realities of nature is an illusion. (Capra, The Tao of Physics, 1975)
All is One, All is connected, All is united, All is Mind
June 5 ~ Thursday 2008
Being what you were created to be, is just letting your light shine. That self which you are is beautiful and unique; it is individual to you. No one in all the world can be you; to try is to be a poor imitation. So be yourself! You and I have just one job --- the job of being what we were created to be. No one can compete with us in being ourselves. Only one person in all the world can be you --- that one is yourself. ~ Frances Wade Gott (Science of Being, 1923)
Being Eternal, Whole, Complete and Perfect!
June 4 ~ Wednesday 2008
Tomorrow is "trash day" where I am on the street where I live. Such a common everyday mundane chore: the throwing out of things one does not need or use. We must think of this connected with our consciousness. Of the things we no longer need to hold onto as it pertains to negative feelings or ideas which are counter-productive. Give them the old heave-ho. ~ Derek Lamar
Out and back... receiving and letting go... holding onto Truth, dismissing illusion
June 3 ~ Tuesday 2008
It seems that so much of life for most people is pretending that if they can catch a glimpse of what was real to them in life when they were young that somehow everything would be better, alright, and maybe perfect. But crossing that middle ground to get there is like waking up in what seems to be the middle of the night and having to go outside and check a noise you heard and you are barefoot and the gravel and indiscriminately scattered rocks and bits and pieces of debris are killing your feet while at the same time you are trying to be quiet about it, hoping no one will see you skulking about in your underwear in the dawn light as it cracks through the trees at the same time the moon quickly tries to leave the sky far off in the other direction. You finally manage to stub your toe and ignoring the pain of running on the rocks you make it back into the house. ~ Derek Lamar
Stream of consciousness doesn't necessarily mean you are in touch with God
June 2 ~ Monday 2008
Again and again those who are turning to the ABSOLUTE find that certain conditions cling like the proverbial chestnut bur, even when the ALLNESS of God seems to stand out clearly to them. Their insistent inquiry is: What does one do in such a case?
The fore-going explanation of time, of fate or destiny, should clear away any seeming untoward situation. The fact that there is no title, hence no history, no racial background, no creation of humanity with its ills and shortcomings. its inclinations and declinations, should reveal unmistakably PERPETUAL PERFECTION. To the ONE MIND there is nothing less than Itself, AWARE of Its FULL BEING. This Self is the SELF 1 AM!
This is TRUTH. However, thought-taking may seem to have entrapped the unwary. Metaphysics has trained many to "watch" their "thinking". They have been instructed to love their enemies - to do good at all times, to minister unto the poor and needy, to bring enlightenment to those who sit in darkness. All this, of course, in accord with Holy Writ. But to do these things, one must first assume there is something less than God, or more than the ONE ALONE. If there are poor and needy, if there are those in darkness, sin, suffering, trouble --- if there are those who have the Light and can instruct others and show them the way, then God is NOT the ALONE ONE, the ALL OF ALL! These troubled ones and these enlightened ones are outside of God, the ONE ALL! ~ Alfred Aiken (The Unchallenged Self, 1954)
Within the mathematics of Allness is the realm of the Infinite through which all is revealed and there is nothing outside of the Allness of Perfection... all else is illusion ~ D.L.
June 1 ~ Sunday 2008
He went on to talk about Heisenberg's uncertainty principle: In the late 1800's, Werner Heisenberg, a German scientist, had developed a mathematical model that showed that we could only know either the position or the momentum of an electron, but never both, because to know one factor destroyed both our capability to know the other factor and its existence. Although it described subatomic phenomena, it applied equally well to so-called real-world events. For instance, if we know how fast a train is moving, we cannot say with certainty where it is, because it is, in fact, moving. In order to determine the precise position of the train, we must destroy its momentum, its forward speed. At the moment we fix its position, its speed can no longer be known with certainty. As soon as we try to determine its speed again, our certain knowledge of its position evaporates. ~ Stephen Lewis and Evan Slawson (Sanctuary: The Path To Consciousness,1998)
A new era is upon us and unfolding within the Mind which is our Self
