Q.M.I. Presents Derek Lamar's

November 1999

Quote of the Day

Tuesday November 30th

"If you would never cease to pray, never cease to long for it. The continuance of your longing is the continuance of your prayer." ~ St. Augustine

"A constant state of prayer, simply put, is a state of consciousness where you are 'one with the Father', which is to say, ONENESS as the I AM, and in doing so one is seeing the Truth behind all things, all thoughts and all feelings. This state not only is pure Spirit cognized but answers all questions and supplies all needs on all levels in the inclusive realm of Absolute Beingness." ~ Derek Lamar

Knowingness continues...

Monday November 29th

It isn't so much we discover how we can obtain what we want or need but we must find and remove the block within us which is keeping us from ourselves, for within ourselves is the answers to all questions and the resolvement to all problems." ~ Derek Lamar

Sunday November 28th

"The purpose of prayer is not one where we give a list of requests and hope someone answers our needs, it is a process by which we beseech a higher power to such an extent that we exhaust our human self and in our pause we finally begin to hear our own inner voice speak, and knowing it is God, our answers issue forth within." ~ Derek Lamar

Realization continues...

Saturday November 27th

"Our humanity were a poor thing were it not for the divinity that stirs within us." ~ Francis Bacon

"Our lives are songs; God writes the words and we set them to music at pleasure; and the song grows glad, or sweet or sad, as we choose to fashion the measure." ~ Ella Wheeler Wilcox

"Every man's life is a plan of God" ~ Horace Bushnell

"May you live all the days of your life." ~ Jonathan Swift

Realness continues...

Friday November 26th

"Be not simply good; be good for something."

~ Henry David Thoreau

"We ought to do good to others as simply and as naturally as a horse runs, or a bee makes honey, or a vine bears grapes season after season without thinking of the grapes it has borne." ~ Marcus Aurelius

"God has put something noble and good into every heart which his hand created." ~ Mark Twain

Right-Use-Ness (Righteousness) continues...

Thursday November 25th

"He laid her on the table, so white, clean and bare. His forehead wet with beads of sweat, he rubbed her here and there.

He touched her neck and then her breast, and then, drooling, felt her thigh. The slit was wet and all was set, he gave a joyous cry. The hole was wide...he looked inside, all was dark and murky. He rubbed his hands and stretched out his arms, and then he stuffed the turkey."

~ anonymous

Ful-fillment continues...

Wednesday November 24th

"Every piece of marble has a statue in it waiting to be released by a man of sufficient skill to chip away the unnecessary parts. Just as the sculptor is to the marble, so is education to the soul. It releases it. For only educated men are free men. You cannot create a statue by smashing the marble with a hammer, and you cannot by force of arms release the spirit or the soul of man." ~ Confuscius

"I am not a teacher, but an awakener." ~ Robert Frost

"Creativity on a conscious level is understanding that something already exists and you are discovering it rather than creating it. Whatever it is you create, you must reach into the realm of the infinite and pull it from the myriad of possibilities which exist as infinite variety and as you receive it you realize that you have discovered something special, but you did not create it, for it always was." ~ Derek Lamar

Discovery continues...

Tuesday November 23rd

"Love all God's creation, both the whole and every grain of sand. Love every leaf, every ray of light. Love the animals, love the plants, love each separate thing. If thou love each thing thou will perceive the mystery of God in all; and when once thou perceive this, thou wilt thence forward grow every day to a fuller understanding of it: until thou come at last to love the whole world with a love that will then be all-embracing and universal." ~ Fyodor Dostoevski

Love continues...

Monday November 22nd

"God, what a world, if men in street and mart felt that same kinship of the human heart, which makes them, in the face of fire and flood, rise to the meaning of True Brotherhood." ~ Ella Wheeler Wilcox

"Remember this during Y2K." ~ Derek Lamar

Oneness continues...

Sunday November 21st

"One's path should involve several things. Learning about the world around them. Paying close attention to themselves and what they react to from within and without. Find a mentor of integrity whose life is an ongoing process of personal learning. Learn as much as they can. Take the process and techniques and whatever tools they have learned to use and USE them until they feel they need something more. Then move on to the next level and begin the process again." ~ Derek Lamar

Learning continues...

Saturday November 20th

"Life changes day by day, miracles abound all around, the hand of God can be found in everything which casts a shadow until one finally discovers the light which does not and yet we still long for something we call power, something primitive and brutish, something which can conquer those who face off outside of us even though we know that there is nothing outside of us and that Reality screams that we are one, but power is only given up when total control of the self is achieved. One does not find power on the spiritual path in the form of a gift, the gift of is when desire for power becomes meaningless." ~ Derek Lamar

Ability continues...

Friday November 19th

"I have walked with people whose eyes are full of light but who see nothing in sea or sky, nothing in city streets, nothing in books. It were far better to sail forever in the night of blindness with sense, and feeling, and mind, than to be content with the mere act of seeing. The only lightless dark is the night of darkness in ignorance and insensibility." ~ Helen Keller

Vision continues...

Thursday November 18th

"The greatness of Schweitzer -- indeed the essence of Schweitzer -- is the man as symbol. It is not so much what he has done for others, but what others have done because of him and the power of his example. This is the measure of the man. What has come out of his life and thought is the kind of inspiration that can animate a generation. He has supplied a working demonstration of reverence for life." ~ Norman Cousins

Life Itself continues...

Wednesday November 17th

"We like someone because. We love someone although." ~ Henri De Montherlant

"He loves each of us, as if there were only one of us." ~ St. Augustine

"I like not only to be loved, but to be told that I am loved; the realm of silence is large enough beyond the grave." ~ George Eliot

"Love can be looking into the eyes of another as if they were all that is, but also it can be finding oneself in their eyes as only they see us." ~ Derek Lamar

Love continues...

Tuesday November 16th

"You may give them your love but not your thoughts, for they have their own thoughts, you may house their bodies but not their souls, for their souls dwell in the house of tomorrow, which you cannot visit, not even in your dreams. You may strive to be like them, but seek not to make them like you. For life goes not backward nor tarries with yesterday. You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth." ~ Kahlil Gibran

Birth & Death: Eternal Cycle of Life continues...

Monday November 15th

"The person who does not show animals love and compassion is themselves an out of control beast." ~ Derek Lamar

Love continues...

Sunday November 14th

"To understand today, you have to search yesterday." ~ Pearl S. Buck

"Like smoke rings in the dark." ~ Gary Allan

I just heard a song called "Smoke Rings In The Dark" by Gary Allan and I was really impressed. I am not an avid country and western listener but I love all music. This song was from the soul and very real. It reminded me of Gene Clark, former lead vocalist and guistarist for the Byrds, later the Dillard and Clark Expedition and then teamed up with Carla Olson as well as Byrd reunion albums and solo releases. His haunting voice and composing hangs in my mind like "smoke rings" and when I heard that new song by Gary Allan I really felt taken back. It isn't a place or a time but a realness I am talking about. I look forward to hearing the entire CD. Let me know if any of you have heard it. ~ Derek Lamar

Discovery continues...

Saturday November 13th

"These rivers flow, the eastern towards the West and the western towards the East; from ocean to ocean they flow. They actually become the ocean. And as they do not know which one they are, so all these creatures here, though they have come forth from Being, do not know they have come forth from Being. Whatever they are, whether tiger, lion, wolf, boar, worm, fly, gnat, or mosquito, they all become That. That which is the subtlest of the subtle, the whole world has as its self. That is reality. That is the Self, and that art thou. ~ The Upanishads

Beingness continues...

Friday November 12th

"The meaning and purpose of the world remain to a large extent inexplicable. But one thing is clear: the purpose of all events is spiritual. the purpose of existence is that we human beings, all nations and the whole of humanity, should constantly progress toward perfection. If we do this, our finite spirit will be in harmony with the infinite. If we have this yearning, we shall attain to the peace of God." ~ Albert Schweitzer (1875-1965) Reverence for Life

Perfection continues...

Thursday November 11th

"All mysticism teaches that the depths of man are more than human, that in them lurks a mysterious contact with God and with the world. The true escape from oneself, from one's self-imprisonment and separation from the world, is hidden within one's own self, rather than outside." ~ Nikolai Berdyaev (1874-1948) The Meaning Of The Creative Act

Wednesday November 10th

"When does one know the dream from reality, the dream from the dreamer? When does one know what to do when the picture unfolds? Why do we question everything but hide from all of the answers?" ~ Derek Lamar (DreamScape)

Questions continue...

Tuesday November 9th

"I stand on the shores of the great Wazuni and reach out toward the eternal sun. The sky is filled with colours and the air is alive with the resonance of a new day. I feel the love which comes from the light as it touches my skin. I know I am one with all that is and that there is a new world under my feet. I reach out, I reach in, I kneel and give thanks. In a new world or an old one all is the same for Truth is all there is and God lives in the Beingness of what I know and what I have forgotten." ~ Richard Kula (DreamScape)

Imagination continues...

Monday November 8th

"Dreams are the pictures we paint with our mind which symbolize aspects of our consciousness and what we are going through on the inside. Often these take place subtly merely adding slight pressure to an unfoldment taking place while others perform what is called a shock. The degree to which one feels the affect of a dream is usually determines the wall we have built holding back information which we need to deal with. Sometimes you have just slept too long and you start dreaming really dumb crap which seems to to go on over and over simply because a slight form of something similar to a depression is taking place and you just don't want to get up and face it. The answer is, in any case, to wake up." ~ Derek Lamar (DreamScape)

Communication continues...

Sunday November 7th

"Dreaming is a very important part of our life, our development, our healing, our spiritual communing. It is one of many available paths to use alone and or joined with other exercises to unfold oneself to oneself. A dream can appear to be that which is unreal and yet often the dream is the first glimpse of reality. The first glimpse is a step which will begin a long and properous journey. The experience will take you inside and outside and back and forth until the two are one. " ~ Derek Lamar (DreamScape)

Creativity continues...

Saturday November 6th

"Going to God means focusing on Truth. One can never be rejected by themselves... and one can only reject that which is not himself. All that is God's is Mind and Mind is all there is. All that can be requested already is and already is in Mind for in Truth it IS Mind. To be hungry is to desire sustenance. To desire sustenance is to be fed in Truth. One never lacks for Truth for Truth is Infinite. Supply is Infinite and all needs are fulfilled in Truth for as it is needed... it is supplied.

Materiality is a passing phase as it is a temporal state of consciousness. In Reality there is no materiality in a complete state. Materiality is merely one aspect of viewing consciousness therefore it cannot remain the same for it is but a partial truth. As Truth unfolds, what appeared as permanent shall begin to fade as it moves on toward another expression of the Truth which is changeless. God's will is the expression of Truth and its attributes. To do God's will is to express Truth in its completeness and to allow Truth to have its way with you. This word, this Truth is forever.

Focus on Truth, allow Truth to have its way with you and all of your needs shall be supplied. Material needs are temporal and ongoing and express an aspect of Truth which is forever fulfilling itself." ~ Derek Lamar

Fulfillment continues...

Friday November 5th

"As the molecular structure of the mind does change so does all that one perceives. This is because the perception is always the awareness of one's own consciousness. Therefore as consciousness changes, one's world changes. This is not just in attitude or feeling or thought but in the very structure and within the reality of the core of nature itself, for all is one and all is consciousness." ~ Derek Lamar

Structure continues...

Thursday November 4th

"The path of change is like the history of mankind. It runs for a long period of time in an unnoticeable fashion even though change is ongoing and often passes unnoticed. Imagine you are in a spacecraft and there are an assortment of containers sitting around in your cargo bay just off your own private room. Each one is a different color, size, shape and filled with many interesting items. You are told that in order to make a change you must take one of those containers and jettison it out into open space. You are resistant. You realize that all you know of yourself is contained in those cartons and you feel a sense of loss or even personal death if you have to make the decision to let any of them go. At some point you must understand that what you are is Truth and Truth is forever. You cannot throw away something which is eternal even if you think that is what you are doing. This process of dying is actually a process of rebirth. You will be losing nothing but gaining, rather, a fuller realization of your self." ~ Derek Lamar

Expansion continues...

Wednesday November 3rd

"This is the Truth: as from a blazing fire sparks, being like unto fire, fly forth a thousandfold, thus are various beings brought forth from the Imperishable, my friend, and return thither also. ~ The Upanishads

Tuesday November 2nd

"As the one fire, having entered the world, assumes the forms of all that is in it, so the One inmost Self of all beings takes on their manifold forms outside. ~ The Upanishads
"He who is one, and who dispenses the inherent needs of all peoples and all times, who is in the beginning and end of all things, may He unite us with the bond of Truth, of common fellowship, and of righteousness.. ~ The Upanishads

Eternity continues...

Monday November 1st

It was the insight of great prophets proclaiming that across all human alienations there was one God, and every son of man his child. "Have we not all one father?" cried the prophet. "Hath not one God created us? Why do we deal treacherously every man against his brother?" Across all lines that men have drawn, it goes, saying first of all and deepest of all: "Have we not one father?" ~ Harry Emerson Fosdick (1878-1969) Riverside Sermons
As it reads in the Bible, "Unto thee it was shewed, that thou mightest know that the Lord he is God; there is note else beside him." Also "The Lord is God, and that there is none else." But like the meaning of YHWH, I AM THAT I AM there is a mystical interpretation here which mysteriously eludes the masses... it is the spiritual statement of "I AM GOD, besides which there is none else" which is to say "I AM GOD, besides which there is nothing else." In other words, God is all there is. Do you exist? Of course you do. Even if you thought you didn't, you would have to exist in order to think that. Therefore you exist and God is all there is therefore you are God and you are all there is. ~ Derek Lamar
