Q.M.I. Presents Derek Lamar's

December 1999

Quote of the Day

Friday, December 31st, 1999

New Year's Eve of 2000

"Love is not showing care and concern, being nice, doing a favor, mailing a get well card. Those are acts of love, true, but they are the bi-products of love itself. LOVE is a state of Consciousness wherein Oneness is recognized. It is a feeling of total absorption wherein one is totally involved with something or someone as it they were themselves. Because in Truth, they are. Love is the realization that there is no separateness. It might not even be a conscious thought but simply a feeling which comes over one. It might be LOVE expressed in a project or a sports activity or some recreational event such as performing musically on stage. It might be watching a theatre production or cooking a wonderful dinner. It could even be an enthusiastic afternoon cleaning the house or organizing the garage. LOVE is a feeling which brings cohesion into view and nothing is exterior or outside your reach or grasp. Love is "doing the will of the Father" or "Letting Truth have its way with you." Love is saying what needs to be said because the words come to you to speak. Love is sensual and timeless. It is beauty and it is original. It is magnificent and it is forever." ~ Derek Lamar

Intention Continues...

Thursday, December 30th

"Understanding INTENTION is the root of what life is about. It is simple to say that we seek to know Truth, but in understanding Truth we discover that there is an INTENTION to all of Life itself. Not only is there Truth to be discovered which answers all of our questions, but it desires to be known as fully as we desire to know it. This means it is working to become recognize within our consciousness even as we struggle to realize it. We are already working with ourselves from 'the other side' digging to get in even as we claw to get out. There is no mystery which is hiding from our Soul but rather running toward us as we to it like lovers in an open field in the moonlight as the dawn quickly approaches." ~ Derek Lamar

Intention Continues...

Wednesday, December 29th

"The highest knowledge which man can attain is the longing for peace, that our will becomes one with the infinite Will, our human will with the Will of God." ~ Albert Schweitzer (1875-1965) Religion In Modern Civilization

Intention Continues...

Tuesday, December 28th

"It is absolutely necessary to conclude that God exists; for though the idea of substance be in my mind owing to this, that I myself am a substance, I should not, however, have the idea of an infinite substance, seeing I am a finite being, unless it were given me by some substance in reality infinite." ~ René Descartes (1596-1650) Principles of Philosophy

Being Continues...

Monday, December 27th

"I used to know by heart, at one time, the thousand names of God which a booklet in Hinduism gives in verse form and which perhaps tens of thousands recite every morning. But nowadays nothing so completely describes my God as Truth." ~ Mohandas K. Gandhi (1869-1948) Contemporary Indian Philosophy

Truth Continues...

Sunday, December 26th

"He that loves God will soar aloft and take him wings; and, leaving the earth, fly up to heaven, wander with the sun and moon, stars, and that heavenly troop, God himself being his guide." ~ Philo Judaeus (30 B.C.-A.D. 40)

"Is not the love of God more than what one must imagine the honoring of one's beloved parent? It requires enormous insight into the realm of heaven to understand what love even is. Love is the very presence of God. In this sense, it is not necessary that you love God at all, but that you merely LOVE. For in the act of LOVing you will experience the presence of God. And in the expression of love you will be engaged in doing what only God can do. And here, in love, is where the human dies and the divine is born. For no man can see God and live and no man, or woman can love without erasing forever the chains of earth from the destiny of one's soul." ~ Derek Lamar

Love Continues...

for it is the DAY AFTER christmas which portends the world to come

Saturday, December 25th

MERRY CHRISTMAS  ~  MELE KALIKIMAKA

"First there is the idea. A tree symbolizes knowledge and its leaves reflect ideas. Then there is a thought. An animal is a thought. It embodies within itself a certain consciousness. Then there is thought which recognizes itself. Then there is thought which recognizes God. Then there is thought which recognizes that there is nothing else but God. Man is consciousness aware of himself. He is waking up to realizing that not only is there really 'GOD' but that this MIND is his mind and that this MIND is all there is... consciousness conscious of consciousness." ~ Derek Lamar

Knowing Continues...

Friday, December 24th

"It is my humility that gives God his divinity and the proof of it is this. God's perculiar property is giving. But God cannot give if he has nothing to receive his gifts. Since I made myself receptive to his gifts by my humility so I by my humility do make God giver and since giving is God's own peculiar property I do by my humility give God his property." " ~ Meister Eckhart (1260-1327) Sermons

Appreciation Continues...

Thursday, December 23rd

"Humility stems from the inner recognition made in the true Light that being, life, knowledge, wisdom, and power are truly rooted in God, not in the created world." ~ Theologia Germanica

Recognition Continues...

Wednesday, December 22nd

"The ripened soul does not condemn but seeks to understand and master, does not cry out but accepts or toils to improve and perfect, does not revolt inwardly but labours to obey and fulfil and transfigure. Therefore we shall receive all things with an equal soul from the hands of the Master." ~ Sri Aurobindo (1872-1950) Pathamandir Annual

Seeking Continues...

Tuesday, December 21st

"Man should not have a God merely intellectually conceived. Rather, man must have an essential God, who is high above the thoughts of men." ~ Meister Eckhart (1260-1327) Works

Reaching Continues...

"In the pursuit of God man must leave himself behind and rise above the appearances to touch the hem of the garment which is his True Self and love the entire creation as his own making for he is all there is." ~ Derek Lamar

Grasping Continues...

Monday, December 20th

"God's Being is my life, but if it is so, then what is God's must be mine and what is mine God's. God's is-ness is my is-ness, and neither more nor less." ~ Meister Eckhart (1260-1327) Sermons

Being Continues...

Sunday, December 19th

"On this couch sits Brahman and he who knows himself one with Brahman, sitting on the couch, mounts it first with one foot only. Then Brahman says to him: 'Who are thou?' and he shall answer: 'I am like a season, and the child of the seasons, sprung from the womb of endless space, from the light, from the luminous Brahman. The light, the origin of the year, which is the past, which is the present, which is all living things, and all elements, is the Self. Thou art the Self. What thou art, that am I.' Brahman says to him: 'Who am I?' He shall answer: 'That which is, the true.'" ~ The Upanishads

Seasons Continue...

Saturday, December 18th

"Love is the only true emotion, everything else is either a variation or a lie. In seeking truth you will find love, in finding love you will have discovered truth." ~ Derek Lamar

Love Continues...

Friday, December 17th

"He who loves brings God and the world together." ~ Martin Buber (1878-1965) At The Turning

Love Continues...

"If you can keep your heart immersed always in the ocean of divine love, your heart is sure to remain ever full to overflowing with the waters of the divine love." ~ Sri Ramakrishna (1834-1886) Sayings

Love Continues...

Wednesday, December 15th

"Everyone talks about love like it is something special because they need it so much. But what if you were God? Hold that thought. But what if you were God and you didn't need love because you were loved and you were completely fulfilled? What would that mean? What does it mean to always hold yourself and be completely satisfied with all that you are? What does it mean to have your Soul so quiet and filled with beautiful music all at the same time? What does it mean to feel Whole and not pulled in all directions but to be connected totally with all that is and know that it is you. What does it mean to know perfection and to be joyous in it because that is all that you know? What does this mean? It means you have found yourself." ~ Derek Lamar

Love Continues...

Tuesday, December 14th

"The many writings of Jesus which are marketed about have very little to do with insight and more to do with ego. In my studies of the Bible, Dead Sea Scrolls, Nag Hamadi texts, aprocryphal writings, etc., in combination with a lifelong journey into the mystery schools and the decoding of consciousness I have not found anything which claims to be the words of Jesus except the original Biblical texts to be anything but frauds. Some would say they are well meaning but there is so much ego involved in taking on this role while denying one's own Divinity that I must always question such an act as being nothing but a blatant misuse of other people's trust and a lack of confidence in their own ability to speak Truth. There is only one Jesus, but we are all God. It has been said that anyone who denies the Divinity of another denies their own. Also it should be noted that anyone who impersonates the Divinity of another denies the Divinity of themselves." ~ Derek Lamar

Self Knowing Self Continues...

Monday, December 13th

"When I said 'I am the way, the truth and the life,' I did not intend to convey the thought to mankind that I, myself, was the only true light. I also said, 'As many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are Sons of God.' When I said, 'I am the perfect Son, the only begotten Son of God in whom the Father is well pleased,' I fully intended to convey the thought to all mankind that one of God's children saw, understood and claimed his divinity; saw that he lived, moved and had his being in God, the great Father-Mother Principle of all things, then spoke forth the word that he was the Christ, the only begotten Son of God, and with true heart and steadfast purpose lived the life, became what he claimed to be. With his eyes fixed upon that ideal he filled his whole body with that ideal and the end sought was fulfilled it." ~ Baird T. Spalding (Life & Teaching of the Masters of the Far East, Vol. 2)

I AM Continues...

Sunday, December 12th

"If you do not wish for His kingdom, don't pray for it. But if you do, you must do more than pray for it; you must work for it." ~ John Ruskin

Prayer Continues...

Saturday, December 11th

"God is throughout. god mingles in all things. The beginning, the end, and the center of life. All things enclose His soul, and are made vigorous by it, in the way our souls infuse our bodies." ~ Pierre De Ronsard (1524-1585) The Cats

Union Continues...

Friday, December 10th

"Some contemplate one name and some another. Which of these is the best? All are eminent clues to the transcendent, immortal, unembodied Brahman; these names are to be contemplated, lauded and at last denied. For by them one rises higher and higher in these worlds; but when all comes to the end, there he attains to the unity of the Person." ~ The Upanishads

"The Ultimate Personality is the I AM THAT I AM which is Consciousness Conscious of Consciousness fully knowing as Infinite Mind and expressing the Absolute Conclusion of Self to Self Infinitely." ~ Derek Lamar

Unfoldment Continues...

Thursday, December 9th

"To You Sweetheart, Aloha"

"From the beginning until the ending of time, there is love between Thee and me; and how shall such love be extinguished Kabir says: 'As the river enters into the ocean, so my heart touches Thee.'" ~ Kabir (1440-1518) Song

Love Continues...

Wednesday, December 8th

"Men have addressed their eternal Thou with many names. In singing of Him who was thus named they always had the Thou in mind: the first myths were hymns of praise. Then the names took refuge in the language of It; men were more and more strongly moved to think of and to address their eternal Thou as an It. But all God's names are hallowed, for in them He is not merely spoken about, but also spoken to." ~ Martin Buber (1878-1965) I And Thou

"God has granted to every people a prophet in its own tongue." ~ The Koran

"Heaven is such that all who have lived well, of whatever religion, have a place there." ~ Emanuel Swedenborg (1688-1772) Divine Providence

"To the philosopher all sects, all nations, are alike. I like Brahma, Hari, Buddha, the Great Spirit, as well as God." ~ Henry David Thoreau (1817-1862) Journals

Communication Continues...

Tuesday, December 7th

"Unexpected surprises: Into all our lives, in many simple, familiar, homely ways, God infuses this element of joy from the surprises of life, which unexpectedly brighten our days, and fill our eyes with light. He drops this added sweetness into his children's cup, and makes it to run over. The success we are not counting on, the blessing we were not trying after, the strain of music in the midst of drudgery, the beautiful morning picture or sunset glory thrown in as we pass to or from our daily business, the unsought word of encouragement or expression of sympathy, the sentence that meant for us more than a writer or speaker thought -- these and a hundred others that everyone's experience can supply are instances of what I mean." ~ Samuel Longfellow

Surprises Continues...

Monday December 6th

"You have been brought here to be vulnerable to a Higher Experience. Seek the knowledge by revealing your needs. Admitting one's desire will admit them into the realm of direction." ~ Derek Lamar

Confidence continues...

Sunday December 5th

"What do you want to know. And why do you not ask. Often in the asking is the answer. Often the answer brings up bigger questions. The path is a long and winding road and the farther one travels, the deeper they enter themselves. Ask that you may know." ~ Derek Lamar

Awakening continues...

Saturday December 4th

"Mele Kalikimaka. Christmas is the celebration of the Christ self within. It is the birth, the awakening of the Self to its I AM reality as Infinite Mind expressing the infinite variety it is... out and back to itself." ~ Derek Lamar

Eternity continues...

Friday December 3rd

"Realization requires looking at the negative and letting it go in order to understand the positive side to revelation. Denial locks negativity into position forever and blocks out the Light which is waiting to be revealed. All works together for understanding and all must be perceived. This does not mean all of it is real, our perception must always be questioned, because it is our perception which we wish to expand and change to allow more light and create less shadows." ~ Derek Lamar

Illumination continues...

Thursday December 2nd

"The amazing thing isn't those few moments where realization of the Divine occurs, however magnificent that may be, but the peculiar awkwardness of knowing that inside of us is the knowingness of Reality that in Truth we are ONE with God and yet we hide it so well." ~ Derek Lamar

Introspection continues...

Wednesday December 1st

"I see a lot of people adding categories to their stores of knowledge but the inventory of memories already within them is unchanged. What is necessary is not so much an expansion of human intellectual knowledge, but the change within which will in effect expand consciousness by its very nature. So many people, feeling lacking in self, seek to learn more to appear increased in knowledge when it is in the emptying of oneself which shall open the doors to the New Age." ~ Derek Lamar

Metanoia continues...
