Quote of the Day 2009
Sorry for haphazard appearance of "Quotes"... in February and March. We were experiencing computer difficulty but we are up and operational again and except for a delay here and there. We should soon be back to normal and adding new stuff and doing some makeovers as well. Everything was backed up but with the crash of our computer we did lose some emails. Contact us if you would so we can be sure we still have your email address and have you for our mailing list. Mahalo nui loa, Derek

The Buddhist Sutra of Mindfulness speaks about the meditation on the corpse: meditate on the decomposition of the body, how the body bloats and turns violet, how it is eaten by worms until only bits of blood and flesh still cling to the bones, meditate up to the point where only white bones remain, which in turn are slowly worn away and turn into dust. Meditate like that, knowing that your own body will undergo the same process. Meditate on the corpse until you are calm and at peace, until your mind and heart are light and tranquil and a smile appears on your face. Thus, by overcoming revulsion and fear, life will be seen as infinitely precious, every second of it worth living. ~ Thich Nhat Hanh
Know also that life is forever

Essentially Satori is a sudden experience, and it is often described as a "turning over" of the mind, just as a pair of scales will suddenly turn over when a sufficient amount of material has been poured into one pan to overbalance the weight in the other. Hence it is an experience which generally occurs after a long and concentrated effort to discover the meaning of Zen. ~ Alan Watts

If I tell you that I want you to relax for a meditative experience and that I want you to imagine a beautiful Zen garden as far as you can see without moving and that I am going to paint a circle in the sky that is going to float downward toward the pond near the center of your vision you will become totally occupied with this experience. If the circle however drops too fast your sense of calmness will escape and if the circle moves too slowly you will lose interest and visions of other objects will catch your attention or thoughts will begin to creep into your consciousness and your meditation will turn into a boring recollection. It then will become that small spectrum of speed and attention span which will capture that quiet secret place deep inside of you where you can discover that peace which is truly you. How sad that we create so much busy activity around us or that we actually require distractions to save us from having to give up our self-destructive impulses.
It was Zen that I could see, it is Now that I'm set free

In 1895, a 16-year-old German student named Albert Einstein made a curious reflection: "What would the universe look like riding on a beam of light?" For Einstein, this inquiry was at once spiritual and scientific. He would later assert: "I maintain that the cosmic religious feeling is the strongest and noblest motive for scientific research." Einstein did not put aside his wonderment, but pursued the riddles of light for nine years. His efforts eventually led to a major breakthrough in physics-the special theory of relativity. This theory, however, did not fully solve the mystery of light. Throughout the subsequent development of modern physics, light remained at center stage. As stated by Richard Morris: "The fundamental theories on which all modern physics is based-relativity and quantum mechanics - grew directly out of attempts to understand the nature of light." The discoveries of 20th century physics led science to the very boundary of the objective, physical world, and forced it to postulate the existence of a higher-dimensional realm beyond the material world of time-space. In that higher realm, the speed of light is transcended and all things are connected simultaneously. That realm is the source of all quantized matter, and (according to one of today's top physicists) may be the source of "life" and consciousness as well. These unexpected findings have prompted a number of this century's top physicists to publish their views on the subject of higher consciousness. ~ William E. Williams (Unbounded Light: The Inward Journey, 1992)

Once you know the truth that you and your Father are One, that you are not that which others see, only physical form, but you are Soul---and as such you abide in the Father's House then does this mind of yours come into its true estate, becoming My instrument for My use. It is said that no one brings forth an accomplishment in any way without assisting the whole race. It is the energy we add, directed toward one great attitude of thought, that carries humanity on. I would say that Friday the 13th might be unlucky... except I am going to a library book sale.... oh yeah.... nothing bad about that. I can't believe how many books I have gotten for my library there. These aren't library books, they are books donated to the "Friends of the Library" association. Good stuff usually... and music and movies too. I'd better get to bed. Oh, you want a quote. Hmmmmmmmm.
