Q.M.I. Presents Derek Lamar's

June 1999

Quote of the Day

Wednesday June 30th

"My thought is a tender leaf that sways in every direction and finds pleasure in its swaying." - Kahlil Gibran

"My pleasure is swaying in a tender way finding in my thought its direction." - Derek Lamar

Tuesday June 29th

"Statement of Being. There is only One life, and that life is God; because that life is God, it is perfect. Since there is only One life, then that life is man's life -- the only life there is for man to have or to be. Therefore, nothing apart from that One life is present or has any power." ~ Frances Wade Gott (Science of Being, 1923)

Beingness continues...

Monday June 28th

"We see a fact to be that which can be a fact today, and not necessarily be a fact tomorrow. A fact can change or even cease to be. Now what we term an Absolute Truth is that which never changes. If it is an Absolute Truth today, it remains an Absolute Truth --- the same yesterday, today and forever. To know the Absolute Truth is to be able to change facts. To change facts is called demonstration. The Absolute Truth is that which eternaly is. There can be no such thing as that which is not, hence the Truth is all there really is." ~ Frances Wade Gott (Science of Being, 1923)

Sunday June 27th

"If you know that your body is made up of spiritual ideas, instead of material organs, you can control your body by reflecting God's thoughts." ~ Alexander Keene (Exposition of Ontology, Book No. 2)

Saturday June 26th

"O Christ! Thou Son of God! My own eternal Self! Live thou thy life in me; do thou thy will in me; be thou made flesh in me; I will have no will but thine! I will have no self but thee!" ~ Old Gaelic Rune (Science of Being by Frances Wade Gott, 1923)

Friday June 25th

"The day will come when, after harnessing space, the winds, the tides, and gravitation, we shall harness for God the energies of love. And on that day, for the second time in the history of the world, we shall have discovered fire." ~ Pierre Teilhard De Chardin

Thursday June 24th

"What if you closed your eyes and there was nothing but darkness to start with? And then light and fluctuations of shapes an images began to dance around you within your mind. What if things began to appear to you and all of these things reflected your consciousness. They all expressed attributes of you. And these attributes included the everpresent completeness you are. They are reflected your wholeness and harmony. Everything within your consciousness is YOU and whatever you think about what you see is what you think about yourself. You are all there is. You are MIND. As you experience your mind, whether it be as you imagine yourself to be, or as you project yourself as others to be, or as a multitude of change and movement, this is all you. This is the unfoldment of mind and you are it." ~ Derek Lamar

Being continues...

Wednesday June 23rd

"What if everything within this body of yours reflected the attributes of Mind as it expresses itself out and back to itself? What if the brain is just a thought within consciousness expressing the completeness of mind unto itself? What if the eyes symbolize the vision Mind has of itself and in perceiving the infinite variety of Truth it is out and back to itself? What if one's mouth speaks the word which is the living idea of being into being? What if the ears reflect the listening Mind is unto itself always and fully aware of itself? What if the heart expresses the infinite feeling of love Mind has for itself and all that it is? What if the lungs are consciousness knowing itself as the spirit of itself breathing in and out of itself life eternal? What if the stomach is our ability as consciousness to digest what we know of ourself? What if the liver, the pancreas, the intestines, the gall bladder, and all other body parts are just thoughts within consciousness which express in perfect order the MIND of I AM as it expresses itself out and back to itself harmoniously and forever?" ~ Derek Lamar

Tuesday June 22nd

"What if everything you perceived was actually the perception you have of attributes of mind? What if, as MIND, you perceived that you were a whole being capable of interacting with yourself and through this idea you created a filtering system which allowed you to perceive yourself in the form of a body within your mind? What if the concept of being able to handle oneself created within your mind the concept of hands? What if being able to keep in touch with your self you manifested the idea of skin and nerves and fingers and could reach out toward all that is because all that is is you and you could then touch yourself as mind. What if your ability to understand manifested as the ability you have to ground yourself with your feet and represent understanding? What if your foundation of thought was outpictured within your mind as legs and where you stood on things about your self was there connected to your understanding? What if your mind was housed within you as a brain and controlled all of you as self within this MIND that you are? What if how you support yourself was seen as your back? What if your creativity as MIND was manifested as an ability to reproduce thoughts of yourself and this was seen as sexuality and as genitals? What if all body parts actually represented within your mind the myriad of aspects of consciousness expressing itself to itself and that all it is is actually within your mind?" ~ Derek Lamar

Questions continues...

Monday June 21st

"In the 13th Century Mohammed gave his followers a bit of advice that it would be well for us to follow today. He said, 'If thou has two loaves of bread, sell one and buy white hyacinths for thy soul.' By this he meant that as the physical body needs food to sustain it, so also does the soul need spiritual nourishment for its sustenance. This food which the soul requires is sweetness, purity, fragrance, and beauty. Unless your soul is fed as well as your physical body, your body cannot compensate for the loss that comes from this soul starvation. No amount of material supply will recompense you for the loss of soul-satisfaction." ~ Robert W. Caswell (New Horizons)

Nourishment continues...

Sunday June 20th

Bonnie Mae Gunn Ryan (February 23, 1911 - June 19,1999)

In the turmoil and wrestling against the forces of life itself, in the confusion and anguish of being thrown into a sea of humanity without a map, to stand alone in pain with an occasional glimpse of the self, of Truth and of God, there was acceptance of the self and the ongoingness of life and finally peace. God is a God of the living and there is no death. In this transition there is but a walking from one door to another as mind unfolding, reborn, refreshed and ready to face a new day. And so it is.

Saturday June 19th

"If you would indeed behold the spirit of death, open your heart wide unto the body of life. For life and death are one, even as the river and sea are one." ~ Kahlil Gibran

"There is no death! Our stars go down to rise upon some fairer shore; and bright in heaven's jeweled crown, they shine for evermore. There is no death! The dust we tread shall change beneath the summer showers to golden grain, or mellow fruit, or rainbow-tinted flowers. The granite rocks in powder fall and feed the hungry moss they bear; the fairest leaves drink daily life from out the viewless air. There is no death! The leaves may fall; the flowers may fade and pass away. they only wait through wintry hours the coming of the May. And, ever near us, though unseen, the fair immortal spirits tread; for all the boundless universe is life. There are no dead!" ~ John L. McCreery

Life continues...

Friday June 18th

"Plato likened the human body to a river: 'The water changes, but the river remains the same.' What did Jesus mean when He said, 'I am the resurrection and the Life?' He meant that identity is preserved though the material of the body be changed. The Principle of identity never perishes; it is never destroyed in all the changes and fluctuations of the material organism; it survives even the shock of death. Our conclusion must, therefore, be that although the natural (physical) body belonging to the material world is in a constant state of flux, spiritual man himself is birthless, deathless and imperishable." ~ Robert A. Russell (Dry Those Tears)

"And at that point of understanding one must eventually recognize that of this spiritual man, it too is but a reflection of the ONE MIND which ultimately is our True Identity as Oneness expressing our SELF in infinite variety: out and back to itself." ~ Derek Lamar

Thursday June 17th

"It is this Power which enables you to transfer your thoughts from one form to another. The power to change your mind is the individualized Universal Power taking the initiative, giving direction to the unformed substance contained in every thought. It is the simplest thing in the world to give this highly sensitive Substance any form you will, through visualizing. Anyone can do it with a small expenditure of effort. Once you really believe that your mind is a center through which the unformed substance of all there is in your world, takes involuntary form, the only reason your picture does not always materialize is because you have introduced something antagonistic to the fundamental principle." ~ Genevieve Behrend (Your Invisible Power: The Religious Science of Judge T. Troward)

"In visualizing, or making a mental picture, you are not endeavoring to change the laws of Nature. You are fulfilling them. Your object in visualizing is to bring things into regular order, both mentally and physically. When you realize that this method of employing the Creative Power brings your desires, one after another, into practical, material accomplishment, your confidence in the mysterious but unfailing law of attraction, which has its central power station in the very heart of your word-picture, becomes supreme. Nothing can shake it. You never feel that it is necessary to take anything from anybody else. You have learned that asking and seeking have, as their correlatives, receiving and finding. You know that all you have to do is to start the plastic substance of the Universe flowing into the thought-moulds your picture-desire provides." ~ Genevieve Behrend (Your Invisible Power: The Religious Science of Judge T. Troward)

"Thou perceivest the Flowers put forth their precious Odours, and none can tell how from so small a center comes such sweets, forgetting that within that center Eternity expands its ever during doors." ~ William Blake (1757-1827) Milton

"Life is a fragment, a moment between two eternities, influenced by all that has preceded, and to influence all that follows. The only way to illumine it is by extent of view." ~ William Ellery Channing (1780-1842) Journals

"The time will come when every change shall cease, this quick revolving wheel shall rest in peace: no summer then shall glow, nor winter freeze; nothing shall be to come, and nothing past, but an eternal now shall ever last." ~ Petrarch (1304-1374) The Triumph of Eternity

"Why does the time slip through my fingers seemingly lost forever and yet, life seems to just keep repeating itself over and over. When will it end, this endless existence, when what is sought to lose comes round and round again? But that illusive butterfly of change which makes all things aright seems closer but out of reach each step we take toward its capture. We must accept that this change is already now and that the repetition is the chorus of angels heralding in a new beginning." ~ Derek Lamar

"The Super power who feigns a democracy supporting freedom wages war on the world, individuals of power put humanity through psychological tests and biological experiments, free speech flourishes where ideas of a non-confrontational nature are expressed as they exist to the body politic, all is well in the land of Oz, but as to earth? Is there life on Mars? Put your faith in your path and your work to uncover your Higher Self and your link to the infinite for in this endeavor only will you find safety. Do it now." ~ Derek Lamar

"We stand on the brink of... a new age: the age of an open world and of a self capable of playing its part in that larger sphere... Every goal [humanity]... reaches provides a new starting point, and the sum of all [humanity's]... days is just a beginning." - Lewis Mumford

"Every [human] transformation... has rested on a new metaphysical and ideological base; or rather, upon deeper stirrings and intuitions whose rationalized expression takes the form of a new picture of the cosmos and the nature of man." ~ Lewis Mumford (The Transformations of Man)

"We are now on a path of transformation as a species whereas in the past, this journey has been an individual endeavor. But just as there are those waking up and accepting this light, there are those becoming aware of this change and sense a part of themselves dying and out of fear they are reacting in what seems arbitrary ways. This is the battle between the light and the dark. But once understood we must see that it only reflects the battle within ourselves and that there is no grand conflict which we must attend other than the confrontation of the self." ~ Derek Lamar

"Every transformation... has rested on a new metaphysical and ideological base; or rather, upon deeper stirrings and intuitions whose rationalized expression takes the form of a new picture of the cosmos and the nature of man." ~ Lewis Mumford

"Recent conceptual developments in the mind-brain sciences rejecting reductionism and mechanistic determinism on the one side, and dualisms on the other, clear the way for a rational approach to the theory and prescription of values and to a natural fusion of science and religion." - Roger Sperry

"Unless there is a gigantic conspiracy involving... highly respected scientists in various fields, many of them originally hostile to the claims of the psychic researchers, the only conclusion the unbiased observer can come to must be that there are people who obtain knowledge existing in other people's minds, or in the outer world, by means yet unknown to science." - H.J. Eysenck

Thinking continues...

Friday, June 11th

"I know you gave this some thought, but I haven't yet heard from you. I cannot emphasize enough how crucial it is that all of you get yourself on a path. Not one of acquiring knowledge for the sake of increase, but one which involves inner work which achieves a decrease. A lessening of the ego, of the human mind of dualistic thinking. It is not enough merely to agree with ideas but rather to understand them in such a way as to make them your own. They must become living organisms within your soul working to release your true self as the falseness of misinformation about your divinity drops to the side and fades into oblivion. It is not enough to simply acknowledge higher ideas, but one must immerse themselves for the purpose of change. We are on the edge of change now and before we leap to the other side, we need to lighten our load as much as possible." ~ Derek Lamar

"No weapons hurt the soul; no fire burns it; no waters moisten it; no wind dries it up. It is imperishable, perpetual, immovable, eternal. Therefore, knowing it thus, you should not grieve.." ~ The Bhagavad Gita

"Every time we have an experience of knowing God, it opens up the window to eternity a little more until after sufficient realization we are swept into the fullness of that reality." ~ Derek Lamar

"We must not only cut asunder the snare of the mind and the senses, but flee also from the snare of the thinker, the snare of the theologian and the church-builder, the meshes of the Word and the bondage of the idea. All these are within us waiting to wall in the spirit with forms; but we must always go beyond, always renounce the lesser for the greater, the finite for the infinite; we must be prepared to proceed from illumination to illumination, from experience to experience, from soul-state to soul-state..." ~ Sri Aurobindo (The Adventure of Consciousness)

"I am only one. But still, I am one. I cannot do everything, but still I can do something. I will  not refuse to do the something that I can do." ~ Edward Everett Hale

"And when we choose not to find our Path and discover ourselves, realize that it would benefit the children yet unborn as well as the multitudes around you. Do this for your extended self until your immediate self feels worthy. Then you will understand and honor change for the sake of change. Change for yourself, others on the path, and children yet unborn. These are the three phases of the Work. This is recognizing spiritual honor." ~ Derek Lamar

"In being totally selfish and taking care of yourself, you do the most for others." ~ Derek Lamar

"The right kind of education, while encouraging the learning of a technique, should accomplish something which is of far greater importance: it should help man to experience the integrated process of life. It is this experiencing that will put capacity and technique in their right place. If one really has something to say, the very saying of it creates its own style; but learning a style without inward experiencing can only lead to superficiality." -Krishnamurti, Education And The Significance Of Life

"The concept that we live in a universe of equal beings can make sense of all religions, and can contain all metaphysical attitudes. It is the easiest raft to discard when we reach the other shore that is no shore. It can tell us how to live on this plane, it can integrate our scientific knowledge, it can show how our physical existence is the expression of spiritual laws. It gives us an absolutely confident understanding of what is true and what is real. Equal and unique live beings are all that is fully true and real in the universe. We are the universe." - Thaddeus Golas (The Lazy Man's Guide to Enlightenment)

"Until we have acquired this knowledge we can say only that somewhere between our sense organs and our mind the outer world dies, to be reborn on a different level of existence." - Franz E. Winkler (Man: The Bridge Between Two Worlds)

"All the water in the world cannot sink a ship unless it gets inside the ship. All the sorrow in the world cannot hurt you unless it gets inside your mind. Thoughts form, as it were, an atmosphere through which every external event must pass. They are the real things from whence all joy, from whence all sorrow springs." ~ Robert A. Russell (Dry Those Tears)

"I am nothing, I am empty, I am silent. I have no resistance to the vibrations of other beings. I have no resistance to the expansions and contractions of other beings." ~ Thaddeus Golas (The Lazy Man's Guide To Enlightenment)
"Once you begin to behave in the knowledge that no being is greater or lesser than you, then you are free to change, because you will feel stable no matter what level you are on. You will feel calm and sure of yourself with or without a body, with or without a job, a brain, a book to read, or a book to write." ~ Thaddeus Golas (The Lazy Man's Guide To Enlightenment)
